My wife of 52 years died a little over a year ago. These messages remind me of the blessed time together the Lord provided. I’m now serving Him until I join her one day. Thank you, Alistair, for the solid teaching on what a godly marriage should be!!!

As a singer person, I cling to this. I wouldn't marry for anything less than the reciprocity that a true believe in Christ Jesus can provide. May our good and gracious Lord grant me the opportunity 🙏

Being a caregiver on many levels to my sickly family as a single for most of my life until 2015 - especially to my mentally sick mother, whose mental illness the enemy used to almost obliterate not only my faith in Christ, but my humanity and almost my life through attempted suicide, it is chronic illness that has had me completely question whether I ever want to be married if I ever have to go through the same hell as a married man to my spouse as I went through as a single man to my mother. This is my major stumbling block to ever getting married and still being single at aged 47. Very sobering.

I'm your age with a similar situation.. Just wanted to thank you for sharing and to chime in with a thought.. True love including sacrifice is rare and a beautiful blessing, most won't have your back when you're in need, and others will take your giving as a weakness. After you've been there for them through thick and thin, they leave... As my ex wife did to me. But we know what love is, God blessed us with this capacity for some reason, so it doesn't matter as much that we might not encounter someone who truly loves us. Just love brother, love for God and not for yourself.. Our Lord sees and appreciates us, God bless you, may the Lord give you the desires of your heart. Amen brother

It’s hard to read sarcasm into a text. But, I believe that is what you mean. One man and one woman committed for love in devotion to cherishing first God, Son, and Holy Spirit and then one another.
