    Very elegant looking car, would love to have one. More like a project car to be personalized, rather than a classic weekend vehicle.

    4100 was also used on 87-88 models switched to the 4.5 in 1989

    Thanks RR. I always wondered what these were like and I can't say I know anything at all about the Allante. I think they are a nice looking car. Another great video -and that's why I subscribe to your channel.

      I believe they came standard with the Alante until 1991, from when it became an option, for a mere $5,000 (58,000 vs 53,000). The only other option available was a carphone, cant imagine what that must have cost back then, but there is probably a reason they are so rare.

      @@pannonianbrute the cell phone bill back in those days cost about 1 to 2 dollars per minute and plus all other taxes and fees . A phone by it's self was around 2 k . as far as the car option I don't know what the dealer would charge but it's got to be astronomical back in those days

    I thought the northstar engines blew head gaskets like crazy? Not too sure how that would be an improvement if so

      Horsepower increase but definitely a decrease in reliability
      And of course people didnt know those engines were trouble back then

      Faulty head bolts as I recall. Gotta love GM quality control.

      They have like 3-4 places that leak oil badly. The 93-94 northstars have reliability issues for sure, they got better in 95 and were more or less “good” by 2002. By comparison the 4.5 and 4.9 cadillac V8 does have less power but its also much more reliable, plus it sounds cool!

    How heavy was that removal top.

    • @rodneyracer
      @rodneyracer  6 лет назад

      very heavy-- some owners used an electric winch mounted overhead in the garage to remove it.

    It sounds like a freakin' pick up truck ! :( And it was ridiculously overpriced. $60,000 ....Always thought this car would look way better if it were lowered
