Artemis 'Stormrunner' Sader don't know why, but the collector was never a problem for me, each time my time just slay him like he was a little vomitting pig. I wish I could say the same for the fanatic...(RIP my 6 lvl boss killer team)
Had two fat skeletons (bone commander I think?) With two courtiers in the back in room battles then a collector came to collect my guys. I though I was so God Damn lucky id get a shambler in the next tile!
I encountered the Collector on the run after the tutorial in the ruins he didn't actually manage to attack once because my vestal and Reynauld just kept him perma-stunned for the encounter, only lasting 4 turns because Dismas kept critting and super plague stacks
I encountered him with a level 0 party in the Ruins, it was the most soul-crushing battle I ever had; All of my party members started to die of heart attacks one by one after I fled from the fight, they just couldn't handle the stress of losing to the Collector. All my bois were literally shook asf.
@@maplebacon2724 i love the fact that everyone talks about their characters in terms of classes, and then there's reynauld and dismas who are part of the collective unconscious of this game now.

Crimson Curse isn't actually that bad, it's the micromanaging blood that's a pain - definitely nifty when you're doing short runs through dungeons for some decent damage if you get them craving

During one of my recent runs in the Weald, I encountered him. My Antiquarian bled out on her first Death's Door check, but I kicked his ass, grabbed what I could, and yeeted myself out of there. (I know, I should've left earlier, but I really don't want to have to face the Shrieker again.)
This is me, but with Shamblers. I have the stupidity to be greedy almost every time I see an altar. Full HP, low stress, near the end of a medium length 90% rooms mission? Yeah, I'm gonna summon it... aaaand I party wiped.
10? Fucking *W* *E* *A* *K* That guy's a pushover if you have a balanced melee-ranged party with a main healer in 2nd to last position. Also, DON'T FORGET THE TRINKETS.
@@borderlands10 Most people don't expect him to turn up though, I know what causes him to show up randomly but lots of people don't, so they're unprepared, get shuffled, bad rng, everyone dies because of stress, crits and probably not knowing wtf is going on. Also some morons may have just though that the shambler was a secret enemy and it'd be a cakewalk, so they used a torch on the altar. After 3000+ hours in the game I've only ever lost one character to the Shambler, and that was the first time when I was caught off guard by it. I've never lost a character to the collector, mostly because of the fact that I always have a method of hitting the backline because cultists and piggies are the fuckign worst.
diablofrag21 yeah my first time seeing an alter I used a torch and ended up getting my whole party wiped. Pretty sure I got shuffled and they were low health high stress anyways. I was exploring for loot. It’s really entertaining the first time you lose everything because you didn’t know you were releasing an eldritch abomination. Fun stuff
Pretty much yeah, he's a lot easier now, much less health. The strategy is pretty much to wipe out the highwaymen, they're literally the only threat, ignore the others unless you don't have any frontline, then wipe out the vestals. Even without anticipating the fight, it's always been a cakewalk for me. Backline attacks are good for any mission because of stress dealers, but also for this fight.

Devon Portis I always remind myself that the collector is a much easier to deal with problem than fanatic or shambler
