This gives you a way to fetch mascot exhibition and the other usual suspects while maintaining the board pressure and works really well with the 6 copies of board wipes you're running....wanna see people rage quit tap their creatures to make them over extend their plays and wipe the board after they think you don't have it🤣 it actually allows you to not have to foretell the doomskar which even further messes with the opponent in a tempo control pile like this

nobody ever uses the wandering emperor +1 :( he could've had a 3/3 and gotten rid of both creatures if he blocked did the +1 and then -2 on his turn at sorcery speed, as well as keeping the emperor
I thought the same but remembered he hadn't played in a few days and had to shake the rust off lol
Yes that's definitely the right play, this bothered me as well but that's just a bias, control players so rarely play emperor with a creature already in play that they don't even consider the plus as an option
Infinite patience when putting the screws to poor hand-empty aggro player, not enough patience to consider all three choices for which loyalty ability to activate.
(The real plus ability is looping and recasting it eventually.)

As a token of my appreciation, in game 1 vs boros, opp attacks with 3/3 aspirant and 3/3 raiju, instead of emperor making a 2/2 and double blocking, then exiling on your turn, you could have plused on your 2/2, making a 3/3 first strike, blocked and still exiled and be left with a 3/3 and an emperor on your following turn, rather than a 2/2 and no emperor.

To spice things up until rotation, how about a "I coulda been a contender" series? Featuring decks built around some cards that seemed extremely enticing buildarounds when they first came out, but never quite got there, and that are rotating out in September. Strixhaven had a bunch of those. Would be good content, and I'm positive you could get some of those things to 50+% win rate, right? :-D
that would be pretty refreshing! I love it that CGB always tries to play actually GOOD decks, but we've been in the same standard format for such a long time, stuff like that could make things more interesting, and it's a good opportunity to analyze why those decks are not that good.

Love this idea. Would be great for other people to also copy the deck list so we can spice up the ladder a bit and not everyone only playing S-Tier decks
9:40 would have been a better play if you gave a +1 counter on the token with first strike. You would have saved a 3/3 vigilance and the emperor wouldn't die after the -2. Sometimes we forgot about emperor's +1 ability.

Hi CGB, I noticed a misplay around 9 minutes into the video, which is that your deck plays blue and white only, rather than all five colors. Also, while Devious Coverup is good against mill, you can strengthen the matchup by adding 70 cards to the deck.

I wanted to say a move I think you would appreciate as a neat trick, at around 14 min in the video when exiling brutal , the celestus activation followed by march would go around that ward I learn these kinds of things from you, and I can honestly say I'm becoming better player thanks to you.

In future if you need to have the fan on while recording, try turning down the treble (high end of the frequency range), it'll suppress those sibilants such as white noise.

Witness the Future.
It's a blue instant for 3 mana. Shuffle 4 cards into your library from your graveyard. Look at the top 6 (?) cards of your library and put 1 into your hand.
I don't normally do this, but since you had the "(?)" in your description of Witness the Future, I might as well "answer" your question.
Witness the Future 2U
Sorcery from Innistrad: Crimson Vow
Target player shuffles up to four target cards from their graveyard into their library. You look at the top four cards of your library, then put one of those cards into your hand and the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.
Its a good card for this style of control. However, when you use this card against another control deck that has (2) Devious Cover-Up, its a hard match up to win since they can counter and exile it. A fun fact about Witness the Future is that you could target the opponent and shuffle away any annoying cards in their graveyard or shuffle in cards that are bad in the late game for your opponent. Of course, you still get look at the 4 cards of your library and "draw 1 of them." However, if there are decks with the potential of having annoying cards in the graveyard, Devious cover-up potential to exile the countered card is a better solution as oppose to shuffling them back into the opponents library.
I have been using Devious Cover-Up instead of Witness the Future, but both cards are fair choices. It will be up to you to decided which is better to use in your deck and for any given meta.
Sad that the hair growth promotion will be out dated in september, when we'll lose doomskar and watch this with tears in our eyes

CGB was playing Historic Brawl today and did a funny combo that made my opponent scoop I flashed in Saiba Syphoner at my opponent end step to grab Sublime Epiphany in graveyard then I keep countering returning my opponent permanent back to hand drawing a card and lastly copying Saiba Syphoner to grab Sublime Epiphany I did the loop twice and opponent had enough LOL 😎🤟🏽

26:00 I LOVE absolutely LOVE watching tempo decks prevail against control decks, it's not even that I want to see cgb suffer or that I hate watch cgb, I just hate watch control decks. I don't cheer for when aggro beats control just for when fun decks do it.

Why is he surprised by a deck running 2x Legion Angel? It has 3 “playable” deck building modes, and 2 main is the best mode.
Would you rather have 1 angel in your deck that fetches 3 of itself, or 2 angels in your deck (DOUBLING the odds of drawing it) that fetch 2 of themselves. (3 angels is obviously bad because then the second and third copies can’t fetch more angels)

Im a simple selesnya mage. I see "infinite counters," I click, I watch a few minutes of video, I realize my mistake, I think well of course cgb means _that_ kind of counters, I feel like an idiot, I wonder for the fiftieth time why a technical keyword in magic has two very different definitions.

So... maybe it's not a Wizard's approved idiom to say "counters" when you mean "spells which perform the action keyword ""counter."" " But you're just doing English to Wizard's "counter" keyword. So who's fault is it that "infinite counters" could refer to being heavy on permission magic OR to comboing into an ∞/∞ creature? Wizards! (And/or English lang!?) Because who decided to use the same word for a marker that modifies a permanent AND a spell that prevents another from resolving? Well... actually Richard Garfield, but we don't speak ill of our boi
