Hi Kurt. I really like what you're doing here since though I never played or coached, I'm kind of an X's and O's geek. One humble request, I wonder if you'd mind doing a video similar to this, but just showing what a call sheet looks like and explain how it's put together. Because I generally get what you're saying but much of it goes over my head, especially the strategy, play breakdowns, pre-snap reads, etc. I'm having a tough time following. Maybe do a deeper dive into the strategy you're talking about here.

8:45 I read this as the dig being the correct read. S and LB bite to the outside, corner stays flat. Showing outside leverage wanted. The LB bailing outside with the safety shows me there will be an opening in the middle of the field. You check your eyes to the other LB to make sure he isnt hitting a Tampa 2 hole and then you just fire it in there. Interested to know why you specifically went to the RB there?

First of all, LOVE your insight Kurt! The problem is that Madden is so arcadey and unrealistic you cannot map a real playbook onto its plays. I gotta be honest, as a casual fan 90% of your terminology went right over my head in terms of your own play calls and strategies, but the way Madden names the plays is so simplistic, and the game play not physics based at all, so good on you for exposing the horrible weakness of Madden and its AI. They say "it's in the game" but as you've clearly demonstrated Kurt, it isn't. The game should force you to think like a real NFL playcaller, but it doesn't. I could just choose random defensive plays (which I basically did) and still have a top-ranked defense, it was clear to me that no actual strategical game-planning skill is required, it's all how fast can you flick a stick.

Video idea, show us some unconventional defenses, disguised, hybrids, a few years back when i still played madden I had an awesome Double Robber defensive play I want you to look at if you have time. It was disguised really well and looked like a flat out Cover 4 pre snap worried about the deep ball. Both safeties were the robber in hook curls, 2 outside CBs were in Deep Zones making it a Cover 2. Than the front 7 would be assigned to whatever. A couple curl flats and hook curls and maybe a blitzer. The only weakness was really deep middle of the field but post snap the QB User would be in really bad shape if he attacked with underneath play that beats Cover 4.
