That's a bit of a haul if you drive it everyday! And yes, St. George is a fantastic place. We used run down there from Tallahassee in the late 70's when I was in school there and spend weekends with a posse of friends. There was really nothing out there in those days, just a few houses on stilts and wide open. My how things have changed and thank goodness for the park! Thanks for checking in!

Me and my Brother-in-law are going to do some night fishing tonight on St. George island. He’s lived here his whole life and fished. I’ve never fished on this island. What can I expect to catch??

@@TurfShop right now the water is super warm. Probably a bunch of catfish, maybe some hardtails and ladyfish and with any luck whiting. Good luck out there!

I'll be there late August surf fishing at the park. Do you think Pompano and Whiting will still be biting? Also can you give a little more detail about your Whiting setup?

August is a very tough time for Pompano due to very warm water temps. Seems there are always at least a few whiting around. For whiting, you can throw 7-10 foot medium action rods and have a blast, a 2500-3000 series spinning rod (like a Penn Battle III is plenty, or any salt ready casting reel will work great. 12-15 lb. braid or mono is all you need and I like to fish a smaller hook with a small piece of fresh frozen shrimp. Size 1 or 1/0 circle hooks will get it done for ya. (Eagle Claw L197FH, Lazer Sharps are a great option). Thanks for checking in and asking a good question!
