Reading with an Upper KS2 child

This video is designed to support parents when reading with their child at home. It is intended to show how you could develop your child’s reading by exploring a text in more depth.
The the key foci mentioned in the video are:
1) Inference - drawing out details that are not immediately obvious.
2) Focus in vocabulary - what words tell us and the meaning of unknown words.
3) Author’s intent - why the author has used certain words, phrases or made particular grammar choices.
