I don't think it's close to the worst trade ever. Sure, it's not looking good at all, but the guy was an elite QB in Houston (and that was when him, JJ Watt, D-Hop and Clowney were carrying the team in a horrible division most of the time), hadn't played a full season since 2020 and he was starting to turn it around in the second half against Baltimore, so it's not out of the question that he turns things around. Then, as you've pointed out, the team is already incredible without him, specially in defense, so if the defense keeps being as good and Nick Chubb comes back in form, Watson could just be a good game manager in order for at least a deep playoff run or two. Sure, without key draft stock and such a cap hit it will be difficult to deal with the contract situation moving forward, but if memory doesn't fail me the Saints spent years with a horrible cap situation and were able to keep it going until Drew Brees retired, so it's not impossible for the Browns to keep at least most of the best defensive pieces as long as they keep winning this year and moving forward. And then finally, it's only been two years. You can't go and categorize it instantly as the worst trade ever until we've seen at least how Watson ends up paying for the Browns and how the Texans get benefited from it, which they haven't so far other than getting rid of DW, as there was no way the Browns would've gotten CJ Stroud, who's the main reason why the Texans have a winning record right now. They would essentially need to draft the next JJ Watt, a modern day Jerry Rice and/or at least future HoFers that led them to be the 2020s equivalent to the 90s Cowboys to be as bad as the Herschel Walker trade, let alone be worse. PS: All this being said, as a Browns fan still feel horrible about how it all ended up for Baker Mayfield in Cleveland. Dude could ball at his best, and was elite outside the field; still remember he and his wife flying a terminal cancer patient (who in fact passed away the week after that year's Super Bowl) to the game where the team clinched a playoff spot in 2020. Not to mention he playing through a shlulder injury in '21, which tbf hurt the team way more than it helped (specially with Case Keenum making more money than some starters as his backup), but showed what type of player and man he was; sadly the media made him their punching bag at the slightest chance they would get and the Browns organization itself didn't treat him the beat on his way out.
Every player in the NFL's feelings on Deshaun Watson for him single handedly making sure no GM will ever give a quarterback a fully guaranteed contract ever again must be hate
Honestly the contract should have been voided because of the way it was structured, but that's also why they deserve what's coming; they knew he was going to be suspended, so they built the contract to make sure Watson was barely punished, financially, for being a piece of shit.
Lifelong Browns fan going back to the late 80s. After they dumped Baker for this pervert, I had to move on. Now a Lions fan. The Browns deserve whatever they get.
@brownsworldnfl It's a huge L that we have a better QB and a rising squad whilst y'all literally have one season to win it all before Watson's TERRIBLE contract bloats up? LMAO, 60M a YEAR in salary cap for a guy who's performing miles below CJ Stroud.
The good news is that Cleveland can start their next decade long rebuild in 3.5 years. This trade/contract always looked crazy. I feel awful for Cleveland fans and all of the great players whose prime the organization has wasted over the last 20 years.

Great video, but I checked OTC and the Browns' 2024 finances aren't screwed - if they roll over the 33M in cap space they have now into 2024, that puts them at a pretty manageable amount of money for this offseason. They can handle losing Za'Darius Smith since they've got Ogbonnia Okoronkwo under contract, but Anthony Walker & Grant Delpit are gonna be tough holes to fill if they get plucked by other teams. It's not completely unmanageable, but I wouldn't say it's enviable.
@@krm1786 my guy you even admitted that the browns are carrying. That was one half of football when the rest of the halves he has been horrible to mediocre. @brownsworldnfl you have the right to your opinion and so do I. Feel free to look for a video that trashes the Giants and how they suck I'm sure you'll find some.
The 70 million dollar cap hit cannot be understated. The Browns next year will be Groper, Miles Garrett and a (hopefully recovered, he's a good person) Nick Chubb and bunch of league minimum 1 year contracts and undrafted rookies. They are going to be the Cardinals of this year (just you know, without Joshua Dobbs for half a season). But hey, it'll all be worth it when they lose in the Divisional round (the same distance Baker took them without a 70 million dollar cap hit the following year).
Ever since Drew Carey told the Football gods to Shut up , everything for the browns went to shit. I never liked em and his appearance at Royal Rumble 2001
If Deshaun Watson hadn’t been involved in the whole “massage controversy” but everything else is the same it’s STILL a terrible trade based upon injuries, guaranteed salary, and draft picks. I think the Texans drafted CJ Stroud partially due to the Watson trade and CJ is a far superior talent. But guaranteed salaries in the NFL are a horrible idea because - thus just in! - football is a brutal sport. (Basketball is different. One player is 20 percent of a starting lineup in basketball and so his impact is greater and injury is way less likely. In football a QB is about nine percent of the offensive team so even though QB position is really important it has far less impact than, say, a Michael Jordan, as a percentage.)
Those of saying this isn't the worst trade in history are not defending Watson or saying this wasn't one of the worst. Just that it is not the worst. The Walker and Williams trades are numbers 1 and 2. Even if you shift the goal posts by adding in what the other team did with those assets, the Walker trade is still number 1 (built a large part of a 3 SB winning dynasty).
@@nasis18 and I thought signing Kenny Golliday for 70 mil was a bad move. Atleast that was his whole contract if I'm not mistaken. Now he's injured and their fucked. Idiots

the trade itself isn't even the main issue with this trade. Its his albatross contract. He will have a roughly $65 mil cap hit each of the next 3 years. the picks suck to lose but are manageable. the cap hit is not
the only thing that could make this trade worse for the browns is if the texans somehow get ANOTHER good starting piece from this upcoming draft, which is fully possible
Having Watson's contract back loaded suggests that the browns are using the loophole where only the first year of the contracts guaranteed money goes against the cap. He's essentially working for 16 million on the cap and 43 million in cash.
This has all the signs of outdoing the Herschel Walker trade and more, especially with the severe cap hit and extended period of injuries and suspension. Karma is a bitch, Cleveland. You made you're bed, and now you're being touched in it.

Dasharvey Watstein 😂😂☠️☠️
Lifelong Browns fan going back to the late 80s. After they dumped Baker for this pervert, I had to move on. Now a Lions fan. The Browns deserve whatever they get.
It may be time for another Hastily Made Cleveland Tourism Video.
“groper cleveland” lol LOVE IT!
That popping sound you hear in the distance is Herschel Walker and the Minnesota Vikings opening bottles of champagne.
I bet ol Grover wasnt expecting a shoutout in year of our lord 2023😂
As a Texans fan, I love the appreciation to how much the Texans have invested in growing players with the Watson trade.
It’s most browns thing ever
Browns have gone from "lovable losers" to "disgusting franchise that should be buried alive" real quick
Feeling a lot better in Denver 😅
Desharvey Wattstein..... that's a Brandon Perna level pun/analogy/metaphor right there.
“I’ll take: ‘How to fleece a franchise’, for $200, Alex.”
okay but i know i wasn't the only one that expected another Herschel Walker video because COME ON lmao
I thought I was clever with "DeBill Watsby" but "DeSharvey Watstein" is incredible 👏
I personally like Groper Cleveland.
I really gotta applaud the texans GM he’s really revived the franchise
The Texans giving them a 6th round pick is like throwing a towel at them after he finishes and saying "clean yourself up"
Nice going FivePoints for avoiding getting demonetized for the “Groper” name.
As a Texans fan, this is actually the best trade in NFL history!
I hadn't heard "Desharvey Watstein" before. That is GOLD.
The worst trade is actually the Giants winning a Super Bowl in 2012 in exchange for a decade of misery with dashes of hope mixed in
Dude its 2 superbowls in the span of the 5 years to turn bad for a good chuck of the decade is pretty good deal. For the Broncos we only won once havent even sniff the playoffs for nearly a decade.
@@wildruid10 The memories of that Super Bowl continue to fade further and further for me with few good memories to replace those fading ones. I understand what you’re saying though.
@@josephippolito3788 its hard but just remember you have a group of players you would cherish for the rest of your life. Having patience waiting around with subpar product sucks, but hey your team been there in the promise land before.
Groper Cleveland is a fuckin' HILARIOUS nickname. And let's be honest, he hasn't shown that he deserved his MASSIVE ASS contract as of yet.
“Desharvey Weinstein 😂😂😂😂😂😂”
As a Texans fan, this is nothing but satisfying
This is aging so well. Gonna be even better when the Texans beat the browns today.
I thought Groper Cleveland was gold, but Desharvey Watstein is something else dude 😂
Houston is gonna win a super bowl with talent they acquire from this trade. Mark my words.
Deshery Wastein you are the damn GOAT my guy been watching awhike and will keep wat hung because you’ve never disappointed with topics of discussion, intellectual opinions, or just straight up comedy!! You’re mad underrated to boot my guy I hope one day it blows up to the level it deserves!
I had to tell my boy about "Groper Cleveland." Fuggin' brilliant nickname!
LMAOOOOO Groper Cleveland! That is classic!
Jimbo, Watson and DeMarcus Russell should all go out for beers together.
And Baker Mayfield is quietly having a fantastic season
Who has a better record browns or buccaneers?
4-5
Gotta love people bringing up records as if that is somehow an individual stat.
@@braydenborrell the QB can win or lose you the game. Like when they go 14 for 14 in the second half with a sprained ankle and broken shoulder
@@krm1786 my guy you even admitted that the browns are carrying. That was one half of football when the rest of the halves he has been horrible to mediocre. The fact that you are even trying to justify it is hilarious. He has NOT been the reason why the browns are winning and PJ Walker is 2-1 (would be 3-1 if Watson didn't get credit for "winning" the Indy game while have a 0 qbr).
Even paying off the refs can’t stop Cleveland from Cleveland-ing.
The Browns spent years building a superb roster, only to waste it all with one incredible move. Absolute elite stupidity displayed by their front office.
I've watched this video like four times now well done man
@brownsworldnfl you have the right to your opinion and so do I.
Groper Cleveland is the best meme about him so far xfd
I forgot about the "YOU ARE A FACTORY OF SADNESS!" guy!
Personally I love basking in Watson’s downfall and the Browns for signing him.
Groper Cleveland. 5ive I'm wheezing over here. XD
The dude is making more than Holmes. Enough said. Lol
"Look at where the Texans are" "Look at where the browns are" .... I mean, I can. I'm not one to say "scoreboard", but ... scoreboard?
Great vid. Can you do one on whatever the Broncos did?
Mike Polk Jr.'s factory of sadness video is still 🐐
Allegations aside, he wasn't worth that contract. He was decent in Houston but that was the Texans at a rough time.
The difference is that Walker and Williams didn’t get fully guaranteed contracts.
That’s why this is the worst trade.
@@chrisp679contracts aren't trades
He had it coming 😂
Thank you so much Vids for showing love for my comment. You are the first video creator to do that. 🎉
This makes the Russell Wilson trade look GOOD.
Holy shit. 70 mil cap hit for 3 years???? And a 200 mil dead cap if they bounce him? What WERE THEY THINKING. should have kept Dobbs
Yup. The extension he signed with Cleveland was FULLY guaranteed.
@@nasis18 and I thought signing Kenny Golliday for 70 mil was a bad move. Atleast that was his whole contract if I'm not mistaken. Now he's injured and their fucked. Idiots
*Russell Wilson to the Broncos enters the chat*
*Brandon Perna also enters the chat to complain about it*
As a Texan's fan I disagree that this was the worst trade in history. Also as a bit of irony PJ Walker was the star QB of the XFL Houston Roughnecks who were undefeated before it was shut down. So see Cleveland we did send you a good QB. You're welcome :)
Props to the Texans for selling us damaged goods
Thanks five points for the heart
The greatest ability is availability. Baker’s not elite but he bled brown and wanted to be there. He played hurt when he probably shouldn’t have
5 your videos are the best. Thank you
Wow, thanks!
the trade itself isn't even the main issue with this trade.
3 years left after this one
Awesome Mike Polk cameo!
Having Watson's contract back loaded suggests that the browns are using the loophole where only the first year of the contracts guaranteed money goes against the cap. He's essentially working for 16 million on the cap and 43 million in cash.
Watson's play in Cleveland is touch and go at this point.
Cleveland looking good, but not with Mr Massage. Embarrassing.
Vikings finally out from under that Herschel Walker shadow!!
"Desharvey Watstein"
Bro I was howling 😂😂😂
@brownsworldnflBrowns fans are clueless about football. Talking up joe Flacco and that defense just to get absolutely embarrassed in Houston.
This has all the signs of outdoing the Herschel Walker trade and more, especially with the severe cap hit and extended period of injuries and suspension.
Karma is a bitch, Cleveland. You made you're bed, and now you're being touched in it.
Here after Houston dismantled Cleveland’s defense. Not only do they advance but they improve their pick by eliminating Cleveland. Muah , chefs kiss
I think alot of people are blowing Deshaun Watson's Cleveland wins way outta proportion. Cleveland fans thought they was gonna go on a Superbowl run after they beat the Ravens
Why wouldn’t they with a #1 Def, 6-3 and one game behind the team they just beat?
Browns beat arguably the best team in the AFC and NFC, have the number one defense in the league, and Deshaun was balling out.
@@lesm3870Because they have no offense. They’re down Watson and Chubb, the only way they’re making it past the Wild Card is if the defense goes 2000 Ravens mode.
@@IBangedUrMom69420 Captain Obvious without Watson. Your original post reads as if they were delusional with him playing which is wrong, they were a contender
