- I came to Yellowstone for a month this Fall with the sole focus being finding and photographing wild wolves.
Check out this vlog where I photograph bison, elk, coyotes, and all the wildlife that call this National Park home.

Just a treat to see someone who enjoys nature and what pleasures it has to offer great video thank u
thank you so much!
the howl of the wolf. the most amazing sound in nature
The most difficult animal in Yellowstone to photograph is the Mountain Lion! They are more elusive than wolves.
Cool video. I’ve been to Yellowstone twice and can’t wait to go back.
it's a magical place! You'll have a great time!
loved this, thanks for sharing!
This is really good. Great job!
tThank you! Glad you enjoyed!
Found your Instagram a few months ago, I'm so glad you made a RUclips channel, your work is amazing
Thanks Seth! I'm personally loving the video side of things so I'm hoping to do it more seriously in the future!
Outstanding video, that is my dream trip and is on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you! It's a magical place and I hope you can make it out there!
I'm always amazed that people can see these guys so far out... but I'm glad they can.
it's almost an art form for some of these spotters
Enjoyed the video, thought it was well done. It seemed you were doing a lot of driving and has me wondering where did you stay? campsite, hotel, etc? Thanks in advance.
Thanks! I stayed in Gardiner which was about an hour drive from Lamar Valley. There are plenty of hotels and lodges in town that make it very popular for visitors trying to stay up north. Though to be honest Silver Gate and Cooke City are much closer to Lamar Valley and would be a better choice if your sole focus is just wolf watching in the valley. The downside is that you would totally miss out on the other wolf packs that might be seen along the northern range in the morning, though I’ll admit I have yet to ever see them as more than a dot on the horizon. Either way you have to be prepared for long days and plenty of driving!
Was just there and loved seeing the wolves. What did you use to capture your videos? Spotting scope with phone mount camera? We mostly watched junc bute pack at den sight off slough creek. Was a carcass as well at 200 yards which helped.
Did you meet any of those on the wolf project? Wolf cars and vans. Jeremy and others. We did and they were very helpful.
Thanks for the video. Great video and song choices. Good flow. Hopefully longer lense and better luck next time.
Thank you so much for the kind words! This was all shot with a 400mm lens. I’ve taken a 600 before but I was really banking on getting more close up opportunities that just didn’t pan out. I do know a handful of the wolf people and they are all just wonderful. Lots of very passionate folks out there. Next time I’ll make sure I get my shot!
Beautiful Yellowstone.
Awesome video, even though you didn’t get your wolf photo, you got some great video of them. They are magical animals. Your knowledge of Yellowstone is amazing, you must go there often. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome!!
great photos!
Nicely done. What software do you use to edit your videos?
Thanks Sharon! I'm using Davinci Resolve since it's free!
Cool!
Excellent! What lens did you use for the wolves toward the end of the video? Thanks!
400mm f2.8. I should have put on my 1.4x teleconverter but they popped out so quickly that I didn't have time to react
How many yards away were you from the wolves? How long was your lens?
I was shooting with a 400mm lens, which is honestly not long enough most of the time. Most encounters were from about 400 yards off, except for the last one with the Junctions which was maybe 250 yards
Wolves are not the hardest animal to photograph in Yellowstone. That would be mountain lions and wolverines.
Very true. Wolves are the hardest animal that you can regularly spot, but rarely get a good photo of. If you even manage to spot a mountain lion or wolverine then you go buy a lotto ticket
Did you camp or stay in an RV or cabin and hiked in every day?.. I’ve seen them a couple of times in Alaska, in Denali
Nope I stayed in the town of Gardiner and drove in every day. I've camped before but I never get good sleep camping in bear country so 4 walls is required these days!
spend enough time out in the wild small movements are very noticeable
