Ever since he started doing TWD he's gotten more mainstream. He's been getting more movie roles as of late (he was in Rampage with the Rock). He was also in the Watchmen movie that came out back in 2009 (he played Edward Blake/The Comedian).
He has always been a big actor.

This episode provided closure for me personally. I know its dumb and fictional, but I hated that Sam never got to say goodbye to John. I needed this.

ya i was hoping atleast a few episodes or 1 season
unfortunately that’s the fault of AMC’s schedule for shooting The Walking Dead, and his agent and that team. He literally had to just come down himself and film these scenes cause his agent kept demanding expensive things and certain restrictions that were ridiculous, so this was all he could manage at that time, and I’m glad they made it work. Hopefully we’ll see him again in the final season

Plus SPN can get JDM because TWD was on break, so the agent saw this to collect a little money. I hope JDM could return since SPN delay their production due the pandemic, there's 7 episodes remaining before the final episode.
And Dean getting to hear that his father cares and wanted him to have a 'normal' life especially when it was Dean who was shoved into the supernatural.

Can I just say I love how Mary doesn't question how her dead husband that was supposed to be in heaven but was locked in hell by God is now just there with no explanation.

Besides, I feel like they would’ve gave her a more surprised/shocked look on her face if she hadn’t known. She shows more like a face of disbelief, like she heard what happened but wasn’t fully prepared to actually see it herself.

Damn you know what I just realized, John from seasons 1 and 2 KNEW everything that would happen because his future sons had summoned him and sent him back with everything they told him. Holy shit makes it so different now and worth rewatching knowing they added that lore underneath the surface. This is why I love supernatural!!
He didnt know, once he was back, he had 0 memories about the future. They explain it in the episode.

One of the few, rare instances where Dean's name got called first... But more related to the fact that Dean's the one John was looking at when the lights came up. It IS significant that it's always "Sam first" though. Reinforces that sense of Dean's needs being backgrounded.
I'm drawing a blank on his name (he worked at the Roadhouse with Ellen and Jo and was later killed in the fire... someone knows who I mean, right?) but in season 2, when he's high and half-naked, he opens the door and says, "Dean, Sam...Sam and Dean."

This was one of the most satisfying episodes!
This is one of the best scenes of the entire series. It’s just a tour de force on every level...beautifully written, brilliantly acted, and as close to flawless as one can possibly get. I don’t think there will ever come a day when watching this scene, (this entire episode really), won’t hit me like a truck.

That scene during this season where the four of them just sit and share a meal together… 14 seasons was *****TOTALLY***** worth the wait for me for just that ONE scene! I cried! I’m not ashamed to admit I cried!

One thing keeps bugging me they could at least colored his beard darker made him look younger since its John Winchester from the past. I get they can't change his look because of the walking dead. Of course he has aged but they could of put some washable color on his beard made it looked more credible that's he's from the past. All in all a good episode, waiting patiently for him to return it was the little details and wanting a bit more. Would of been real interesting if he remembered something but timeline would of changed and then were in a Terminator confusing mess!

@@ryanstapleton4320 exactly he is from 2003 he did not look the way he did back then too much grey in that beard. Reading the other comments I guess it could of easily been explained as an effect of the pearl or timeline. Love it! Supernatural fans in the house!!!
@@marisolrivera4089 It's not a side affect, he is just +16 years older than he was back then. It's real time. He is the age he is currently in that timeline because the timeline changed. He became the man he would had been in 2019 had he not died in 2003.
Oh my God I just watched the episode where John Winchester dies and got me so depressed, I didn't want John to end up like this, he was my favorite character, I loved him, he got the way to my heart in just a couple episodes and knowing he died was just a hit right to my heart. Luckily, for the very first time in my life, a spoiler has been the best thing that has ever happened to me in TV shows, since I got to know that Jhon will come back!!! 😭😭😭😭 I'm so happy now,
I didn't get this depressed since because of a TV show o movie since the death of a very loved character of the best movie and I've ever seen and loved .

Not only John’s face when he hears Mary’s voice, but the way Dean watches as they embrace, KILLS ME. I just know he feels like a little kid, sitting at the table and eating his PB&J, all over again. My heart.
While doing all this Dean had Michael in his head, never gets a break.
Y’know I felt that the scene was coming up where they’d meet, but I was expecting the Cliché dramatic turn with mouth wide open.... the way his face went from awe to contorted emotion like that hits so fucking hard. And that “Mary” he uttered didn’t even sound like a question, it sounded more like an animal crying out in pain. Fuck me that was a good scene
