The whole plan wasn't about gold but about proving how good you are at thieving. This was the Berlin's plan. So his son let go the gold.
I think it said “elegance” or “class” or something along that line because it was the last thing Berlin told him that night he confronted his ex-wife and him. The thing he wished his son had was class. Berlin was known for having high standards and class. So maybe Rafael finally understood the final lesson his father was trying to teach him, class.
I think Rafael was part of the plan all along because the professor said to the colonel he wouldn’t let anyone know where gold is even himself before the heist is done. So that in case something happened like they got captured and interrogated they couldn’t tell where’s the gold exactly. The note may be saying now it's your turn to play or (it's a matter of family) to complete the heist no matter what.
HOLLY FUCKK^$%#!!$#$!#, YOU SOLVED IT ALL... RAFAEL WAS PART OF THE PLAN THE WHOLE TIME... THE TEAM JUST COULDN'T KNOW BECAUSE THE ILLUSION NEEDED TO STAY ALIVE
Agreed. Thats what Ive been thinking. I just rewatched it. Its hitting two birds in one stone. He got Sierra's full trust and he will have no knowledge about the gold's whereabouts upon entry in the banks Rafael is part of the plan.
The police chief barely understood the professors predictions and calculations in time, he had to think fast under stress, and he made the right decision in the last second. Many times when he got upset I thought he would get a heart attack.
I loved every bit of this series. It will last long in my memories. But yes, I had this query in my mind what professor wrote in that letter that changed the mind of Rafael.
The note said something along the lines of 'Enjoy your Viking gold' The Professor convinced Rafael that the gold he'd stolen was brass and that if he wanted a cut of the real gold he needed that back to enact his plan. Otherwise what's on a scrap of paper that small to convince someone to give up all 90 tons of gold, then ask 'do you think he will give you your share?' If Rafael thought he had the real gold wouldn't he just take his share then? He was convinced his gold was brass and that if he wanted the real gold he'd have to give back the brass gold otherwise they couldn't fool Tamayo.
Nah too many holes in the theory he can check the gold and why would he believe it’s fake when he took it from where the real gold would be according to their plan
4:45 The gang got very rich after the first heist, so they could afford to hire many people to succeed on their second heist. The "guy in the shadows" that helped them with the trucks was just someone they hired to follow that order
Why does Rafael looks so much like professor and nothing like Berlin ? Even the way he carries himself. The last scene of Rafael he touches his glasses and it just gives me Professor vibes !
Bruh! I know where your going with this one. ☠️🤣 😆 🤣 A part me thinks that that's F'd up as hell but a a part me really really wants to hear the joke too 😆 🤣 😂.
Axel was already being taken care of. Nairobi also said that when she told the Profesor that she wanted to have another child, because she no longer intended to "kidnap" her first child back whilst ripping him from the save environment he knew.
its sad to say goodbye but anymore seasons and people will get bored of the show. they ended the series on a good time Everyone is pretty much satisfied
I think the team in Pakistan would have revealed the secret if Tamayo had the gang killed and also about the note i believe in your theory but what i think as well is that "VIKING HEIST" was written in that note
Was one of the best or the best show ever taking us through a thrilling emotional ride and not loosing the plot for one second till the end that's one awesome show..!!
this is not a regular kind of hiest, professor is running a company and it has many employees and an offsh ore services company to help them for whatever info they need to track or schedule upfront.
Maybe the note just reminded him of the time they switched real Viking treasure for fake one, and that they intended to do the same for gold, not planning to give it back. Plus the share of course.
The note, I think it is something referred to with the viking treasure. Tatiana said that they didn't want to return the gold because the magic is when it comes out. Also, Rafael was with berlin during the viking treasure heist. Maybe Professor wrote something that will make rafael remember what his father did with the treasure thus making him realize that they are not actually returning the gold but making a gold coated brass out of it and keep it a state secret just like with the viking one.
I think it said “an exquisite swap” which is what Berlin said to Sergio and Rafael all those years ago when asked howd the heist in Denmark go. Tatiana didn’t want to let the gold go because she knew that it was their bargaining chip and wasn’t going to allow them to simply give the gold back after they already got it out. As she said the miracle had already happened which was getting the gold out to begin with. If you watch that scene in the final episode, you see how Martin is told by Sergio how they’re going to do it then it cuts to Berlin saying “an exquisite swap” then to Martin laughing then to present time where Rafael does a sort of half incredulous half sad smile. And with those three words he understood that they weren’t going to give the real gold back but do a swap just like his father had in their first heist together
Berlin taught Rafael that if he wants something, just steal from the one who has it. Even though Berlin say it's okay to steal from family after having his heart broken, his action is always putting family first, maybe the note about family tradition really reminded Rafael what's important. On another note I was certain Berlin's ex wife (forgot her name) will be the boss of the crew and Rafael is her puppet with big brain, guess it really was true love, huh, whaddaya know.
Heres my theory: He didn’t do it for his dad he did it cause they knew the plan. It also shows that Tatianna is the one in command in the scenes and especially at the end when everyone has a gun except him. I thought the note just said "we aren’t giving back the gold you’ll have your share" or something cause at the end Tatianna asks him if he actually believes the professor will give actually him his cut
I think that makes the most sense because the gold was supposed to be the big plot twist which is why we don't get to see the note otherwise it would be too early, and Tatiana asked about their share which makes the most sense.

I think he returned the gold to the Professors crew, because, well he realized that he is going to get his share, also he probably DIDN'T want to interfere the Professors plan. He clearly knew that his heist was planned, he knew they are going to complete the heist, but him interfering by stealing the gold would've risk it all. Also as we've learned, Rafaels crew didn't know that the Professor is going to do that heist, without Berlin. As they've said, they had about 5-6 days when the heist started to plan the stealing of the gold from Professor. So Rafaels team probably didn't have enough time to think about what to do with the gold (Yeah, they probably knew, since they knew about the whole plan by Berlins ex-wife). But Professor knew, what to do with it after they put it on the trucks.
When they mentioned "betting on the stockmarket" to go up or go down, I thought they were gonna buy put options, bring down the market to make a big profit, return the gold to go free, and keep the "legal" money they won using the stockmarket. That way they would truly be free.

I think everyone can have their own version of rafael stealing the gold. To me , it was a part of the plan. Nobody knew it, so nobody could answer it. Rafael stealing was a part of the plan.
@@Diaryofmarriedscholar Prof believe her intellegence as said she can find profesor in 9th months pregnant conditions above interpol searching for years
i would love a spin off based on Berlin and his life / previous robberies. add in his past, childhood into his early adult years, his love life, when he found out about his illness, etc. plenty of room for drama but the show would be focused on his criminal career, and show us the process of him planning the robbery of the gold of the bank of spain while he lived with palermo. i love money heist so much and did not want it to end so this would be perfect.
I think the note says, "the heist is over." Or "it is successful". The prof said nobody in their team should know where the gold is. I think it was planned that raf would steal the gold so prof and the team wouldnt knpw where it is. In the last part, tatiana said "are you sure he will give you your share?" Because again it was all part of the act. Raf was the last piece and he did this because he was also a thief like his uncle and father.
Makes sense. Maybe, that's the reason why professor did not want to fight when Rafael and Tatiana team about to arrive to professor's hide out. He prefer to surrender, because it's all part of the plan.
Stealing from your own uncle wasn't even a heist at all but instead it was straight up betrayal. If Rafael really wanted to "talk" to his father then he should've formed his own heist to really make his late father proud. Rafael said he trusted his family but he betrayed his uncle just to "honor" his dead father? Rafael is a narcissistic cold blooded brat.
The most annoying part to me is that after gandia executed Nairobi, he was able to somersault his way out of the room when everyone was firing automatic weapons at him. Somehow nobody was able to hit him. I get that he needed to live for the story to play out when Tokyo kills him, but it was still annoying and frustrating at the time

@@RyanFMorriss I gotta disagree but thats why he's so popular I suppose lol .. in the royal mint he was psychotic. Was forcing that woman to take care of him. remember the scene where the professor told how he Saw his father robbed bank , I think that something to do with the note like "it's in the family and you will continue it"
I think you can’t dumb it down to just the note!! Yes the note changed his mind, but everyone was pointing at each other and they were all gonna die. Instead, he kinda redeemed himself for the family lineage and avoided a fatal face off:) I guess that makes “NO SENSE”
Lol u guys. Note clearly said. This gold is Spain property and you can't buy anything from it. Its abandoned in the country as its countries reserve. The whole plan wasn't about gold but about proving how good you are at thieving. This was the Berlin's plan. So his son thinks the gold is useless and he let go the gold.
If that were true, then The Professor would not have been desperate for Alicia to find the gold within just a few hours. After all, The Professor would have unnecessarily risked his own life (and those of his friends) for no good reason....and all because he HOPED that Alicia would be successful in her mission? That's illogical, irrational, and not worthy of The Professor's genius mind. In fact, it would be insane. Berlin's son betrayed his own father, therefore he would have had no compunction whatsoever in betraying his uncle. I mean, if you were in The Professor's shoes, would YOU trust your nephew after seeing what he did to your beloved brother? I sure wouldn't.
@@Turrican60 yep, he knew "something" would happen. But he didnt know what. Berlins son did that entire part on his own, with out the professors knowledge of the plan, which was part or the professors plan, "i litterally dont know where the gold is" berlins son stealing the gold was perfect for the professors plan, it was basically the only way they got away, we dont know what the note said, but i bet it was like "your father would be proud" given how he was "proud, when he stole his girl, its like a call back to that moment. Then he said "its a family thing" or something to that effect which kinda points to that as well. But who really knows. These conversations are what makes money heist a great show.
I think you are half correct. The son was in on Berlin's plan but the professor was not. It's the only way it makes sense because even the professor was searching for the real gold.
@@FORZEFUL but the hostages did see them when they were being threatened and held hostage so there's a risk of them letting the government know that they're a part of the heist too

@@dego6585 Because no one can know in that group can know that Tatiana and his nephew are with them as it can compromise the plan. Makes some sense to me now.
am I the only who wonder what the first plan was? looks like professor impovised a lot after what happened and I am confused of what they would have done if the gold was not stolen
They didn't. They did show us in part 5 ep 2 that spirits actually exist in money heist universe and they can communicate too. Tokyo spirit communicated with rio and lisbon so either after her death her spirit was narrating the rest of the heist or it was her spirit all along which was narrating us all the the hesits.
They been said the show was only 2 seasons for the first heist @ the Royal Mint they had no future plans of it going further. They did not know the show was gonna blow up world wide and once it did fans were asking for more so they had to quickly write how will they make their comeback and to plan another heist. So they had to continue with Tokyo narrating. I guess that’s why they’re giving Berlin his own spinoff show since they killed him off in the 1st heist which they probably do regret 😭 who knew Berlin was gonna get that much love!
With tamayo, the economy would have plummeted if they didn’t have the gold. But having the fake gold gave everyone a false sense of security that they had the national reserve to fall back on
I think you are very wrong about what the note said. I think part of the problem that even tatiana mentions is that "I understand you were gonna use the gold as a bargain chip, but the real magic trick was getting it out" they did absolutley not wanna give them the gold cause they were under the impression they were gonna return it all. However when they are melting the gold you can se alot of the bars dont have the dali marking, but the fake gold and also some of the gold that Rafael and tatiana stole has the Dali marking. So what I think happens is that the note says "half the gold is fake" and probably something more about family. Him understanding that they are retutning fake gold and that some of the gold they stole are fake is what makes Rafael change his mind and he understand he is gonna get his share of the real gold to. Him just changing his mind out of sentimental value makes absolutley no sense, also the professor being EXTREMLY stressed about the gold being stolen wouldnt have made as much sense eitther because in that case he could have returned the fake gold anyway and lied about knowing were the real gold is. Even tho they would have gotten nothing they still could have excetuted that part of the plan wich means that only the real gold being stolen would not have been that devestating and urgent to fix as it was depicted in the show.
Not nearly as foolish. Arturo was an annoying idiot and coward with a hero complex. Tamayo was a stubborn and corrupt cop willing to cross any line to get the job done. He was much less irritating of a character than Arturo, and that’s why he worked better as the main antagonist for the last season
They're making a spin off of Berlin coming in 2023. No other news about it is revealed yet. I desperately hope for them to show the story of him performing the diamond heist.. Seriously can't wait!!
I feel like theres a few plotholes the show failed to adress. Namely the family members of the gang, and especially Stockholm's son with Arturo. Since everyone thinks the gang is dead, Arturo would absolutely be the type of guy to try and get custody of Cincinatti rather than leave him with Denver. The government would need to come up with a very good reason as to why Arturo can't even speak to or see his son, let alone get custody. A similar case can be made for Axel, as this video adressed, and Lisbon's daughter.
Arturo isn’t the father on paper. I’m pretty sure the birth certificate would indicate Denver as the legal father as he was the one present at his birth. They weren’t really planning on leaving Indonesia (?) to reunite with Arturo or anyone at all so no point to inform anyone of the real father of the baby. So Arturo will never have custody of Cincinnati. And he never really wanted the baby. He just wanted to get Stockholm back because he felt she was his and his pride got hurt that she chose Denver over him.
How is that a plot hole? Arturo wasn't even the father of the child on paper; he was a selfish egotist who had no interest in him, just on Stockholm (and even that was only because she'd left him and hurt his pride). Even in the remote possibility that he changed - and people never change - and decided he wanted a relationship with him, good luck to him trying to seek custody of a legally unrelated child located in an unknown country.
Ummm... facts are the professor didnt even need to recover that gold. Since his plan was to return the brass gold and use the real gold as hostage, the professor only need that golds to disappear forever to get his gang out, which would happen anyway if gold stayed with Rafael
It might be "it's an exchange" cause in one of the flashback when prof. asked about one of the heist which Berlin and Rafael did. Berlin would have replied "it was an exchange".
They don't need to make money of the gold. When the stock crashed, Professor out in his stolen money and then when the stock peaked he sold his stock shares. He doesn't need to encash the gold. He just made money legally in stocks.
Message for sure would be "Change will be exquisite"...... line itself suggest Berlin's move during Viking heist thus gold ain't going anywhere.... ofcourse a cryptic and obvious message isn't that obvious............
1 theory from reddit is (& if u actually re-watch it) what Rafael & Tatiana stole were fake ingots (marked with Dali face logo). The real ones that they made our of pellets doesn't have that. Thats why it was easy for Rafael to "let it go" and instead settle for a cut coz he never had the real gold in the first place.
The dali faces were part of the molds so it would make sense for all the gold ingots to have them. The same molds were probably used for the copper ingots as well, so all the ingots in the vault at the end also have them.
Imma be honest i skipped through almost all of the scenes with berlin’s wedding and w his wife n son. I really didnt care for it at all, i wanted to see what’s happening in the heist. He was a cool character but i didnt care ab his son or wife.
you missed out then bro, Berlin’s character played a pretty important role in the whole thing, and honestly he’s probably one of the better written characters on the show

It is a preplanned theory made by professor, When professor entered the bank then he said that you have such practice that you could bring out from me the place where Gold is hidden, so professor made the planning with Berlin son and in the note return on paper may be assurance by professor about his identity.
I’ve seen numerous videos, but none of them explain in what moment the fake gold was made/changed and if it was Raphael or the profesor(with an outside team) who sent the fake gold
it was prepared long before the plan started, swapping was always part of the plan. Like the professor explained, having gold is an illusion because no one pays for anything in gold
The reason why Berlin’s son stole the gold was because he thought that the gold was going to get returned to the bank and so the note was written the final part of the plan that no one new except the Professor that ‘we are not returning the gold but replacing it with brass ‘
Nairobi's son had a foster family alredy, let's remember Nairobi told Tokio about it, so it hasn't sence that The professor would adopt that kid. The police took him from his foster family only to try find a solution to stop the heist and after that they'd return him to his family. 5:24
The thing that confuses me to this day is, how the f does Helsinki be able to walk at the final scene just only after 24 hours of the heist. (Yea, must be the producer mistake lol)
Nairobi, son already had foster parents so im pretty sure he went back to them. The biggest mystery to me was why was Tokyo still narrating after her death. It just didn’t make sense.
I have a theory, I may be overthinking this but hear me out: I think Rafael is the Professor’s son, and the note probably stated something like “I’m your real father” or something like that. Why am I saying this? 1) If you observe Rafael’s body language when he was talking to Tatiana after returning the gold, he said “it’s a matter of family, and then he pushed his glasses with one finger just like what the professor subconsciously does when he is talking. A hint maybe ? 2) Reminder when Alicia first found the professor at the storm water tank and she tied him up? Season 5 episode 2 time stamp 24:07 She said “You ddnt even tell your brother the truth” meaning His brother Berlin. What truth was she referring to that the professor ddnt tell his brother? Maybe the fact that Berlin was not Rafael’s father and the Professor was?? I may be overthinking this but this sounds like a reasonable explanation for Rafael to return the gold, especially after going through all that trouble to steal it in the first place.
@@anshallu3235 I think the professor has also has past, like in the 2nd part of season 5 we started to learn more about the professor’s childhood. I just think there’s more to him than what we’ve seen already.

If they went on with Axel, it would have been a drag, it served its purpose as a misdirection and after its not important imo so its good the show left it this way

I loved every bit of this series. It will last long in my memories. But yes, I had this query in my mind what professor wrote in that letter that changed the mind of Rafael.
Rafael was part of the plan ...it was a smokescreen
Rafael was part of the plan ...it was a smokescreen
Rafael was part of the plan ...it was a smokescreen
The note said something along the lines of 'Enjoy your Viking gold'
The Professor convinced Rafael that the gold he'd stolen was brass and that if he wanted a cut of the real gold he needed that back to enact his plan.
Otherwise what's on a scrap of paper that small to convince someone to give up all 90 tons of gold, then ask 'do you think he will give you your share?'
If Rafael thought he had the real gold wouldn't he just take his share then?
He was convinced his gold was brass and that if he wanted the real gold he'd have to give back the brass gold otherwise they couldn't fool Tamayo.
Not a perfect theory but still this is the best theory. all the other theories have serious stretches of logic
I like this theory but why would he just believe the professors word & not even do a simple test to check if gold was real
no, I doubt that, logistically it doesn't make sense. because think of the water sewage where they make the ingot.
Nah too many holes in the theory he can check the gold and why would he believe it’s fake when he took it from where the real gold would be according to their plan
The professor's early life should be covered in a new series. I know grad school can be boring but he would make it super exciting
I bet that the note said "Directors want to end this show"
4:45 The gang got very rich after the first heist, so they could afford to hire many people to succeed on their second heist. The "guy in the shadows" that helped them with the trucks was just someone they hired to follow that order

I just wanna kno wtf the note said
@@jquankash9648 The note said, meet you at 7 and let's have a beer after the days shooting is done.
Heist
Tatiana
Heres my theory: He didn’t do it for his dad he did it cause they knew the plan. It also shows that Tatianna is the one in command in the scenes and especially at the end when everyone has a gun except him. I thought the note just said "we aren’t giving back the gold you’ll have your share" or something cause at the end Tatianna asks him if he actually believes the professor will give actually him his cut
Absolutely this is the case.

Stealing from your own uncle wasn't even a heist at all but instead it was straight up betrayal. Rafael said he trusted his family but he betrayed his uncle just to "honor" his dead father? Rafael is a narcissistic cold blooded brat.
He betrayed his own dad. So I'm not surprised he betrayed his uncle.
The most annoying part to me is that after gandia executed Nairobi, he was able to somersault his way out of the room when everyone was firing automatic weapons at him.
Honstly i feel like berlins son was always in on it. Thats the part of the plan nobody knew except the professor.
Right I think it was all planned
They left the biggest question : How is Tokyo still narrating in Volume 2 if she is dead??????
I was looking for this
They didn't. They did show us in part 5 ep 2 that spirits actually exist in money heist universe and they can communicate too. Tokyo spirit communicated with rio and lisbon so either after her death her spirit was narrating the rest of the heist or it was her spirit all along which was narrating us all the the hesits.
Iluminanti bro🤣
It was always the spirit who was saying the story from the beginning.
How did they take that huge oil pump extractor inside the bank of Spain. They didn't show us that.

And Tokyo went out like BOSS💖👍👍
Tamayo was as foolish as Arturo 😂😂
Not nearly as foolish. Arturo was an annoying idiot and coward with a hero complex. Tamayo was a stubborn and corrupt cop willing to cross any line to get the job done. He was much less irritating of a character than Arturo, and that’s why he worked better as the main antagonist for the last season

Honestly. That’s milking the show. I don’t like that they are going to probably do that. Everything has an ending. Let the show die in peace
His father would've been proud of him, " If you want anything in this world, you have to steel it from someone else..."
They could just say they don’t know because they left the child somewhere unknown
@@lemonade8846 + arturo conditions is dying now, maybe he will search for his biological son after recover

I saw someone speculate that the note said "Viking gold" since they also replaced the National gold with tin, same as the viking heist.
I wonder if the writer of this script didn't choose to make a movie, but used it to rob for real, would it be possible for everyone?
I'm just amazed they had arms, tech, scrubs, and food for hostages!
Message for sure would be "Change will be exquisite"...... line itself suggest Berlin's move during Viking heist thus gold ain't going anywhere.... ofcourse a cryptic and obvious message isn't that obvious............
the note wasn't so burning, when he was reading it, Prof. sounds were in the backround saying it is our guarantee to be free
Berlin is a state of art himself
The note said, "I am your dad"😅🤣
1 theory from reddit is (& if u actually re-watch it) what Rafael & Tatiana stole were fake ingots (marked with Dali face logo). The real ones that they made our of pellets doesn't have that. Thats why it was easy for Rafael to "let it go" and instead settle for a cut coz he never had the real gold in the first place.
I noticed that, however I just took it as another plot hole, which this serie is completely full of. This video doesn't explain anything tbh
The dali faces were part of the molds so it would make sense for all the gold ingots to have them. The same molds were probably used for the copper ingots as well, so all the ingots in the vault at the end also have them.

it was prepared long before the plan started, swapping was always part of the plan. Like the professor explained, having gold is an illusion because no one pays for anything in gold
