AKA "How to win a Tony in 5 minutes." Renee Elise Goldsberry is perfection.
So say we all.
The single most brilliant piece of theater I’ve seen. To pull that off is incredible
Fantastic reaction! The actors talk a lot about how learning the choreography up to 'Helpless' nearly breaks their brains.. and THEN they get told for this song 'oh you do everything you just did in reverse' and how it makes people wonder how they're going to get through it. Renee won a Tony for this role and it's easy to see why. So glad to see more of your experience!
Alexander wasn't playing between the two sisters... Angelica was just very taken with him when they first met. But she saw her sister was totally smitten so she introduced them, and never told either of them how she really felt. Angelica and Alexander kinda keep up the flirty dialog, even as time goes on, but it never goes beyond that.
Yeah, if I remember, they were both attracted to each other because they just really *got* each other both psychologically and intellectually, but they never did anything about it. People tried to make claims, but it never went anywhere.
@@ms_scribbles Mostly because Angelica was already married at the time, but back then it was more acceptable to have subtly flirtatious relationships because marriage was still more of a property exchange, so long as nothing was too explicit to surpass deniability. They definitely talked in semi-romantic ways, but the part about introducing him to Eliza wasn't so much about Eliza irl
I don’t think Angelica would’ve let it go beyond that anyway but that only becomes apparent later
@@ms_scribbles that is true. For the majority of their life Angelica stayed in London and Eliza was very much aware of this correspondence. Angelica also wrote a letter to Eliza teasing her that says “If you were as generous as romans you would share him!”
LMM said that when you read their letters they match so much intellectually that they could be soulmates!!
Angelica was the oldest so she had to marry in her social standing Eliza who was the 2nd born that's how rich folks work..Hamilton didn't have the $$ for her to marry him.
Fantastic reaction! Renee belting out “May you always…. be satisfied…” gets me. Every. Single. Time. LMM is a musical & lyrical genius! The double use of words like “union” & “satisfied” as in marriage & country were amazing! The turntable floors were fabulous in getting across the motif of time... passing, pausing, spinning, rewinding, running out.... Thanks for sharing this with us, your RUclips QoFyGang!
guys, i'm wondering... what if satisfied were performed instead of yorktown at the tony awards... CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT? standing ovation forever for the theatre love of our lives, renée
Satisfied relied on the rotating stage quite a bit, which they probably didn't have at the location the tonys had been held that year.
Seen this 101 times and never noticed the gasp! Bravo!
Honestly one of the best pieces of Broadway pieces I’ve ever experienced
Lin Manuel Miranda is a prodigy! The entire cast was magnificent! History in the making and feeling grateful to be a part of it! Loved your reaction! Good vibes always, from NYC!
They weren’t dating. They had a flirtation and they were cognizant that their attraction was intense. They met their match, but they both had to social climb. So, Angelica can not become involved with Alexander. It’s a step down for an eldest daughter, who needs to make a good match and who is ambitious. Couple that with her sister’s falling so hard for Alexander… Angelica let’s her head rule her heart. Eliza is all heart. I love this scene , though it may not be historically accurate, it just speaks to me. I want to see Angelica go with her heart, even though their union may have been doomed by their very natures.
Thanks for clearing that up :)
Of course, that is how Lin wrote it. None of this actually happened in real life, well, apart from Alexander meeting Eliza and then marrying. (Angelica was married and had 2 kids when Alex met Eliza. Angelica had 2 brothers so no need for her to social climb).
@@flowerpower3082there was quite a bit of passion in Alexander and angelicas letters so some historians presume there might have been something between them. Second even if she had brothers the eldest sister was still expected to marry up(or very least not marry down)
I can't wait for you to post your reaction to Guns and Ships. That song has more words in it than some entire Broadway shows, it seems.
Have been totally in love with Helpless/Satisfied since the Original Broadway Cast Album came out in 2015. Seeing the staging/choreography years later made it my favorite part of the musical. Your reaction made it new all over again. So Fun.
I always say nobody could ever do it better than renee
The choreography for this song is just astounding, from the reverse to the slow motion to speeding up.
This was great theater. Not great history. Many liberties were taken. But it is key for character development. And gives the audience a foundation for what comes later. As well as setting Angelica’s theme and giving the actress a stellar opportunity. When I saw this in Chicago, the last two lines broke my heart. And I could hear weeping around me.
Philip dies after after 19 songs in Act 2, which is how old he lived to be. The entire musical has 47 songs which is how old Hamilton lived to be.
Damn
Wait...
3:15 Professional theater typically has eight shows a week! Tuesday through Sunday evening performances plus two matinees -- Saturday and Sunday, or Wednesday and Saturday --every week! It must be grueling like I can't even imagine. And even doing what you love -- something you have trained and practiced and rehearsed for years to learn -- must get to be tedious after a while.
there's too many good songs in this musical to pick a favorite, but this one is probably the one i was first most impressed by! everything about it is just too good!
This is one of the best songs in the show. But it's a tough match because there are so many good ones. But Elise is so damn amazing you got to give it to her. Even if I can keep up with the song, I'm not hiring the notes she is with such amazing perfection. Great video as well, glad you liked as well.
There's no George Washington in My Shot. He's introduced in Right Hand Man.
I enjoyed this so so much you were so happy watching and analyzing everything
Yo ngl this is the best reaction to this performance, I've been looking for a long time I thought I'll never be satisfied

Dayly ... and sometimes twice a day .... incredible
Best song in the musical!🤩🤩❤️
This show as to be seen in the flesh if possible , you don't know where to look there's that much going on. amazing show and so socially relevant today
Absolutely amazing...
Going to see Renee this year & absolutely can’t wait
Thats exciting
That wasn't a gasp - it was the sound of a wooden match lighting. Because she strikes him (striking a match) and he sets her aflame.
Lin-Manuel Miranda is a Genius
They were not dating. She realizes that he doesn’t have any money so although she’s attracted to him she won’t date him because she doesn’t want to interfere with her family’s fortune but she will hand him off to his sister
They weren't dating they just met.
Beautiful 🤩
Should be titled, how you earn a tony in 8 minutes.
True words!
😍💥
You shouldn't make your window so small. Many of us have already seen Hamilton. We want to watch YOU watching Hamilton. We can't do that if we have to squint to see you.
"Shouldn't" ... Oh yeah I totally planned to make myself small because there could be no other reason why I did that. right? You're free to not watch it
@@QofyReacts And you're free not to get so snippy and defensive. I was merely suggesting we like you and want to see you. Sorry if that offended you.,
🙎🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
Frustrated when you people do not know the story at all, and because you are exclaiming throughout the performance, you miss so much and then you make these silly decisions.
“You people” smh. After watching this small clip I went on to watch the full movie on Patreon, watched it live in London and then watched it perform live in New York… because of this tiny clip that I watched I became a big fan of Hamilton.
People like you who think they are experts on how things should be done are always and will always be pathetic. Have a nice life
@@QofyReacts not pathetic.. but one assumes reactions will allow one to hear the song performed …. I didn’t need this to go see the play… saw it on Broadway, because I love theater, but the work on this play is beautiful and to hear someone make noise throughout this exquisite singing is a waste.
@@twittertwice Complaining about not hearing the song through without hearing my noise on a reaction video is like complaining about your phone at a food restaurant... you're in the wrong place. I recommend Spotify or Watch the whole movie. I promise you, my noise is not there
Here come Lin Manuel ruining every scene he comes in with his weak ass vocals
Lin has a great voice, he's not supposed to be perfect
Lmaooo
Listen to him rap, it is much better. "My Shot" is one of his best moments.
