IRL, the biggest consideration with polyamory is that communication is tricky in all romantic relationships, so more people is more risk of miscommunication… you’re introducing a lot of margin of error the second you suggest transitioning out of an initially monogamous dynamic, since degrees of enthusiasm between participants may vary but there’s a lot of pressure for the less enthused to compromise… 100 Girlfriends is a lot less dicey since Rentaro is upfront about “I’m doing a polycule” from go. …also, just, like, WAY better written and drawn all around.

Speaking of 4th wall breaks: there's a chapter in the manga where it's stated that Rentarou worked as an assistant to Nozawa-sensei (the manga's illustrator) to ease her workload since drawing so many characters in every chapter is exhausting but she still insisted on drawing all of them. My man litterally became a Demiurge God incarnated in a world he partecipated in creating, all to show his gratitutude to his own author for showing all of his girlfriends equal love and care. And as she has stated to be Rentarou family herself, some say Nozawa-sensei is actually one of the 100 girlfriends (possibly the 100th), which would make Rentarou a multiverse level boyfriend. I seriously don't know how anyone could ever even think of topping this Man, at this point.
Nozawa-sensei might be one of the girlfriends if the god of love are drinking while watching Castle in the Sky as shown in the omake. We know that is a possibility but God of Love didn’t drink while watching so it didn’t happen.

The thing that amazes me the most is that the Mangaka wrote an MC with a lot of Girlfriends without neglecting even 1 girlfriend in the show. Its not just a challenge for Rentarou, its a challenge for the Mangaka's writing skills too.
and i think MC knows really well on how to win their heart.. with the double pink fourleaf clover.. when MC says each quirck about each girl that the girls didnt know about it.. MC knows what to say to win their heart, every.single.minute.
I feel like this could also be a thought endurance experiment, since how do you make 101 characters ( + MC) that are all apart of the main cast, and need the same amount of screen time, that’s just crazy, but would be really entertaining, and respected if pulled off well in the end.
I'm always amazed by how the author mixed the girls up and then finding a common interest in them and put them as a group for a specific chapter. You would think Karane is the only Tsundere of the group, turns out other girls also has their own way to show their tsundere side AND IT MAKES SENSE related to the "gimmick" they have. or how the author expands some girls' character, and based on my own personal experience, makes the reader appreciate the girl whom they once less appreciate (for me, it's Mimimi, and now I love her lol)

The fact that there is still chemistry between each other after 26 girlfriends is a huge writing feat that even most sit-coms couldnt handle that many characters. The author being commited to it makes me even more invested on each character dynamic Its not just a love polygon or a love dodecahedron; its a love web with Rentarou in the center of it all Edit: 27 girlfriends [21/12/23] 28th [17/03/24] 29 actually [2/6/24]
Not only sitcoms. In general it is a miracle if a story in general managed to have their cast of 10 or more characters (main characters, secondary characters, terciary characters and even one shot characters) have relevance, chemistry or just general interactions between each other and ALL of them feel like "yeah, the story wouldn't be the same without them" even the best leave a character behind. Using the (few) examples I know. "The Legendary hero is dead" is an example where almost ALL the cast feels necessary and relevant to some degree except Dominique or YuGiOH SEVENS where the only exception might be the fishing club (and even they had some minor relevancy) Or even Avatar the last airbender that had some characters that makes you think "yeah... we could easily cut them out and nothing changes" like that prisoner from the fire nation that tags along when zuko and sokka rescue sokka's father and suki and just dissapears after next episode.
That's the reason I've always liked Harem animes, I feel like its a test of the author's skills. The premise is already fucked so to sell it and get the audience to suspend their disbelief and get invested in the characters, the characters have to be really fucking good. There is also a degree of romance that almost can't even be achieved without being in one of these types of situations. Its basically like a Romeo and Juliette type of situation. True Love is being willing to disregard societal norms or sacrifice to follow your heart.

What sold me on the series at the beginning was when Rentarou was talking to "Best Friend A" only for him to never appear again, and from that I immediately saw that the author knew what he was doing
As someone who can’t stand the harem genre, I kept seeing this manga around and finally, caved. Now I’m fully caught up and love every second of it. It’s just so wholesome, the love, the friendship the absurdity of their hardship but also solution, everything’s so over the top but the messaging shines through without ever feeling forced or cringe. It’s a manga you can read any time of day knowing it’s going to be a good time

I remember finding the manga for this one day at my local manga shop, reading the blerb on the back, and thinking to myself, "yep, this sounds like my kind of garbage."
This manga is the epitome of the classic Gigguk quote "sometimes it takes a real man, to become best girl." Because as the 100 girlfriends community says, most harems you want the harem. This series you want to be part of the harem.
What I love about this series is that you do not want to date the girls. Not only because you respect Rentarou, but it makes you WANNA DATE RENTAROU. My guy's rizz is so strong that it even pulls the viewers to his side.

The main reason several previous harem series fell flat; lack of character personality and lack of genuine caring and respect between everyone in the group. If this ever happened in reality, though, is you would have every envious mofo and “he’s not respecting wimminz!” type trying to tear them apart in every conceivably degenerate way possible. Your supposed best make friends would despise you out if jealousy and every girl’s parents would be harassing the lot of you at every opportunity. There’s plenty of drama that would unfold, and the only thing could genuinely keep it together is divine intervention, which only happens in anime…luckily for this show’s protagonist.

Lessssss go 100kan video! I was waiting for an anime adaptation since I read about first 10 chapters. This is real great story with gigachad MC, hilarious moments and interesting relationships between girls. One of the best harems for sure!
This anime really was a fun surprise of being genuinely entertaining and funny despite the initial impression the title and synopsis gives off. This series is very self-aware of its identity and takes full advantage of it and plays off the genre in new and interesting ways! I was surprised by the dedication to making each of the girls have an unique personality and features and the MC is a genuinely good person who deserves happiness.
The anime cut it off, but in the first chapter god explained that because of the whole soulmate situation, Rentarou's love luck got screwed up so he wasn't able to pursue any romance outside of the soulmates, no matter how hard he tried. @@bonfist7277

I’ve been reading this since chapter 1 and it is unironically my favorite manga. My biggest regret in life is knowing I will absolutely die before I see it’s conclusion.
This show is perfect because it drops all attempts at being serious and presents a fun story instead. You can tell why all the girls love Rentarou and are willing to do the giant harem with him, he’s just a giant gigachad. Bro knows everything about all of them and goes so above and beyond it’s crazy. Love the manga, and the anime has been a fantastic adaption.

Everything about this show makes it the masterpiece that it is The story is absolutely amazing. The comedy is unapologetic and it isnt afraid to do crazy things. Every girl is unique, interesting, entertaining and deep. The art is fucking fabulous. The characters get new clothes, new hairstyles like every other episode and they all look amazing The anime adaption is brilliant. Bibiry animation knocked it out of the park. The animation is beautiful and the music is amazing The voice actors are amazing, as always There isnt a single aspect of this series that is half assed. Every scene, every frame, every panel is given the upmost love and care and it really shines through

I've been introduced to 100 Girlfriends as a good harem genre parody and I really hope it will stay that way unlike other shows that tried to be a parody and later fell into the same cliches and tropes it was originally making fun of
The other way around actually. The parodies and absurdist comedy actually gets even more insane. Though in recent chapters the author is leaning more towards character development.
I intended to watch this show self insert style, just because I figured I could. I know Rentarou's pain of unrequited affection, though im sitting at almost 50 not 100. I start watching and color me shocked when this show was goated. Not only was it funny, not only was the fanservice on point, and the girls on point...but the MC had a personality. Also I've been in a poly relationship before so one of my favorite things is that the girls have chemistry with eachother too. It's honestly ridiculous. This is the goat of harem anime.
One thing is that this series is pretty stupid and funny but it also gives all of the characters an actual background, story and personality. It's not just "cute girl number 4".
This anime has made me laugh out loud so many times. I was completly blown away that I was actually entertained by something I was expecting to enjoy as a guilty trash watch. The humour is fun, not japan specific ecchi cliche humour common in this genre. This anime made all other seasonal romance anime (Love is War, Tora Dora , and the like are exeptions) unwatchible by comparison. I was surprise that Gigguk also picked it to do a video about it, but I am happy that it can now be recommended to more people.
As someone who has been reading this for years, it makes me so happy to finally see it animated, and I really hope it makes it to like 4 or 5 seasons, the whole voice acting is going to be a full on wildfire

Speaking of 4th wall breaks: there's a chapter in the manga where it's stated that Rentarou worked as an assistant to Nozawa-sensei (the manga's illustrator) to ease her workload since drawing so many characters in every chapter is exhausting but she still insisted on drawing all of them.
My man litterally became a Demiurge God incarnated in a world he partecipated in creating, all to show his gratitutude to his own author for showing all of his girlfriends equal love and care.
And as she has stated to be Rentarou family herself, some say Nozawa-sensei is actually one of the 100 girlfriends (possibly the 100th), which would make Rentarou a multiverse level boyfriend.
I seriously don't know how anyone could ever even think of topping this Man, at this point.
Nozawa-sensei might be one of the girlfriends if the god of love are drinking while watching Castle in the Sky as shown in the omake. We know that is a possibility but God of Love didn’t drink while watching so it didn’t happen.

The thing that amazes me the most is that the Mangaka wrote an MC with a lot of Girlfriends without neglecting even 1 girlfriend in the show. Its not just a challenge for Rentarou, its a challenge for the Mangaka's writing skills too.

You would think Karane is the only Tsundere of the group, turns out other girls also has their own way to show their tsundere side AND IT MAKES SENSE related to the "gimmick" they have.
or how the author expands some girls' character, and based on my own personal experience, makes the reader appreciate the girl whom they once less appreciate (for me, it's Mimimi, and now I love her lol)

The fact that there is still chemistry between each other after 26 girlfriends is a huge writing feat that even most sit-coms couldnt handle that many characters. The author being commited to it makes me even more invested on each character dynamic

In general it is a miracle if a story in general managed to have their cast of 10 or more characters (main characters, secondary characters, terciary characters and even one shot characters) have relevance, chemistry or just general interactions between each other and ALL of them feel like "yeah, the story wouldn't be the same without them"
even the best leave a character behind. Using the (few) examples I know.
"The Legendary hero is dead" is an example where almost ALL the cast feels necessary and relevant to some degree except Dominique
or YuGiOH SEVENS where the only exception might be the fishing club (and even they had some minor relevancy)
Or even Avatar the last airbender that had some characters that makes you think "yeah... we could easily cut them out and nothing changes" like that prisoner from the fire nation that tags along when zuko and sokka rescue sokka's father and suki and just dissapears after next episode.
That's the reason I've always liked Harem animes, I feel like its a test of the author's skills. The premise is already fucked so to sell it and get the audience to suspend their disbelief and get invested in the characters, the characters have to be really fucking good.
There is also a degree of romance that almost can't even be achieved without being in one of these types of situations. Its basically like a Romeo and Juliette type of situation. True Love is being willing to disregard societal norms or sacrifice to follow your heart.

What sold me on the series at the beginning was when Rentarou was talking to "Best Friend A" only for him to never appear again, and from that I immediately saw that the author knew what he was doing

It’s a manga you can read any time of day knowing it’s going to be a good time

This might single-handedly be the most unhinged, crazy, and unbelievable harem anime I have ever seen. And I love it.

The main reason several previous harem series fell flat; lack of character personality and lack of genuine caring and respect between everyone in the group.
If this ever happened in reality, though, is you would have every envious mofo and “he’s not respecting wimminz!” type trying to tear them apart in every conceivably degenerate way possible. Your supposed best make friends would despise you out if jealousy and every girl’s parents would be harassing the lot of you at every opportunity. There’s plenty of drama that would unfold, and the only thing could genuinely keep it together is divine intervention, which only happens in anime…luckily for this show’s protagonist.

The thing that usually irritates me about most manga/anime harem is that characters are introduced, then a few take the spotlight and the rest are background characters. Lessssss go 100kan video! I was waiting for an anime adaptation since I read about first 10 chapters. This is real great story with gigachad MC, hilarious moments and interesting relationships between girls. One of the best harems for sure!
This anime really was a fun surprise of being genuinely entertaining and funny despite the initial impression the title and synopsis gives off. This series is very self-aware of its identity and takes full advantage of it and plays off the genre in new and interesting ways! I was surprised by the dedication to making each of the girls have an unique personality and features and the MC is a genuinely good person who deserves happiness.

The anime cut it off, but in the first chapter god explained that because of the whole soulmate situation, Rentarou's love luck got screwed up so he wasn't able to pursue any romance outside of the soulmates, no matter how hard he tried. @@bonfist7277

I’ve been reading this since chapter 1 and it is unironically my favorite manga.
My biggest regret in life is knowing I will absolutely die before I see it’s conclusion.
This show is perfect because it drops all attempts at being serious and presents a fun story instead. You can tell why all the girls love Rentarou and are willing to do the giant harem with him, he’s just a giant gigachad. Bro knows everything about all of them and goes so above and beyond it’s crazy. Love the manga, and the anime has been a fantastic adaption.

I honestly dont like it for the same reason many people like it, as well as the fact I fucking truly despise harems/polyamory which ruined the show even more. The exaggeration doesn't really get me and kinda just annoys me even more than normal harems do, and I had to drop it episode 4 because I literally could not take it anymore. I geniunely feel like its lazy to make the humor only good due to the exaggeration/extremity. I also just fucking hate harems because of some childhood trauma lmao

@@InoriVoid I kind of agree with you, but it is an idealization of a fantasy. Someone is into it for some reason so it’ll sell. Personally, I don’t know if I could get into it. I’d really like to see a realistic depiction of a human’s love life in an anime at some point though.

What really got me into this show is its comedy and how it doesn't take itself seriously and parodies other shows. My favourite anime of all time is Gintama so I was immediately drawn to this show when it gave off the same humour that Gintama has which I haven't seen another show do

Of course they each have their own humour alongside that but the main elements are present in both

I've been introduced to 100 Girlfriends as a good harem genre parody and I really hope it will stay that way unlike other shows that tried to be a parody and later fell into the same cliches and tropes it was originally making fun of

I intended to watch this show self insert style, just because I figured I could. I know Rentarou's pain of unrequited affection, though im sitting at almost 50 not 100. I start watching and color me shocked when this show was goated. Not only was it funny, not only was the fanservice on point, and the girls on point...but the MC had a personality. Also I've been in a poly relationship before so one of my favorite things is that the girls have chemistry with eachother too. It's honestly ridiculous. This is the goat of harem anime.

One thing is that this series is pretty stupid and funny but it also gives all of the characters an actual background, story and personality. It's not just "cute girl number 4".
This anime has made me laugh out loud so many times. I was completly blown away that I was actually entertained by something I was expecting to enjoy as a guilty trash watch. The humour is fun, not japan specific ecchi cliche humour common in this genre. This anime made all other seasonal romance anime (Love is War, Tora Dora , and the like are exeptions) unwatchible by comparison. I was surprise that Gigguk also picked it to do a video about it, but I am happy that it can now be recommended to more people.
