I love my Katana 50 MkI so much, so I got a 50 MkII as well. I connect them via the Radial Big Shot and now I've got killer wet/dry glory. I'll always have these amps. Now, that Blackstar sounds pretty sweet too!

      That’s sounds ace!
I preferred my MKI to MKII as it’s a bit more simple but they’re both great for sure.
Think I’ll get a cab for the blackstar and see what that does for it

@@thenovicenoisemaker The MkI is simpler, but the MkII gives you more at one time, so together they are excellent. A cab will really open things up for you! Enjoy!

Had the Boss katana 50 mk2 couldn't gel with it. Got the Blackstar ht1r head with a 10inch greenback speaker cabinet loved it. Then got the ht5r MK2 head and loved it but to be honest for home use the ht1r head was good enough and think i wasted money upgrading.
Like said in previous video i have gone digital now valeton gp200 lt and loving it.
Have you ever tried a prs guitar looking for that one guitar that does it all

I would expected the best sound would be from the Blackstar then the Katana and last MG. However, my ears say MG first, Blackstar then Katana. If you put the MG thru a 1x12 cab with a greenback it would sound even better (MG's are not the easiest amps to dial in a good tone, you have to find that that sweet spot, this can take a little time/skill). Not sure if you can do that with the MG15. I know you can with a MG100DFX combo though.

      Hi Stuart
I agree with the order as does another viewer. The Marshall is surprisingly good and a decent enough pedal platform too.

Without them being DI'd or miked up, the sound on this video is not really going to give people a good idea of what the things actually sound like in situ - not forgetting youtube processing as well, which impacts on EQ quite a bit, as of course does the end user's sound set up - so opinions based off purely hearing the audio on this (or any) video are going to be tricky for anyone who doesn't know these amps personally. I have owned all three of these amps at various times however, and so I'll throw in my opinion, which people can feel free to agree or disagree with:
Of the three, the only one I still have is the Marshall. There are a few versions of the MG15, some with and some without the effects (which incidentally, are studio quality and great if you don't want to have stomp boxes all over the place) but either way, considering the MG15 is a tranny amp, it makes a pretty good stab at producing the classic Marshall valve sound, certainly better than anyone has any right to expect from a small tranny combo. In fact, even its smaller sibling - the MG10 - also has a fairly credible stab at producing the Marshall sound. I have one of those too. It's worth bearing in mind however that you'll pay more for the MG15 versions with the built-in digital effects, and although they will save you money and space in terms of not requiring you to have an effects pedal board or rack, for home recording you'd probably want a clean signal and to add these effects in post with VSTs in a DAW (which are often free), so although those effects sound great and if just for home practice usage, then they are a total no-brainer in terms of value and utility, but for gigging or recording, it's worth considering whether or not you'd find them as practical or versatile as apedal board and some VSTs.
The MG15 on full throttle is (at a stretch) just about loud enough to get away with using it for a pub gig if it one didn't want, or wasn't able to mike it up to a PA, yet it still manages a credible overdriven sound at 'bedroom' or home recording volumes, so although it's difficult to imagine just one amp being an all-round solution for several guitar-playing scenarios, as long as one was happy with that kind of 'British rock' 100 watt head and cabinet amp sound it attempts to replicate, it'd be at least a contender for such a 'one size fits all' wish. If I was to try to sum up what that MG15 sounds like, I'd say if you listen to some old Status Quo stuff, or maybe the New York Dolls, that'd put you in the audio ballpark of what single coils, humbuckers and P90s variously sound like going through Marshall amps. That's what the MG15 will more or less give you, although if you throw a Tube Screamer into your set up, it will probably sound a bit more like you're actually going through a Marshall head and a miked up cabinet rather than a relatively inexpensive combo amp.
Realistically (for both gigging and home recording, or even just messing about), if one wanted to have some versatility in tonal range, it'd probably be better to have a Fender amp alongside the Marshall so that kind of clean sound Fender amps are known for would also be an available option (this is in fact the case for me). Failing that, one could always go for something which is totally clean and then throw some amp modeling gizmo or post processing VST in a DAW at it, but where's the fun in that? Ultimately we're all the kind of people who like to have our toys (I counted mine the other day and realised I have 28 guitars). I doubt I'll ever have 28 amps (currently I have six and that number is not very likely to change), but if I had to only have one amp, my MG15 would certainly be in the running.
There is just something more visceral about having a physical amplifier to plug into. Beyond all that, and irrespective of the sounds coming out of any of them, there is something undeniably cool about having that Marshall logo on a bit of gear in your room, which is something neither of the other two contenders will ever be able to match.

Wow, thank you for the long reply.
I do like the Marshall and I have a tubescreamee too. It’s a good pedal platform although the blackstar is maybe a bit better still for that. Great amps.
      Thanks for tuning in, appreciate
