Abby, you're being obtuse and purposefully misunderstanding the point of barbieland- it is obvious that Barbieland is *not* a utopia precisely *because* of the way that Ken's are treated. Did you just miss half the movie where the Ken's were being treated like crap and ignored by Barbie's?
You’re right in that it’s not a requirement, but it is a good thing and a natural thing that comes along with two becoming one flesh in scriptural and God approved sexual relationship. “For this is what the LORD says- he who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited- he says: “I am the LORD, and there is no other.” Isaiah 45 18 There are a lot of blessings to children, including that if you raise them well when they are young, they will care for you while you are old, sadly that isn’t current culture, but it is God’s culture for those who belong to and follow him. There is less than a 1% chance of divorce went two virgins marry, they also report the most sexual satisfaction. Simply put, God‘s ways are best. Children are a blessing from the Lord. For far more reasons than I listed. We just need to get back to God’s priorities not our ideas that fail us.
Her makeup is really pretty. Too bad she is a big fat liar about feminism. I am a feminist who loves babies and I love men. True feminists may not be kid people (a lot of people who aren’t feminists aren’t kid people), but true feminists do not “hate men”. If we feminists want equal opportunity and treatment for both men and women, we need men on our side.
@@toga4900 OOOOooooh you dont say??? Welll! That makes ALL the difference. that must mean Abby is wrong and you are the genius of planet earth. Woooooooooow
@brassattacks2411 ???? It just doesn't make sense to be like "where's the babies?" about a fictional world designed around a toy that was made to be the antithesis of the baby doll. The whole point of the barbie doll creation was that she was the first doll that wasn't a baby. They go over this in the first scene of the movie lmao.
I like the switch up where the Barbie producer is wearing black and the Oppenheimer producer is wearing pink I was expecting it the other way around 😂😂😂
Barbie land isn’t the ideal reality it’s just supposed to be the one that Barbie’s live in and they were made specifically because all of the dolls at the time were babies so they don’t have babies, or they didn’t until fairly recently, there was also a pregnant Barbie . I do kind of agree that they should’ve had babies there because they should be showing women and girls that they can be successful in their careers and lives with children and I think that’s why Gloria and Sasha were in the movie
Exactly...it's so ironic that she's always caping for men and judging women's worth based on them not being "modest enough" yet with all her appeal to men they still sexualize and dehumanize her over her breasts
Everyone who's mad about the movie seemed to miss the part where when Ken tries to obtain respect and jobs just for being a man, he gets declined. Ken thought that the normal working of the world is patriarchal, because it was such a stark contrast between Barbieland, where men are being opressed, and the real world, where is equal opportunity, based on qualifications and skills. I think the movie did a good job in highlighting how the Kens are oppressed, and how neither of the extremes (patriarchy or matriarchy) are healthy and sustainable. Also, with the babies. The whole movie starts with a representation of how the birth of Barbie just erased wanting to be a mother from little girls. Then makes references to how Midge, the pregnant doll, got discontinued, which is criticized in the movie. Not to mention how there is an absolutely beautiful plotline between the mother and daughter main characters, and the deepening of their connection. Edit: of course, not going to deny the feminist subtone of the movie, because it's Barbie. It can't be anything else but feminist, since Barbie, the toy itself was the creation of a feminist, spreading the idea of feminism. I think there was a nice balance in keeping the original idea and history of the Barbie doll, and showcasing the negative effects of extreme feminism that it represents.
Yeah, except dads have to make the same career choice, spend time with their children (building confidence, bonds, resilience) or over focus on work. Statistically, married men are spending more and more time with their kids. That’s a great thing.
I wonder why there are no kids, there are kid barbies, like the only one of Barbie's sisters that they mentioned in the movie was Skipper when Stacy and Kelly weren't mentioned or shown at all. Also I think the point was that in the time period barbieland is stuck in for the kens, a lot of women were stuck in their roles due to societal expectations even if they wanted to be housewives or mothers, those that didn't or were in abusive relationships didn't have much choice since they couldn't get jobs to support themselves otherwise. The Kens aren't able to find their own fulfillment and purpose because they were already told immediately that their purpose is "beach" or "barbie's boyfriend" or for women back in the day it was "have baby and cook for husband". It's not trying to show "the best version of the world" at all, Ken is literally homeless, but I believe it's trying to show how both men and women place societal expectations based on gender on themselves and the other gender, and how bad it used to be way back in the day just with sexes reversed
@@BrLaDu yea thats a good point about kid barbies being recent, I looked it up and Skipper came out in the 60s so wayyy before Stacy and Kelly, but still they came out in the early 90s so I'm surprised there wasnt even a reference to them
True- I saw the movie and I don’t enjoy fantasy. The story was ridiculous. The reason they made the movie was to satisfy whatever is trending so they sell more tickets. It’s all about making money. It’s nonsense. Fake. I found the story hollow, stupid and not at all related to real life. And it is not a feminist movie. It is strange.
In any African countries, the women work the fields, take care of the kids and take care of the home, the men sit and watch but are there in case things go “South” as far as dangers to the family. Every “woke” woman should have to do that so they can feel empowered and be better than men and all that they dream about.
@Brian; at least those are the biased “pictures” and photos and videos that you have seen, thanks to Lachlan Murdoch’s slanted view, ain’t that right Brian aka Ben Shapiro aka Skirgailia 666 aka Lachlan Murdoch aka Volodymir Zelensky aka Mike Pence aka Joseph Stalin(stalling till 2024 when they turn 666), aka Wernher von Braun, aka Cotton Mather aka Elon Musk aka Mao aka Napoleon aka Ben Franklin aka George Washington aka Martin Luther aka Skirgailia 666 the “Man of sin” anti-Christ.
Are trad jewish women supposed to be on a public platform espousing their views ? Im confused...there are men watching these videos, surely this goes against fundamental theory or beliefs
so when a woman have babies, the babies are "holding them back" and they cant do anything else in their life except for being a mother...then when she wants to get an abortion ppl wanna switch sides...just let a woman live omg
True they didn’t bother to show how motherhood (a very central part of a lot of women’s femininity and female identity) could be in the “perfect world” only ostracised that one barbie for being pregnant.
Why do you think barbie land is supposed to represent a perfect world? It's literally just the world where all the barbies live and its acknowledged in the movie that it isn't perfect. I doubt you actually saw the movie, seeing as motherhood is one of, if not THE main theme.

They don’t have genitals? How are they gonna reproduce? Midge is pregnant because they build her doll to be pregnant. 😂

Mattel has lots of kids ...Skipper is 14, plus there are babies and toddlers
This is such a weird take. Its a movie about barbies??? the toys with smooth plastic gentials???

The way she randomly said 'it doesnt have babies in it' LMAOOOOO THAT'S THE BEST YOU COULD DO?- 😭😭😭😭😭😭🖖 NO OFFENCE-

There’s more lesbians catcalling and sexualising her than men 💀

barbieland sounds like paradise lol
Great idea. As an antinatalist, I think it's irresponsible and unethical to have children! Good job, Greta!
Barbie isn’t even real and you’re making a fuss over it
Tell you didn’t understand anything in the film, without telling you didn’t understand anything in the film:
Isn’t one of the Barbies pregnant though?
Yep
They discontinued Midge because there were complaints that she would promote teen pregnancy...no winning I guess
Somewhat interesting..
"There are no babies."
Really is a feminist wonderland huh 😅
Wtf
Barbie didn't have children.
Barbie is 19, they tried to have a pregnant barbie but people thought it promoted teen pregnancy. No winning with conservatives I guess 🤷
One of the barbies is pregnant tho??? As a throwback to that bizarre pregnant doll where you could remove the bump and take the baby out.
