The BEST boots I ever got and own were the ones my dad had custom made and received almost a year and a half after he was fitted for them. 3 months after he picked them up, he unexpectedly passed away and so I got them. We shared the same 12EE boot size. I’ve owned and wore my prized boots on special occasions ever since and they have more sentimental value for me than anything else. Dad’s Charlie Dunn’s are now mine.
I would love to own a Charlie Dunn boot he!s one of my favorite builders, I have a couple customs from another builder and love them - they were worth the $ spent.
I am so sick of everyone going to web base shopping. I want to go into a store and try a freaking boot on. I don’t want to spend 1-4 months sending boots back and forth to find a fit
I have a pair of Lucchese San Antonio Gavin's on right now. I have no idea who this guy in the video is but to rate those cheap brands over Lucchese tells me all I need to know. I have NEVER had Lucchese not respond to an email..I have 30 pairs of their boots and have been given their history as soon as I contact Lucchese Customer Support.
We own a horse farm and I must say for the money I think Chisos is BY FAR the best value out there. Lucchese used to be the standard (outside of custom) but now it seems as if Lucchese, even their boots in the $850 and up, are very lacking in quality. They are relying on reputation...I'm a Boomer Gen, so reputation matters but quality will prevail and that is how new reputations are built. As for Tecovas - I gave them a try. I bought my first pair on 7/30/19, I bought 12 or 13 pairs over the next year. 5 were for me (Banderas, Prescott and Cartwright - 3 colors) and the rest as gifts for my wife (Annies and whatever the Ostrich ones are called) and my son (Banderas). We bought a few online and the others at the store in Nashville TN. At first I was impressed with Tecovas, especially for the price point - obviously as I ordered so many so quickly. My wife wears hers very sparingly - when we go dancing - and she likes hers. She has a LOT of boots - high end hand made in TX, Luchesse boots and even some high end customs. She thinks the Tecovas are a bargain, particularly for one you are only going to wear for a few hours. My son is hard on boots around our property, and the Banderas have been OK, to be honest, for an under 300 dollar boot, it held up for almost a year and that is fine. I'm in a suit/sportcoat daily and I wear boots all day every day. I come home and change into jeans and put on another pair of boots - sometimes I leave the same boots on. The Tecovas are not meant to be worn 8-12 hours a day - at least for me. I took several pair to my cobbler to have resoled and he told me every pair had a broken shank. They were not that comfortable after a few months anyway and for my needs I needed better quality. I just told him to repair them and donate them to someone who could use them. I think Tecovas are probably best suited for those that want a fashion boot and is not going to be in them for 8+ hours every day. I have Black Jack boots and they are terrific!! Top notch quality and a LOT of options. I really prefer snip toes , so my options are limited with many makers. I will wear round toes on occasion but can't stand the wide toe (that is also hard for me to get into stirrups - and I do not buy boots that I can't ride in). I have never bought a pair of Rios of Mercedes, and not sure of their toe options, but I have a few friends that LOVE them. I'm looking at trying Heritage Boots, as I like the look of their boots, but they do not offer a military discount (Tecovas, Chisos and BJ all do) and in principal that's kept me from ordering (silly perhaps, but...). I only have one pair of Chisos - the roughout snip toe. I wear them constantly...to ride horses, to work, to dance, etc. I don't think I have another pair of boots that feel as nice as Chisos, I know I do not not have anything under $1K that compares. I'm hoping Chisos eventually offers more snip toes. I'm glad there are so many options out there, and I certainly enjoy your videos - you do a great job.

Just thought I'd add this since you mentioned you ride for a living. I wear an 11 D in Chisos and 11D or EE in Lucchese (handmade) but I needed an 10 1/2 D in the Heritage.

I commented a couple of months ago - I think Tecovas are fine for a fashion boot or a boot you’re not going to wear for 10-12 hours a day. I know Tecovas has brought a bunch of new boot wearers to the scene and they have some talented influencers working for them. I applaud the marketing department at Tecovas as they have certainly changed the market for folks wearing/considering boots. My wife still likes hers - for fashion. If she's wanting a quality boot for the day, she certainly isn't grabbing the Tecovas. I know some folks will get upset with this comment but while I applaud Tecovas marketing, I fear some of their customers will never wear a nice quality boot because they are being brand loyal while not knowing other brands of much better quality. Since originally commenting I now have 3 pairs of Chisos (all snip toes). I still rank Chisos as the best value boot and much better than the non handmade or custom Lucchese. My Top 5 (off the shelf) Boot Brands (in no particular order): 1. Chisos (Quality and Comfort from the get go...Best value) 2. Black Jack (Great Styles - nice quality) 3. Lucchese Handmades (Classic...quality has gone down hill but handmades are still nice) 4. Heritage (Very interesting /retro styled boots... without compromising quality...in addition, their Apache Oiled leather boot is an ABSOLUTELY terrific boot for working with horses) 5. Rios of Mercedes (simply a great quality boot)
Fine. But Chisos only makes a few boot styles, and every boot brand you mention is over $500, some well over. That’s a small, high-end segment of the market. You may as well try to tell the world they are missing out by not driving a Porsche every day. As far as Tecovas, it is far more than just clever marketing. They make a solid - if not high end - boot, in many styles and colors at a fair price. It’s no wonder they have had fast success.
If Tecova boots work for you , that’s great. They do not work for me and my lifestyle. I’m certainly different than most consumers (of boots) as I own a horse farm and I’m old (actually a Boomer Generation) - been wearing boots for all my life. I’m in boots from very early (3:30 am this morning) till I go to bed at night. I consider the brands I mentioned to be great value boots. Porsche makes a great sports car, I don’t consider it a great value, but I wouldn’t equate that to boots. I believe if you are buying boots to USE , then the better value is a boot that is top quality and while initially more expensive that boot will stand the test of time and in the long run be a better value. There are certainly a lot of boots that are very expensive and not a great value. As I said my wife likes her few pairs of Tecova boots. That boot fits a fashion need but when they wear out I won’t spend money putting on new soles/conditioning the inside, I’ll just tell her : let’s go boot shopping.

Update: Tecovas has opened in Rancho Cucamonga ca!!! Haven't worn boots since 1998, got my first pair in 25 years and they are COMFORTABLE! Size 13 D goat Hyde, the Doc model, wide square toe. Damn things fit like a glove (at the end of a standing 10 hr day), super soft with virtually no break in needed. Yep, looking at my next 2 pair already.....
I still find lucchese more comfortable than Chisos because of the added arch support the chisos feels like a tennis shoe over a boot and I prefer a boot to feel like a boot and prefer a traditional made boot.
I got started on some rubber soled square toe Cueros, liked 'em, and now I have a pair of Tecovas ostrich (lucky to find some barely used) and Rujo pythons. It's addictive, but worth it to have several pairs for different uses and occasions from knocking around in the woods to Saturday night. Definitely.....I love the Hondo's style....the only problem I have with them is I haven't be able to found a retail location anywhere close to me. I need look into Hondo.
I got to say, the best pair of boots that I've bought this year was the bullhide Justin boots and the tony lama tlx,.almost no breaking period and comfortable since day 1
I have Lucchese, Ariat and Tony Lama boots. I like the Lucchese Cliff ostrich boots the best. But just for pure comfort and fit, the Ariat's are pretty hard to beat. When price is considered, they are unbeatable, made in china or not.
Rose Anvil cut a pair of Ariat in half and did a review on his channel. The reason they are so comfortable is that they have a lot of sneaker tech in the heel and sole or the boot. The founders of Ariat helped develop the Reebok Pump.
@@Fin.mint. Yet , they are still better than all the others. Most people who comment negatively never have even worn a Lucchese. All brands put out some boots with flaws in them regularly.
Thanks for the video, interesting to see what people like. There are two that made the Top 5 that just don’t ring my bell at all, but hey different boots for different people! I’ve really enjoyed my Anderson Beans but love seeing what is out there! Glad there are many options to get people into boots.
I was a Lucchese guy for 25 years, and watched the quality decline. Then I bought my first pair of Chisos, #2’s. I can’t imagine ever wearing any other brand again.
R. Watson & Lucchese Boots for me. Tecovas are cool and simple. For seen reason I’m not at all a fan of the Hondo Boots.. Different strokes for different folks. Cheers .
I've alway baught Durango's and they ahvent failed me yet. I owned a pair for 7 years weating them as mu everyday work boit doing concrete construction. Only reason I ever even got rid of them was the inside were torn to shreds wish i woulda kept them though. Only other time I needed to replace my Durango's was after 6 years and thats because I got trampler by a stallion who destroyed them in the process.
I ordered a pair of “The Doc” from Tecovas and there was a cut in the left boot leather at the stitching. Sent them back and got a new set, there was a cut in the same place. Returned and got a 3rd set and you guessed it, there was a cut in the leather. I have lost faith in the QC at tecovas and I’ve asked for a refund. Customer service is top notch though. Very disappointed, if you own a pair of “the doc” mine have been in bison, check the leather at the stitching of the soul of the boot. You may need to send yours back too.
I read in an article that Hyer Boot Co. is planning a comeback for 2023. I haven’t seen any new samples, so the information is scant. They seem to have a website, but it only has non-boots merchandise at the moment.
Jeremiah didnt you say in the one of the double h boots reviews you did with the made in Mexico model that double h was leaning towards going with Mexico or china made more then the us?
Hey Jeremiah, I found a pair of JB Dillon boots at the thrift store for $100 never heard of them. What are your thoughts? I’m sure you have. I would appreciate an6 advice. They fit real well and we’re in pretty good shape. I just don’t know anything about 5he quality or anyone who knows about the brand. Thanks!
Hi Jeremiah, a bit off topic but do you know anything about the Ariat side pass Western Boot? If they are of decent quality I can't find much information on them , thanx in advance
I was thinking about getting tecovas for my first boot but I’ve heard that they are amazing but I’ve also heard that they are horrible I’m not gonna use them for hard work just casual like going out or walking to school but I’m not sure if I should
Could use some help. I live in the Netherlands and well availability here is a problem. Let alone customs tax if they ship from the USA. Any ideas where I could order boots .. with a size chart ? Having to ship them back and forth would cost a fortune
I love my Black Jack Elephant's. I just can't get into Lucchese boots. Neither the handmade nor their assembly line made lines. IMO, I'd put Rujo over Tecovas after owning both. I really wish these boot companies would make thicker belts. The ones out there just don't hold up at all.
Outside of just buying a beater boot that I don't care what happens to them Tecova's are just awful. Their plastic heal AND toe counter is sinful and once it brakes the boots are toast.
Isn't the eastern diamondback on the endangered list. I know NH fish a game keep their locations off the maps to keep people from going hunting for them

I have Lucchese, Ariat and Tony Lama boots. I like the Lucchese Cliff ostrich boots the best. But just for pure comfort and fit, the Ariat's are pretty hard to beat. When price is considered, they are unbeatable, made in china or not.
Agree, Ariats are actually very comfortable. Even better if you can buy the Ariats made in Mexico, such as the Bench Made Clantons.
Rose Anvil cut a pair of Ariat in half and did a review on his channel. The reason they are so comfortable is that they have a lot of sneaker tech in the heel and sole or the boot. The founders of Ariat helped develop the Reebok Pump.
Somewhat surprise that no one voted for Corral Boots.
Me too with how that went
Lucchesse boots are one of my favorites along with my Anderson Bean ostrich boots (always comfortable, even if I walked all day in them
Check out M. L. Leddy & Sons. Handmade in San Angelo, TX with another store at the Ft. Worth Stockyards. Not cheap, but worth every penny.
Lucchese boots are amazing I'm thinking about getting one how do they fit on you also Jeremiah you should try Thursday Boots they have Cowboy Boots to
I'd watch the Rose Anvil review of the Lucchese. They've been hiding some cost cutting
I’M SO SURPRISED that Ariat boots aren’t even on the list
Apparently they're overrated
I was a Lucchese guy for 25 years, and watched the quality decline. Then I bought my first pair of Chisos, #2’s. I can’t imagine ever wearing any other brand again.
What about Rujos? I hear great things about their boots. Also, made in Leon, Mexico
Chisos baby!!!
R. Watson & Lucchese Boots for me. Tecovas are cool and simple. For seen reason I’m not at all a fan of the Hondo Boots.. Different strokes for different folks. Cheers .
my hondos are some of my most comfortable boots man. love em
Great brands but it's going to take a lot for me to not wear anderson beans
Happy New Year!
Love my Hondo boots!!!
Hondo and tecovas all the way 🎉
I've alway baught Durango's and they ahvent failed me yet.
In your opinion, what is theist budget boot for those of us who want to get a first pair to explore boot wearing without a big investment?
Tecovas and Chisos are great, but Alvies is out of Austin too. Give them a try. Billy F Gibbons approves. 🎸
like to see more progress from Black Jack and Fenoglio.
Happy New Year
I ordered a pair of “The Doc” from Tecovas and there was a cut in the left boot leather at the stitching.
There's a Mexican brand called Cuadra they are my personal favourite.
Jeremiah didnt you say in the one of the double h boots reviews you did with the made in Mexico model that double h was leaning towards going with Mexico or china made more then the us?
Anderson Bean and Rios
Surprised rujo isn’t up here
Great clip mate
Any suggestions for men’s boots with larger shafts for us guys with big legs
Don’t sleep on Fenoglio!
Only pair I got are ariat ground breakers. I want pair of chisos badly 😢
Jeremiah saludos desdecalifornia
I'm surprised Fenoglio didn't score higher
Lol
Most of my family is from Yucatán and there isn’t much exotic animals my guess is either an iguana a peccary or a tapir
Thanks!
Any reviews on J.B. Dillions? There's a boot factory warehouse in my area and thats what they sell.
I have El Dorado and Dan Post. I bought a pair of Tecovas but they didn't fit.
J, will you and your wife do a Womens (real cowgirl) Boot review??? Please!!!!
Hi Jeremiah, a bit off topic but do you know anything about the Ariat side pass Western Boot? If they are of decent quality
I can't find much information on them , thanx in advance
Checkout Rocketbuster Custom Boots or Stallion Boots there all handmade
Have you worn Wesco Morrison? They must be the best looking boots I have seen.
There are a lot of iguanas in Yucatan, maybe that's the plan 🤔
I was thinking about getting tecovas for my first boot but I’ve heard that they are amazing but I’ve also heard that they are horrible I’m not gonna use them for hard work just casual like going out or walking to school but I’m not sure if I should
They’re shit. We bought 4 pair and returned them all. Cody James makes a nice 2-300$ boot
@@878787GH what about them are shit I’ve heard that there amazing but also that there shit
Have you been able to check out JRC and Sons boots? I think they are Cavenders in house brand.
Hondo Boots are the best
Id love to see your opinion on sendra boots
Sendras are the best.
Would love to hear your opinions on moonshine spirit western boots
I shape hats at a bootbarn and get 50% off of them. I still wouldn't buy a pair.
@@cs4235 Got any advice for someone wanting to reshape a hat at home? I just wanna turn the sides up a little bit, right now they're totally flat
Where can I get hondo boots I can’t find them online
Try Carter’s boots online
Could use some help. I live in the Netherlands and well availability here is a problem. Let alone customs tax if they ship from the USA. Any ideas where I could order boots .. with a size chart ? Having to ship them back and forth would cost a fortune
Rios of Mercedes
I love my Black Jack Elephant's. I just can't get into Lucchese boots. Neither the handmade nor their assembly line made lines. IMO, I'd put Rujo over Tecovas after owning both.
I really wish these boot companies would make thicker belts. The ones out there just don't hold up at all.
Anderson Bean
Tecovas over black jack or lucchese 😅
Outside of just buying a beater boot that I don't care what happens to them Tecova's are just awful. Their plastic heal AND toe counter is sinful and once it brakes the boots are toast.
Isn't the eastern diamondback on the endangered list. I know NH fish a game keep their locations off the maps to keep people from going hunting for them
Hondo at the price they are must be good to be number 1. Prolly the cheapest boot on the list by a bit
I can't find Chippewa cowboy boots reviews 😭
Nice
Hyer boots
