Dipper might have shown selfishness more than a lot of characters, but it is always followed by him realizing he is wrong and making up for it. He by far has the most selfless acts of anyone in the show and gives up so much for other people. He should easily be near the top.
I would like to point out that Stan refused to join the circle, even to stop the end of the world, because of his resentment of Ford. Shouldn't that bring him down a few points?
To be fair, I wouldn't like it if I worked for 30 years to get my brother out of the multiverse and I didn't get a thank you. You can argue that Stan picking a fight with Ford when the world was at steak was bad even for Stan but Ford's the one who caused him to act so violently in the first place, if he hadn't mockingly and unnecessarily corrected Stans' grammar the final episode would've been a lot shorter. All because of a petty grudge from 30 years ago no less.

An interesting aside about that love potion: The journal 3 book (the printed one) eventually explains that if the match wasn't meant to be, the potion would eventually wear off and the pair would stop being madly in love. But if the match was true, the effects would still wear off, but the love would still be there because the feelings would be proven real. So, essentially, Mabel made a VERY lucky guess when choosing a match for Robbie.
I call bs on that Story Like they just made that to justify it because if they actually planned it they would have put this in the Episode, but they didn't. In my opinion, Gideon is the worst person in the show in the way that he forces a relationship with Mabel, stalks the citizens of Gravity Falls, summons Bill, pulls many schemes to take ownership of the Mystery Shack, and does many bad things (abusing waddles, taking advantage of the town loving him, and shrinks the twins to threaten Grunkle Stan)

Dipper is not that selfish. First he defeated Gideon, the main antagonist of season 1. He also by far played the biggest role in defeating Bill as he leaded them to victory as he gave up his dreams to be convince Mabel to come with him, he turned Gideon against Bill, and was one of the leaders of the rebellion when they found the mystery shack. Pacifica, Gideon, and Robbie were all good characters by the end, but nowhere near as selfless than Dipper. Also since most of the actions of Robbie and Wendy weren’t condemned due to them being teenagers, Dipper was 12. Also most of Dippers selfish actions didn’t have much negative consequences compared to other characters. Dipper should be placed way higher.

Dipper accepting Ford's apprenticeship is not a selfish act, he's thinking about his dreams and future. That's like saying any kid that wants to go to college is being selfish. If anything, it's Mabel who was the selfish one for not only not supporting Dipper, but accusing him of abandoning her, and then trapping the whole town to make summer last forever, and guilt trip Dipper again into denying the apprenticeship by threathing to kick him out into the apocalypse nad replace him with Dippyfresh.

@@jottys3709 I know, and I agree, as much as I adore this show, it baffles me how Dipper wanting to follow his dreams and having a bit of independency is painted as being something bad and selfish for the writers, while Mabel's horrible actions are either shrugged off or painted as the right thing to do.
I don't disagree with Mabel's ranking, but I don't think the Boss Mabel and Time Traveler's Pig moments you mentioned were really her fault. With the former, she didn't think she could be a better boss for selfish reasons, she genuinely thought that being nicer to people would help get ahead in business. She even released the gremloblin out of selflessness. She considered him an employee who needed breaks. She wanted others to be happier and more satisfied with their time at the Shack, which admittedly, ultimately failed. And yes, in the latter episode there were multiple ways to get Waddles AND not hurt Wendy but Dipper wasn't agreeable to a compromise after he succeeded. He was the reason it had to be either/or because that was the "only way" (nevermind letting Mabel get Waddles first and then getting the thing for Wendy). Even the thing in Fight Fighters came from wanting Stan to not be afraid, although that was gone about the complete wrong way. Again, I do agree that both twins are rather selfish, as they are children and they don't have a great perspective of how their choices affect others, and that she's more selfish than Dipper, but I feel like the Sock Opera incident is more applicable than these. Like half of the examples used weren't selfish, they just had bad outcomes.
Honestly I don't see your point with the Time Travel one since knowing Mabel she could have somehow convinced Pacifica to give her Waddles by showing how messy pigs can be while Dipper had achieved something he had only dreamed of

I think Stan and Ford's parents should be on here. Their dad's selfishness in wanting the money Ford could have brought in made him disown Stan and made Stan want money more than anything. And their mom didn't do anything to stop Stan being kicked out. I think they could have ranked just above the Northwests because their dad did get Stan boxing lessons to make him tough and was actually impressed by Ford, and their mom showed concern for Stan's future.

She is a parasite who forces dipper to sacrifice the good things in his life and almost never gives back nor apologizes when it matters. It’s perfectly culminated with Dippy Fresh, it truly shows how she doesn’t actually care about dipper but rather she cares that she has someone who will be a yes-man as well as a floor mat for her.

I slightly disagree with this. I feel like Dipper should be ranked higher than Ford. Dipper sacrificed everything for Mable. He sacrificed his chances of dating Wendy, his apprenticeship with Ford, His job with Wendy, his perfect picture day, and more! And when Dipper almost dies due to Bill controlling his body, Dipper’s the one who apologizes! And what did Mable do for Dipper? Nothing! Sure she has some redeeming moments but they're only when she gets what she wants or very late in the show. I'm pretty sure Dipper also saved Mable’s Life from Gideon! Some do say Mable had some redemption in the books but still! These books take place later in the show! This is the main reason Mable is one of my least favorite characters. If anything Dipper should be ranked higher than Pacifica at least! “But Dipper barely has any character development!” You may say. Well, that's because he doesn't need any! Anything time he did something wrong (which rarely happened) He always apologized and didn't keep grudges like Ford and Stan! Dipper did everything in his power to help others around him! And Mable did donate blood and help many people in the unicorn episode. But she was only doing it to prove others wrong and have self-value. She barely cared about the people she helped. She was only doing it for self-image. The only times Mable did good things, it was for attention, self-image, and sometimes manipulation. There are many times when she guilt-trips Dipper into getting him to do what she wants because she knows he's empathetic. She knows he’ll do anything for her and she uses it with pride. Dipper needs the biggest thank you for putting up with Mable’s crap.
About Waddles. I'm not sure if you can count this episode giving that is was a made up story from Stan And also I say he wasn't selfish, giving that Waddles wanted to use his newly found genius to improve the world

The only things I disagree with is the placement of dipper and the northwest’s (excluding Pacifica) dipper should have been above Stan and the north west’s should have been more selfish with bill cypher
They are better off doing selfless to selfish for the loud house characters it would incredibly easy to do since most plot points revolve around selfishness
How come being manipulated by another character automatically counts as selfish? I don't see how Soos being belittled by Giffany or Blendin being tricked by Bill register as selfish; it would be one thing if the manipulation depended on exploiting someone's selfish motivations but neither of those examples really qualify for that.
Stan I'm guessing he's going to be near the middle... since he did many crimes against humanity but he did save all of humanity at the end of gravity falls with his plan..... I'm just guessing though.

The only thing I disagree with is how Dipper ranked so low, he would probably fit better around where Robbie is, either above or bellow him. He sacrificed a LOT For Mabel in the show, that it should make up for a lot more of his selfish actions. Mabel definitely fits where she is if not deserves to be just a little lower, not Bill Cypher level, but still pretty damn terrible. Unlike Dipper she didn’t do anything to make up for her selfish actions or even apologize once. You literally cannot find a single time in the show where she even says the word “Sorry” to him for all that she has done.

Dipper is not that selfish.
First he defeated Gideon, the main antagonist of season 1. He also by far played the biggest role in defeating Bill as he leaded them to victory as he gave up his dreams to be convince Mabel to come with him, he turned Gideon against Bill, and was one of the leaders of the rebellion when they found the mystery shack. Pacifica, Gideon, and Robbie were all good characters by the end, but nowhere near as selfless than Dipper. Also since most of the actions of Robbie and Wendy weren’t condemned due to them being teenagers, Dipper was 12. Also most of Dippers selfish actions didn’t have much negative consequences compared to other characters. Dipper should be placed way higher.

Dipper accepting Ford's apprenticeship is not a selfish act, he's thinking about his dreams and future. That's like saying any kid that wants to go to college is being selfish. If anything, it's Mabel who was the selfish one for not only not supporting Dipper, but accusing him of abandoning her, and then trapping the whole town to make summer last forever, and guilt trip Dipper again into denying the apprenticeship by threathing to kick him out into the apocalypse nad replace him with Dippyfresh.

I don't disagree with Mabel's ranking, but I don't think the Boss Mabel and Time Traveler's Pig moments you mentioned were really her fault. With the former, she didn't think she could be a better boss for selfish reasons, she genuinely thought that being nicer to people would help get ahead in business. She even released the gremloblin out of selflessness. She considered him an employee who needed breaks. She wanted others to be happier and more satisfied with their time at the Shack, which admittedly, ultimately failed. And yes, in the latter episode there were multiple ways to get Waddles AND not hurt Wendy but Dipper wasn't agreeable to a compromise after he succeeded. He was the reason it had to be either/or because that was the "only way" (nevermind letting Mabel get Waddles first and then getting the thing for Wendy). Even the thing in Fight Fighters came from wanting Stan to not be afraid, although that was gone about the complete wrong way. Again, I do agree that both twins are rather selfish, as they are children and they don't have a great perspective of how their choices affect others, and that she's more selfish than Dipper, but I feel like the Sock Opera incident is more applicable than these. Like half of the examples used weren't selfish, they just had bad outcomes.

I think Stan and Ford's parents should be on here. Their dad's selfishness in wanting the money Ford could have brought in made him disown Stan and made Stan want money more than anything. And their mom didn't do anything to stop Stan being kicked out. I think they could have ranked just above the Northwests because their dad did get Stan boxing lessons to make him tough and was actually impressed by Ford, and their mom showed concern for Stan's future.

I slightly disagree with this. I feel like Dipper should be ranked higher than Ford. Dipper sacrificed everything for Mable. He sacrificed his chances of dating Wendy, his apprenticeship with Ford, His job with Wendy, his perfect picture day, and more! And when Dipper almost dies due to Bill controlling his body, Dipper’s the one who apologizes! And what did Mable do for Dipper? Nothing! Sure she has some redeeming moments but they're only when she gets what she wants or very late in the show. I'm pretty sure Dipper also saved Mable’s Life from Gideon! Some do say Mable had some redemption in the books but still! These books take place later in the show! This is the main reason Mable is one of my least favorite characters. If anything Dipper should be ranked higher than Pacifica at least! “But Dipper barely has any character development!” You may say. Well, that's because he doesn't need any! Anything time he did something wrong (which rarely happened) He always apologized and didn't keep grudges like Ford and Stan! Dipper did everything in his power to help others around him! And Mable did donate blood and help many people in the unicorn episode. But she was only doing it to prove others wrong and have self-value. She barely cared about the people she helped. She was only doing it for self-image. The only times Mable did good things, it was for attention, self-image, and sometimes manipulation. There are many times when she guilt-trips Dipper into getting him to do what she wants because she knows he's empathetic. She knows he’ll do anything for her and she uses it with pride. Dipper needs the biggest thank you for putting up with Mable’s crap.

The only thing I disagree with is how Dipper ranked so low, he would probably fit better around where Robbie is, either above or bellow him. He sacrificed a LOT For Mabel in the show, that it should make up for a lot more of his selfish actions. Mabel definitely fits where she is if not deserves to be just a little lower, not Bill Cypher level, but still pretty damn terrible. Unlike Dipper she didn’t do anything to make up for her selfish actions or even apologize once. You literally cannot find a single time in the show where she even says the word “Sorry” to him for all that she has done.
