    Really wish they would make the X2 in just the black and white Jim wore… looked so slick

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace  10 месяцев назад +2

      They could not confirm nor deny if this was going to be the only color for the TX3, so there's still hope. I agree, that was a very nice looking shoe that Jim wore

    Can’t wait to get a pair of the torrent 4

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace  10 месяцев назад +1

      Agreed! I'm glad it is differentiating itself from the Zinal even more. Looks like it's going to be a great update

  • @ericperramond3463
    @ericperramond3463 10 месяцев назад +1

    Out of these... the Torrent 4 has me intrigued and excited given that price point, and I like the look of them over the other two. That X3 price is bonkers but if it's not over, say, 10 ozs or so, I'd give it a try-on. Thanks, Brett!

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah that Torrent 4 is going to be in the running for budget trail shoe of the year for sure!

    Excited to try the TX3, especially with the PEBAX midsole - I love the X2 but extra bounce and improved upper seem like a solid win! Thanks for the info 🙏

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace  10 месяцев назад

      I agree, one of the main gripes I had with the TX2 was that it felt like it was missing a bit of magical bounce. This update should definitely fix that!

    Do you know what the heel and toe stack height will be on the Speedgoat 6? I read somewhere that it's changing from 33/29 to 40/35, meaning a higher drop and a lot more stack height? Hoping that information was incorrect

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace  7 месяцев назад +1

      I didn't get exact stack height numbers, but holding it at TRE, it appeared very similar to the SG5. I don't think they would have been able to add that much stack either and also have the shoe still lose .6oz in weight. I would bet on that stack height information being incorrect

    • @makb5354
      @makb5354 5 месяцев назад

      @@ConversationalPace He is correct, the info at various places lists those numbers and Hoka did not mention any specs at running event but their website does list increase in heel drop to 5mm so obviously stack height is changed. Also, that thick curved heel tip got smaller in 6 and looking side by side at 5 and 6, the 6 eyelets start higher up, are farther apart which makes using less fabric on each side and that is probably how some of that weight was dropped. The Roadtrailrun website has a side by side picture that makes easier to see the more pronounced changes. Anyway, I am also curious about the specs that @davidanderson6222 mentioned.

    Super curious to hear how the Tecton X 3 compares to the Agravic Speed Ultra.

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace  10 месяцев назад +4

      Will definitely be pinning them against each other. Probably with the Ultrafly as well

      I’d throw north face summit pro in that as well

      100% I've also run in the Saucony Endorphin Edge, which I'd slot into that carbon trail shoe category as well

    rrreally looking forward to the new goat and the tecton 4!

  • @matthewmyers7826

    That built in gaiter really makes it a pretty specialized shoe, which is an interesting choice. Looks like a really well designed shoe, though I'm not paying that!

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace  10 месяцев назад

      Yeah I'm super curious how that feels in situations where you don't necessarily need it. It was a very thin and stretchy material, so I'm hopeful. It's definitely a hyper premium product now with those materials and that price point. I think the Speedgoat 6 is going to be the way to go for most people.

  • @adramalech707
    @adramalech707 10 месяцев назад

    I am curious if the Tecton X3 is more "blow up friendly". The stiffness of the plates makes power hiking and walking or slower paces feel sometimes less appealing than just using a normal speedgoat.
    The two things I disliked on speedgoat 5, the Doritos shaped toe box making pinkie toe wear occur and the midsole foam durability going out 300-350 miles in to it. i loved the 4s and got 450-500 miles in them only replacing them because the upper blew out.

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace  10 месяцев назад +1

      The foam of the TX3 is so bouncy (and this might be a case by case basis), that I would have a hard time running slower in it. It was the case with the Ultrafly I was wearing at States in 2022. When my legs exploded at the river, I actually struggled a lot with the ultrafly because it was bouncing me all over the trail when I wanted something that was more deadening. I also have a hunch SG6 durability won't improve over the 5. Upper fit likely will though. The foam is just as soft as the 5

    I was freaked by the TX3 price, but do you think this could be useable for multiple seasons? Does peba have a long life? It also resembles winter running shoes closely

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace  10 месяцев назад

      Technically Peba isn't very durable because how it feels right out of the box will change after about 100 miles. but because there is so much of it, it settles into this sort of half-broken down state really nicely and then you can get quite a few more miles out of it. I'll find out for sure though when we get our hands on some review units this summer 👍

    Disappointed that they are making the Torrent the "entry" trail shoe. The line started as a racing shoe. Now it's been nerfed to oblivion.

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace  5 месяцев назад

      Yeah It hit a fork in the road and took the more traveled path🤣 I also would have loved to see it go more in the direction of lower profile racer. I guess some would say that's what the current Zinal is for, but I'd love just a little firmer foam underfoot than what the Zinal offers

    Any weight for the X3?

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace  10 месяцев назад

      No official weight was given to me or listed on their specs sheet yet. I'm not the greatest human scale, but their sample size felt in that 9-10oz range

    The x 3 looks amazing just by the looks I’m sold but the price not so much. So many shoes to be excited about but so little money to wok with lol.

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace  10 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah I love how much all these companies are innovating and pushing boundaries, but damn, it's hard on the pocketbook to try them all. I'm about to have to do a full on SWAT analysis for every new shoe purchase to make sure my dollars are going to the perfect shoe 🤣

  • @cb4atl
    @cb4atl 10 месяцев назад

    Idk...I still feel like between these, the Speedland is the best deal considering that 275 gets you an interchangeable carbon plate and lasts 2-3x as long as the others. Biggest issue on those is the weight and the rubber, but that gets solved with the SL: SVT that's coming out in Spring '24.

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace  10 месяцев назад +1

      well 275 gets you the shoe but it doesn't get you the plate. That's a 35 dollar add on, but you're correct, it'll last beyond multiple pairs of shoes. You're right though, from a durability standpoint, the Speedland will likely last longer than the TX3 if the outsole rubber stays in tact. I'll try my best to do a longer than 100mi review for the TX3 when this one comes out!

  • @kgenest100
    @kgenest100 10 месяцев назад +1

    They should have kept the Tecton X2 and named their new super shoe something else that does not replace the Tecton X2. Not everyone will want to spend $275…

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace  10 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah that thought crossed my mind as well. I really thought the TX3 was going to be more like a Mach x trail, but instead they went more the Rocket X 2 trail route. I'd also love to see an in-between model that filled the price gap between Speedgoat and TX3

  • @tro9490
    @tro9490 10 месяцев назад

    The X3 looks awesome but will be coming in $300+CDN. With my X2 breaking down internally after a couple hundred KMs, it will be hard for me to trust that won’t happen again. Also a Fall release really makes this the 2025 X3, that’s disappointing.

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace  10 месяцев назад

      Yeah it's pricey for sure and agreed, we'll have to take it through the ringer to determine what durability is going to be like. August 2024 is when this shoe is supposed to release

  • @thepatternforms859
    @thepatternforms859 10 месяцев назад +1

    I run with ankle brace and that built in ankle collar is garbage and will prevent ankle brace use… the brace is wide and this collar will not stretch over it

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace  10 месяцев назад

      That thought crossed my mind as well, this would be a tough shoe to wear with an ankle brace. God forbid someone takes a pair of scissors to a $275 shoe to cut the gaiter off. I'm sure someone will do it and report back 😅

    what I see is that Hoka speedgoat 6 = tecton x 2

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace  8 месяцев назад

      I hope that Hoka just continues to make the Tecton X 2 along the X3 and SG6 because they are all very different feeling shoes at this point. The SG6 is going to be softer and more flexible than the Tecton X 2
