Great show. Remember Steve Allen wrote many songs too. Great all around entertainer. RIP Steve and Jayne.
This is a great show Steve!
Steve Allen was an amazing talent.
and a great man...
How lucky for Bill Maher to have such a rich memory from that golden age.
Great show love Anthony Newley "Remember Me" and music of Burt Bacharach always sublime, never see the likes of these greats again...
This show should be required viewing for every potential songwriter in the world.
Beautiful. Unrehearsed. Memorable. Meaningful.
Rhythm section really cooked on the vibe thing. Loved it
Any Day Now…..amazing song!
Steve Allen is incredibly talented and is extremely clever in humor.
So many highlights but seeing Burt Bacharach and Tony Newley together performing 'Make It Easy On Yourself' and 'A House Is Not A Home' was really something very special.
Carole wrote many great lyrics. But with Burt they together wrote some great songs, and yes you can call them evergreens too!
Legendary, genius-level talent here!
Very grateful to you for orchestrating this rare, superb broadcast for us to recall such fond memories ... thank you very much indeed.
Momentos Mágicos!!!! Thank you
featuring the great Plas Johnson on tenor solos.
These videos are amazing. I had no idea this show existed!
It shows how complex the melody of Burt `s Music is!
Bill Maher in 1983...wow
I saw STEVE ALLEN at the MAYPORT JAZZ FESTIVAL IN JACKSONVILLE FLORIDA , MANY YEARS AGO ,
DIZZIE GILLESPIE , AND HIS FUGEL HORN PERFORMED
FANTASTIC ♥ 🎶
Steve can’t help but to be funny!
👍🙂‼️Sweeeeeeet!
Wow, Steve with the mallats! Pretty impressive.
Is there ANYONE left who can Spel ?
@@daplace902 Unfortunately, RUclips has annoying auto-correct. I can spell. Actually, Trumpers like you seem to lack education. The flat Earthers, Trump lovers who lack the most basic understanding of anything etc. Look in the mirror buddy.
Fantastic show!!! Wow!!!
Oh, my goodness, look at how young Bill was before he was Politically Incorrect and did Real Time!
I don't think we'll ever see this type of entertainment ever again.
So true, Steve Allen was unique in the chat show genre such a talented musician, composer all combined with highly a humorous personality that made for superb entertainment, drawing the best show biz stars to join him in evenings of pure delight.
Sounds like a npr broadcast when Burt and Carol talk!
The say is nothing short of awesome
Ke saxo est superbe
Oh yeah check Jackson recorded any day now love that song
Indeed ... Chuck Jackson's brilliant, sublime rendition of 'Any Day Now' was an enormous hit upon it's release in 1959.
Anthony Newley was a mega talent and truly a self made man. However, he also contained great sound judgement when he did not include that turkey in the Chaplin musical. Far from “remember me” it’s definitely best forgotten.
Nice to see burt, carol and tony ex husband of joan collins ive never heard of steve allen but he,s tallented
Kudos to the show for not mic'ing the Vibes instrument properly so no one could hear it.
Wow so there was a time when Bill Maher wasn't totally obnoxious ...nice...
And there wa a time when Jerry Springer hosted a real, legitimate talk show.
The vocal mic mix wasn't too good but still a fascinating and wonderful slice of popular music history.
The singing is beyond bad for this level of professional entertainment. Hard to believe the amazing hits they wrote.
I could not believe Burt’s singing the first time I bought a record of his. But he get through it I don’t know how! His compositions are beyond amazing, those 10 or so hits he wrote are absolutely as a body of compositions the best USA has to offer. Best composer.
Real music, not cheap gratuitous phrasing of today's artist that only entertain with shocking substance.
Carole n a pas beaucoup de voix she HSN t got much of a voice
