Borthwick dealt with the red card questions very professionally - as did young Farrell. English media trying to push it - as you would expect - but the professionals on the stage were having none of it - not getting drawn into the issue in the way the media wanted. Probably worth pointing out that Ireland were starting to hit their straps, England conceded 10 penalties in the first half (pressure = indiscipline) and the Irish scored their first try with Steward still on the field!
Those reporters have their reports written already and just want the coaches/players to say something that supports their angle! Most sports professionals know this and refuse to get drawn into it!
As an Irish supporter it was sickening to see that red card. I do believe England had a great chance to win that test and if they cut down on the penalty count it would have certainly being closer. Ireland have been fantastic and should have had 5 bonus point wins but the gap isn't as wide as some believe. Bring on the World Cup and then we can see where we are as a team. Well done ro Steve and Owen.
The red decision was nonsense and we know it. They gave us a good game and they're an improving prospect and will be very different by the time the WC comes.
Good man for your honesty, they are ruining the game, England were always going to crack after that ridiculous decision, Ireland deserve the grand slam and it's not their fault so congratulations
@@kippsguitar6539 man we would have beaten a 15 man England by more. Forget it we're way better than England at the moment. Look at our hooker for gods sake 🤣
The guy wanted them to say the red card was wrong, he worded the same question so many different ways and they cant say that, looking on we all seen the red card was red, unlucky but red. BUTTTT i think they did great and that should be the foucs, basically most teams would have known the game was over after the red but they really went for it, and were really trying to play. Like they said when they went down again, the space just popped up for Ireland. All England needed to do really was try and drag the fouling back a bit, they seemed to be okay to dance along the edge to try wind the Irish up and that can work but once youre a man down it can spiral out of control.
The card, harsh yes, but there is a process, it was not just the refs decision on a split second, but the ref, TMO and the rest went through a whole bunch of things and the decision was red! Ireland played like the #1 in the world throughout the tournament, good to have France and England at opposite ends but the injuries during the Scotland game showed their resilience, props hooking, #7 throwing into the lineout.
That red card was a joke and a disgrace. If a collision like that is a red card then let’s pack up and go home and watch a contactless sport like football. There was no intent on Stewards part. The knock on meant it was Englands ball and had Steward gone into that tackle as he could have done he would have hit a defenceless Keenan far harder. Next time a back chips a ball ahead and runs into a player I expect to see another red. Ruined what could have been a great game and all the ‘it wouldn’t have changed the outcome’ excuses are laughable.
@@colmokelly9995 I wouldn't underestimate England turning it around. Look how much better they were in just 6 days and they have an easier side of the WC draw.
Steve and Owen were trying to dodge the question about the red card like bullets and at the same time not under play the situation or throw Freddie under.rhe bus
Blame the top of the game - the coach was limited and thrown into coaching a team that had another coach axed without a real plan - this is what we got. But today is about Ireland winning a grand slam and we were immense compared to the very low bar last week, but we are many miles off the pace
Forwards fronted up this week. But England lack cutting edge. Their back moves are too pedestrian. Not enough blistering pace, speed of passing or precision.
The red was a red! Sick of hearing whether a red card should decide an important game! The importance of a game is not what should decide a decision. Otherwise any final or outcome dependant game could a potential bloodbath.
Steve borthwick is a man of humility and a genuine guy I hope he does well with England he deserves it from an Irish fan
These guys were very magnanimous in defeat I have to say. They even stayed on the pitch and applauded Ireland for the cup ceremony.
The card decision checked all the boxes the ref went through them. Probably a bit harsh but it was the Refs decision. Cmon ireland 🇮🇪
delighted to have ye here in Ireland..ye done yer country proud..Good luck Owen to you and your team .going forward..love .Co Kerry..🙏🦶🙏🙏

Happy to see Owen Farrell back in he's 10 position and captain of the team😊

It was red but it was unfortunate.
He'll learn from it.
Why the hell was he jumping up into a tackle? 🙄

graceful interview
They would have bet a lot of teams with 14 men today they are a very good team. I like the manager doe
If a player can be red-carded for trying to avoid contact with an opponent, the game of rugby is in serious trouble.
England will come back stronger and will be no pushover in the world cup gracious in defeat fair play

Totally agree! Destruction of a fabulous sporting event.
England showed up, Ireland didn't in some areas.
Both them and Australia will be dark horses for the RWC.
I agree with you on Australia...ticking along nicely, under the radar. Similar to South Africa last WC

Great result, but the World Cup,Ireland to win it not a hope
Sick of Borthwick already, never answered a single question. He has a script in his mind that he just keeps coming back to.

Huh? Give the man a chance for gods sake.
Irish supporter - not a red card - England could have pushed Ireland all the way without that red card
Forwards fronted up this week. But England lack cutting edge. Their back moves are too pedestrian. Not enough blistering pace, speed of passing or precision.
Come on they were down to 13
So, England are not that good, went to Dublin, put Ireland under pressure and played the 2nd half with 14 men. What does that say for Ireland?

Imagine if this was the South African coach and captain after that nonsensical decision! The game has become a joke
borthwick is weird
Look, the English never learn,
A the English never learn🙄🙄🙄
Irish fan here a bit of a low comment England played well and put up a great fight well done to both teams
Stupiid salt of the earth 😀
Wow some comment Kenny probably deleted his account 23 times. You make us look bad. GG England
