You know, when people say they're here because of a show or movie, it means they liked the song and took the time to look it up. So it's ridiculous when people make those 'anti-here from tv show/movie' comments as if people discovering music from a show or movie is bad. All bands/musicians and their songs are discovered somewhere before you ever knew about them, whether it be a show, a movie, on the radio, through word of mouth, etc. You should be glad they're being discovered as you once did. People look incredibly stupid when they say things like "Who's here because of their taste in music instead of a show?" Humans just don't use their brains half the time.
YES THANK U👏🏽 I found a bunch of new bands and singers who now belong to my faves from watching Gossip Girl. They simply used amazing Indie Music as their soundtrack and I'm so happy about what I've discovered thanks to them.
This. I listened to this album religiously when it first came out for quite some time. I basically forgot about it. Ten years later, here I am watching Gossip Girl with my wife and this song comes on and brought back so much nostalgia. Thanks to Gossip Girl I re-discovered this song and like it even more now.
Sweetie Oh, edgy. Honestly you were making such a thoughtful comment and then ruined it with your last sentence. Also, use your brain yourself. Yes, it doesn't matter how people found music but it's annoying to read same comments over and over again. Like they don't ever read previous comments, like a bunch of kids who want attention at any cost lol. It's somewhat ridiculous, honestly, especially when they start to quote or discuss show HERE and not on some forum. I guess both these "camps" are ridiculous to be honest
This song takes me to places in my mind that I didn't realise where still there. Its fantasy, adventure, beauty. All the things I've lost over the years. Thank you M83 for reminding me that the world wasn't always terrible.
This song is so special for me. I'm sure that when i'm older, i'll listen to it and remember those youthful and joyful days when i first heard it. Even now, it makes me feel nostalgic, and i can't explain why. Pure perfection. :)
One of the best things about Gossip Girl was that their soundtrack was amazing and they really helps a lot of low profile musicians get a bigger audience. This is one my favorite songs ever featured on the show and years after the series ended I still love M83.
@@twod0ves M83 were quite low profile in 2009 when this song was featured in Gossip Girl, it wasn't until Midnight City in 2011 when they completely took off.
Yo, people don't understand m83 is like an overall soundtrack to life sitting on an edge of a cliff, looking at the rest of the town beneath you. Never had a bad experience with this group.
Back in 2015, I somehow was fortunate enough to stumble on M83. Literally, by pure coincidence. After I heard one song, I was hooked. I listened to every album made, devoured each song and found that I fell in love with every single piece they had created. I know it doesn't seem long, but looking back, I can't help but feel like I was so incredibly youthful and innocent and since those four years, I've changed dramatically --I don't think the same way, I don't see the world the way I used to; I'm older, I'm well-seasoned now, I'm in a different place. I guess, in short, at the time, I never thought I would get old, that I would have the privilege of basking in my youth. Ha, time proved me wrong. Totally. I'm coming back to their music now, after all this time, and I'm able to fall in love with them again, but in an entirely different way. M83 is so damn underrated --they always have been. Still, what a gem I've found. Thank you, M83, for making me feel young, no matter how many days pass.
This song makes me want to look up into the sky once the moon is pale white, and I'll see all the stars wandering about like souls. This is a very beautiful song and deserves to be recognized by many more.
When I was 15(gosh I feel old)I would escape to another world with this song. I would get home from school and when the sun would be setting, I would lay down on my bed, eyes shut while this song played and I would envision myself at the beach. A sort of calmness overcame me and until this day (I’m 24 now, time goes so fast!) whenever I need that sort of calmness to wash over me, or even when I go to sleep, I put this song and it still comforts me. I bet we all have a story behind this song.
This song was awesome when you first heard it in your late 20s and it takes on a new meaning when you’re now 43 and you lost your mother a few months ago. One thing it never ceased doing, however, was making me cry.
I've hearing this since I was 17 with no sense. Now I listen to this and every sound makes me think of him and makes this even more special. Now everything have sense. I'm in love.
I found this album as a teenager, I would fall asleep every night listening to this song. Imagining what it would be like to lose yourself in someone. As I got older I became more jaded and this song faded into the background, and my dreams of love started to fade as all I found was heartache. In February I was in a motorcycle crash and almost died. I was so scared and all I wanted to do is call my mom and tell her I was sorry and I loved her as I laid bleeding in a ditch. I fought so hard to stay positive, make jokes and stay strong, but it all feels so fruitless. Nothing is better, and I can walk a little now but any dream I had is gone. But I lay in bed, and listen to this song as I imagine would it would be like to not be alone through all of this. Even though it all feels so pointless, seeing my family that night, it broke my heart. They thought I was dead. I may not ever see my dreams come true. I might not ever find that beautiful woman of my dreams and have kids, but I can help my nieces and nephews accomplish their dreams. I can watch them grow into fine young people. I may go to bed alone every night, but this song reminds me, if I were to go forever, I'd break more than my own heart.
I look into your eyes Diving into the ocean I look into your eyes Falling Like a wall of stars We are ripe to fall I look into your eyes Diving into the ocean I look into your eyes Falling Like a wall of stars We are ripe to fall And if you are a ghost I'll call your name again And if you are a ghost I'll call your name... You, always
I listened to this song after a christian retreat. During the event, people were cryjng, reaching out to god. This open gesture of emotion always scared me. But at this event, i let go and cried. My friend asked me what was wrong and i couldnt say. I remember her saying "is it all just too much?" And i just nodded. The truth was i was having a hard time dealing with a recent family tragedy. My grandpa killed my grandma and then he killed himself. Love you emma. Love you bia. Sleep well angels...
Funny I had this album somewhere in my computer for at least 10 years, but I only listened (obsessively) to You, appearing, another heartbreakingly gorgeous M83 song. And yes, I only discovered this 2 days ago because of Gossip Girl and I've had it on repeat for the last 5 hours.
I look into your eyes Diving into the ocean I look into your eyes Falling Like a wall of stars We are ripe to fall And if you are a ghost I'll call your name again And if you are a ghost I'll call your name... You, always.
Coming back here trying to remember the good times of Haylijah. Rip Hayley Marshall and Elijah Mikaelson, I hope you found peace to have that final dance.
Hayley: If I die and someone throw a party, I will be sooo pissed.. Ellijah: You almost did...in a thousand years, I can't recall a time I felt so...frightened.. Hayley: Elijah...(runs to kiss him)
I've loved this song for so long since discovering it on YT, then heard it in The Originals and my heart melted. God, I love Hayley and Elijah together..they broke my mf heart.

We played this song at my little brother's funeral (he died of cancer at 24). M83 was his favorite band. I miss him so much.
Hope he found peace!

This, and My Tears Are Becoming a Sea are M83's most underrated songs.
+TheIzaiah surprisingly most of M83 is underrated, but hey it makes me like them even more.
Another Wave From You is also underrated
they are both the most beautiful and the saddest

It will.

And? Did you listen to it, now 3 years later?
exactly. At nearly 40 in 14 days, i will never stop being who i was and was listening to at 20 or 30
Sorry for your loss. Your brother must be very special because he liked this band's special music. ❤
