    I just bought a Velotric Discovery 1 Plus. There are some things potential buyer should be aware of. )1 The adds say there is a 14 day free trail, Good luck with that, when you look closer there is a stipulation that if your odometer read over 10 miles of use you are ineligible to return the bike. Also there is a $200. restocking fee and you must repackage the bike and pay for return shipping. 2) The advertised mileage is 50 with throttle and 64 with assist. These figures are for the lowest assist level , if you use level 5 assist you will get about 25 miles not 50. 3) The first ride I had a fully charged battery, after 22 miles the battery showed 3 bars left out of 5. The next day I left with 3 bars and after approx. 3 miles the battery showed 0 bar, the display sent me out on a ride with me thinking I had plenty of battery when it was really empty.
    By taking a short ride my first day I was ineligible to return this bike.
    Buyer Beware.

    Although I own 3 e-bikes already, I just pre-ordered the Discover 2 with a mirror (seems their mirror has a coating like car mirrors), in the Cherry Crimson.
    I like to pedal. My Como has no throttle and is a mid-motor belt driver auto shifting e-bike that I have to pedal and of the 3 bike I own I enjoy it the most because of the TORQUE sensor.
    I also own a 2024 Wired Freedom and a Wallke H6 MAX with the dual battery setup, both has cadence sensors. The last two are “Ok” but easily prefer the torque sensor to the cadence sensor.
    I pleasant surprise was the MIK compatiable rear rack which my Como also has (added the adaptor to my Freedom) for a one trunk bag with all my goodies, not just choose the bike. That quick snap on is great.
    I'm 70 and although the Freedom and H6 MAX both can take me to over 33 mph, at the end of a ride I feel better when I've ridden the Como.
    Yes, the Como is expensive compared to all of these other bikes, but still my favorite.
    We each have difference preferences, thus we probably prefer different bikes.
    Ride Safe.
    Yes, Micah, I used your code.

    Thank-you for this review... this looks to be a well-thought out and produced ebike. It looks like your attachment point for towing was so high on the bicycle that it was lifting the front wheel off the ground... having it at axle level (or lower) would allow you to to spend less of your energy "controlling" the added instability and more on the actual tow.

  • @XLessThanZ
    @XLessThanZ 6 месяцев назад +1

    I wondered if you could do hillclimb testing on all the bikes you review. That's an easier test for me to relate to since I know how my ebike climbs hills. Thanks for the great videos.

    I wish the dumb EU would allow these bicycles more people would immediately switch to these e-bikes especially for that price! Our market is „governed“ so that less expensive models do not penetrate the market and the old biking industry is „saved“ from new technology so dumb
    In Europe we HAVE to pedal in order to get assist until 25km/h 15mp/h and maximum power is measly 250W
    Even scooters are allowed to just zip with assisting thats exactly why everybody loves them and then they regulated it again

      You are the problem.
      Guess what if you fallow the "law" it becomes real.
      If you don't it goes away.
      Want an example!
      In Italy the tried to introduce tax on the first home.
      Some people paid most didn't it went away.

    • @Asfanboy1

      I'm running a 2kw motor and riding at 70km/h BTW.

    • @nathang4682
      @nathang4682 6 месяцев назад

      I agree that that is dumb to be illegal. 28mph pedal assist is in practice not that much different than a regular bike and is pretty reasonable, you can ride that fast on regular bikes too and it's not like its effortless to get to 28 with pedal assist

    I notice pulling same amount of weight as putting weight on top of wheel, pulling puts more stress or uses more torque to move. Weight on top of rear cargo is based on the roman arch support of being the weight over the wheel. I tested this with 50lbs, pulling for 5 miles, my ebike shuts down after 3 miles on full throttle ( I have to go at medium or slow speeds of covering distance ) to cool off the motor and battery for a few minutes before riding again. On the rear rack Im going for ever.?> But it is the roman arch physics of supporting the weight at a minimum. Well, Im not going to place a truck on my rear rack, lol. But hope this helps for others to avoid the noids of the physics of CARGO.

    awesome new bike! I'm in Canada but I will try to get one soon...how does the find my works with this bike? Something like an airtag built in to the frame? will it need batteries replaced once a year? and it cannot be removed by thieves correct? Also, can the amount of shock absorption can be adjusted on the fork? I may not need as much shock absorbtion while riding around the city. I have an ebike now and I installed an air tag in the fork and it works. Of course thieves are always getting smarter...I would love this bike in crimson red!

    Question, please. - How do you think the Discover 2 would do maintaining speed up hills? My area has a lot inclines at tunnels and bridges. The problem is, the bottoms of these ramps have sharp turns, so I can't really build up much speed on approach. For short distances, could it keep up with traffic at 20 mph? I see cadence sensor bikes doing a pretty good job with it while pedaling. I've not tried torque sensor ebikes before. Just curious how it would handle it, as I hear that torque sensors require more and continued effort from the rider. Thanks for your reviews!

    I have a 48V 1, 000W motor with a controller of 15A rated current and 30A maximum current with a battery of 54V 12.5A
    The motor spins freely without issue but when I sit on it and accelerate to about 15km/Hr the power cuts off, display refreshes (I am clueless if it's the BMS or controller cutting off power and why}
    Pls help.

    • @EbikeSchool
      @EbikeSchool  6 месяцев назад +1

      This is usually the BMS cutting off due to a protection firing, such as low voltage or high current protection. Could indicate a weak battery cell, high resistance connection somewhere, or other issue in the battery.

    Stating that an IPX6 water protection rating is OK to take to a Car Wash is just plain Horrible advice.
    Ingress Protection for water @ a level 6 rating (X6) is OK for 1 Liter @ 15 PSI for 1 minute Max. That's equivalent to Pouring Water from a Bucket, or pressure no greater than Rainfall.
    99% of Car Washes use water pressure Starting @ 900 psi and up to 2000 psi which will certainty defeat any water seal rated to IPX6 meaning you've likely forced water into the Battery or Motor.
    IPX6 is a Rainfall rating. An IPX7 rating would allow the use of Garden Hose pressure (40 - 80 psi) and would Still be defeated w/ a Pressure Washer.
