Are Papua New Guinea People BLACK? (Rare Information)

The black people of Asia, Pacific and Australia. Papuans are a dark skinned people found on the island of New Guinea, the world's second-largest island, with an area of 785,753 km2 (303,381 sq mi), which is located in Melanesia in the south-western Pacific Ocean. They number about 13 million.
When I observe a person from Papua New Guinea, I am struck by their physical resemblance to black Africans. The tightly curled hair, dark skin, and distinctive facial features all contribute to a visual impression of what we commonly associate with 'blackness.'
The origins of Papuans trace back to the first settlement of Australasia by a group known as "Australasians" or "Australo-Papuans" during the Initial Upper Paleolithic period. This group had a shared genetic makeup and culture linked to Ancient East Eurasians and shares ancestry with modern East Asians and other Asia-Pacific populations. Humans reached Sahul (the combined landmass of Australia and New Guinea) between 50,000 and 37,000 years ago. Around 10,000 years ago, rising sea levels separated New Guinea from Australia. Despite this, Aboriginal Australians and Papuans had already diverged genetically about 40,000 years ago. Papuans are more closely related to Melanesians than to Aboriginal Australians.
The ancestors of the Papuan New Guinean peoples scattered into highland and lowland areas, and evidently kept to themselves since then, going by genetic and linguistic evidence. And today, though possessing similar origins, Papuans are genetically highly different from each other, as reflected in their linguistic diversity. With approximately 850 domestic languages, which account for over 10 per cent of the world’s total, Papua New Guinea is the most linguistically diverse country in the world.
If this video is to your liking consider giving it thumbs up by pressing the like button. Thanks.
So how do their genetics look like? An average Papuan has DNA from number one, Ancient East Eurasians who migrated out of Africa around 60,000 to 70,000 years ago and reached the Sahul landmass (which included present-day Australia, New Guinea, and Tasmania) around 50,000 years ago, who are ancestors of South East Asians like Indians, Asia-Pacific groups and even the Andamanese , two ; Denisovans who'd been living in Asia for tens of thousands of years and in fact Papuans carry up to 5 % Denisovan DNA , the most Denisovan DNA of all groups , three, tiny Neanderthal DNA , and four ; an earlier extinct Out of Africa population group resulting in their drift away from other East-Eurasian and of course modern African populations. The fourth component is what makes them look like Africans and not typical Asian. Whereas contemporary Asian populations show signs of only one expansion of modern humans out of Africa, there may have in fact been two successful dispersals out of Africa, and that a “trace” of the earlier of these two expansion events has lingered in the genetics of modern Papuans. Therefore Papuans share for most part same evolutionary history as all other non-Africans, but research shows they may also contain some remnants of a chapter that is also yet to be described. Furthermore people on the island of New Guinea evolved independently from rest of the world for much of the last 50,000 years which further contributed to their distinctive look. As shown by the genetics, Papuans are not even close to modern Africans genetically by a large stretch. It is so shocking to me that white people are genetically closer to Black Africans than Papuans.
Do they claim blackness? The self-identification of Papuans, including whether they consider themselves "black," can be complex.
In interactions with outsiders and within broader geopolitical contexts, Papuans might sometimes be referred to as "black" due to their darker skin. Some will use this term to describe themselves especially in a convenient context. Some will argue they are black in terms of their skin color. Though not African, they are Melanesian. In fact the word Melanesia translates to “dark-skinned islanders.”
These shared struggles and resilience in the face of adversity resonate with the broader narrative of black history.
Some will totally reject the black label and argue that any phenotypical similarity is imaginary. That, Papuans, even if rather dark-skinned, tend not to be as dark as most black African peoples. That based on their observations, Papuans tend to have thinner lips, higher nose bridges, deeper set eyes, eyebrows that are nearer to the eyes, and their hair, even if kinky, has more variation in curliness depending on the person than with black Africans. That, some Papuans have naturally brown or blonde hair.

I'm from PNG and this is what I have to say about my country. Papua New Guineans were directly created by Almighty God and placed on the island country called Papua New Guinea. Our myths and legends don't even tell of migrating from some far far lands to where we are now, but we have myths about an unseen being greater than the universe who had created us and our land and everything that is in it. We are of a thousand tribes,800 plus different languages, but we all untited as one people, from our highlands to our coasts and islands. Definitely rare on the face of planet Earth. Come and witness for yourselves 😊.

I'm from this place. What I find the funniest about this video is the fact that Europeans are more closely related to Africans than we are. How does that calculate into racism? But our traditions are much more like Asians than any other group in my opinion. I think of us as being Southeast Asian. We have all different colors of skin from white to black. We don't see things based on skin color but rather tribal and marriage affiliations. You can be a white European but if you accept our culture and can live as we do we will accept you as one of our own. So everything is cultural to us.😊 Great video!😊

@@malicktjmatiabeyuwi7587 fyi, PNG does have ancestral Polynesian groups that reached our island and settled in the south during a second wave of migration before they ventured out to populate the rest of the pacific. You can tell by our the two distinct language types, the Non-austronesians and the Austronesians. The latter being the Polynesian/Micronesian default which takes its roots from ancient Taiwan. This has been genetically proven.
Austonesians were a sea faring people who brought with them their knowledge of pottery, tattooing, the use of obsidian for tools, tapa cloth and their exceptional sea craft building and navigational skills. All of which are shared traits from places they settled and intergrated into from as far as Madagascar in Africa all the way to the Hawaian islands. Their language is the most obvious shared commonality amongst us all. For example the word for coconut is the same all throughout. We call it "niu" in our motuan dialect as do most decedent's of the Austonesian peoples.
So yes, some of us consider ourselves part Polynesian by ancestry (southern and island regions) but we consider ourselves brown skinned Melanesian due to the majority.

I have always felt slightly uneasy about calling myself "black". Although I am, by skin-tone, the deep connotations with the term "black" makes me feel slightly out of step when aligning myself to the cause. Our issue doesn't lie with the monarchy some 10000km away, our issues lie with the geopolitical hegemony we find ourselves in. I look at Africa and USA and think "God I am lucky I didn't go through what they went through"...or "aren't we lucky we aren't them"...and in that I think I deny that "blackness" that history tries to spread across people of black complexion. There were instance of E1B1A Haplogroup been picked up around central New Britain Island which is a direct link to Africa but this has not been discussed much in scientific papers. And, there are differences between the DNA of the Highlands Papuan populations who arrived some 50K+ya and the coastal Melanesian populations who arrived thousands of years later. There is also the possibility of undocumented movement of people from unknown lands by the Dutch, Spain and Portuguese in the country which is only found in traditional folklore.

As a Papua New Guinean, this is how I would compare the different physical resemblance from the world. I would divide PNG's DNA in 3 parts,
    (1) Papuans share the same DNA as the Polynesians & Asians and are also know as the south Eastern Coastal people (Papuans) . Papuans have black or brown long wavey hair with a light skin color like the Tongans & New Zealanders.
    (2) New Guineans (Highlands & northern coast line) share the same DNA as the southern parts of African & South East Asians. They have brown skin color with black or hazel brown eyes and have soft black curly hair.
    (3) The New Guinea Islanders (North Coast Islanders) share the same DNA as the Indians & Southern East Asians. they are have melo color skin with blond hair and have black, brown or blue eyes.
Sampla PNG stap, please addim if mi wrong lo sampla hap.

Strongly disagree with the assumption that ancestors of people from PNG migrated from Africa some 30000 to 60000 years ago. many tribes of PNG have always inhabited this island. Africa is not the motherland and of all black people, never was and will never be. Many tribes from PNG have always inhabited this land mass. Maybe people from Africa were always there in Africa and we were always here in the beginning. While the diverse race in Asia could be a mixture of homo sapiens and Denisovans species. the dark race in Asia and Pacific including Indigenous Australia and New Zealand did not come from other parts of the world accept from that land making up the diverse human race.

After reading some of the comments, one observation is SERIOUSLY missing: climate and diet affects the human body. Over thousands of years, human migration toparts of the world has an affect, but the same perspective can be said of the African continent! All Africans do NOT look alike. The narrator was comparing dark skin Asians and Pacific Islanders to West Africans ( e.g., body hair), not acknowledging that East Africans and Southern Africans sometimes carry that trait! There wasn't ONE single migration out of Africa, but several (not counting the "recent" historical interactions for the past 5,000 yrs).
Let's not forget the Khoi-San, Twa and Baka peoples who may also have been the migrators.
Perhaps, the following THREE YT videos makes the point of people who are Asian/Pacific and identify themselves as Black. Enjoy. (retired scholar in African and Pacific Island studies)

The Portuguese been in Africa long before going to Indonesia and Papua. If you look African you have to be linked to them. The same crime of taking natural resources from Africa white people do the same to these island people.

Before they were in New Guinea they were in Africa…..the people in Scandinavia also, but obviously intermixing with Neanderthals, albinism and climate affected the Scandinavians’ appearance more than the new Guineans from the original African look.

    • @EyeSeeThruYou

"Albinism" is not the reason Europeans have the skin shades they possess.

    • @EyeSeeThruYou
      @EyeSeeThruYou 3 месяца назад +4

You need to get reading about what albinism actually is, and is not.
Though rare, albanism has been documented in _all_ human populations globally, and is actually a group of heritable conditions.
It is therefore not a descriptor for people in Europe, as you inaccurately implied.
Having an ancestor from Europe is no more a factor to inherent the condition than in any other population.
Children have a chance of being born with albinism if both of their parents have albinism or both of their parents carry the gene for albinism. All humans possess the genes that occasionally become damaged in some way as to result in albanism.
Also, H. Neanderthalensis genes are spread throughout the human population (H. sapiens sapiens).
Science has not determined whether that species experienced the heritable condition of albinism.
Therefore, claiming that species "passed" albinism to a specific segment of the human population is unsupported by science, and therefore, is a _factually inaccurate assertion._

@@EyeSeeThruYou u just write a BOOK …when at no time I SPECIFIED that ONLY AFRICAN THAT VENTURED INTO EUROPE (which is what the first modern humans to step foot into Europe were) dealt with albinism. The colder climates in the northern lands of Eurasia was a blessing to those with extreme cases of it causing for a longer life. Thriving in those conditions propelled those lighter skin humans to evolve into what is seen in Europe today. Stop assuming everyone is on this current modern day view of “race” and getting triggered by slander that isn’t even there.
