- A giraffe from a Perth Zoo is settling into his new home at Monarto Safari Park after a 48-hour journey across the Nullarbor.
Perth Zoo Manager of Zoology John Lemon says it’s all about getting the Giraffe used to going into the “specific crate” they have designed to “keep it comfortable”.
“Apart from stopping for fuel and giving the giraffe his dinner and water, it’s a non-stop journey across,” Mr Lemon told Sky News Australia.
“This is something we’ve been working on for months, so getting a large giraffe - 800 kilos and four metres tall to stand steady in a crate takes a lot of operant conditioning.”
I've never had the experience of being behind a giraffe being transported! What a neat experience! I'm glad it went well. Hopefully that handsome guy can help make some beautiful babies! Every giraffe counts!
It takes a big man to admit he’s wrong but it takes an even bigger man to give a giraffe a haircut.
Imagine seeing a giraffe in the car in drive past, and trying to convince people you weren't drunk
Happens to me all the time 😊
Thank you for helping to save giraffes 🦒 ❤
Away from fires , droughts and floods I hope. Good job
Luckily it wasn’t a repeat from the hangover 3.

Hope there isn’t any road low overheads on this trip 😂

Real news please
This needed to be reported to save the sanity of anyone who saw a giraffe drive past.
Luckily it wasn’t a repeat from the hangover 3.
Why is this not real news? It is much better than murders and other crimes being reported! I would much rather turn on the tele and hear this wonderful story than hear about thugs killing each other.
