    This is a great video and very interesting thank you. The AMS Neve brand these days does really suffer from build and parts quality. All the retailers know that AMS Neve is one of the most commonly returned and repaired brands, simply because the build quality isn't there in their hardware, such as the plastic switches and dials. Although they certainly won't admit it in public because the brand is so strong, even though it's trading off it's long, long gone Rupert Neve association. RND products, other the other hand, are robust and are well built and designed. I still love Neve stuff and just wish AMS Neve would get a bit more realistic in what they're offering and their silly prices and poor components.

    This is so good to see, I am curious as to these legend designers if they ever think of retiring or their passion is what keeps them going

    Great and entertaining interview as always Mitch! Only wish there was more archive material in film and photo showing the neve work floor, Monserrat’s console and other old stuff.

      Tell me about it! The drums on my album were done at AiR on the monserrat and I'm always curious about the great sounding console

    Im always wondering about the class AB thing with the monserrat console. I mean typically class AB is inferior to class A. If you've ever wanted the 1073 sound from a 1081 you know what i mean, less thick and juicy. Shouldn't the monserrat be inferior to say a 8078 thats all class A?

    • @balisaani
      @balisaani Месяц назад +1

      You misunderstood him I think - that's not what he said. I understood that the 1081 is class AB.

      @@balisaani nah bro I've heard it from the guys at AIR studios, my album I'm working on now has drums tracked there, that neve is class A/B, I wanted die when I heard that 😔

      @@mellobotstudio I was being silly, I mean I'm not crazy about the class AB but it didn't actually make me wanna die, only my girlfriend does that. Class A neve is thicker and better

    • @mellobotstudio
      @mellobotstudio Месяц назад

      @@wyrlismike Haha, OK but that's not how it works with a console. If anything is thicker and better, it's the voltage, non-linear artifacts, and how the circuit is being utilized.

    Sylvia massy would teach you guys a thing or two about neve, she knows them inside and out. Cool video!

      She couldn't even record Johnny Cash with an acoustic and vocal
      without making it flat and boring.Luckily Johnny's talent overcame
      Sylvia,Rick,and a jar of pickles.
