Listening to this hurts as it is, but since I'm in the middle of rewatching Kai, it's hurting even more... I've made this same point in several videos already, but I'll say it again: this is the greatest anime I have ever seen. One of the few I've seen that can compete with it is Trinity Blood. Yes, the first season could be hard to watch (especially freaking Meakashi-hen), but even that season ended on an emotional note. Kai just improves upon the first season in every way, although some people seem a little put of by the lack of horror elements. Anyways, hands-down, my favorite anime.

Read the Umineko VN or Manga too. It’s even better. The writer is a genius. He just keeps getting better with every novel. The Umineko anime honestly doesn’t even do 0.0001% justice to the masterpiece that is Umineko.

Whenever I heard this song back when I first watched Higurashi Kai, I was thinking that Rika's suffering would soon end. It just looks so heartwarming with sweet moments like Shion embracing Satoko. I think the Rika/Hanyuu almost kissing looked a bit over the top though. It's so different compared to the first ED of Higurashi (Tell me why or why not) which sounds so terrifying with very creepy visuals (especially the scene where the Onigafuchi swamp is portrayed as bloody).
The first ED does sound kinda creepy but the lyrics (even with all the engrish) paints a truly sad song of guilt, regret and a longing to understand why things went so wrong. Definitely perfect for the first season that was so full of mystery, horror and tragedy.

My favorite part of this ending aside from the beautiful lyrics and song (I love it so much ahh) is definetely the part Shion hugging Satoko. ＳＰＯＩＬＥＲＳ: It's so sweet and almost makes me cry seeing them, how Satoko looks comforted by her, and realizing what Shion could've been like to Satoko if Shion hadn't gotten Hinamizawa Syndrome in the one world, but on the other hand it warms my heart seeing her acting like Satoko's "nee-nee" in all the others. Haha, lots to say about just a few seconds of an ending, but I just really love that one scene ;w;. I also like the part when Rena's hat flies off, it makes me remember what happened in another world too. uwu I just think this ending song is packed with things to make you feel a little sad when you see it, starting with those lyrics to just the animation.

Totally agreed! One other thing that always gets me is Rena and Mion lying on the ground, since I always saw that as a callback to the first story arc's ending. It's been about 10 or so years since I first saw this anime and the endings still give me the chills
i don’t watch anime anymore i kinda grew out of it after sophomore year of high school but holy shit was this anime amazing and this ending just.... it makes me reminisce back to when i was just a high school kid with nothing to worry about,,, now i high key wanna rewatch this to relive those moments
You know which things are the best ones? The ones like this song... It so painfull to listen to it, you can feel every bit of agony, despair and fatigue with every note... But on the other hand its so calm, serene and it feels like some kind of a memory... Im lost for words. Ryukishi 07 is out of this world. Thats it. Higurashi - best story ever. Im halfway through Umineko novel, i expect the same from it.
Spoiler If you think about it, Keichi used to be a monster or at least he had fun making kids think that they were going to die. But when he finally arrives to Hinamizawa, he just becomes the loyal and strong person he is. Even if he went crazy in the first line, is not he´s fault. Rika has said in the series, that the worlds in wich Keichi never arrived where worlds without hope or happines (for her obviously). Maybe Hannyu is a godess but she wasn´t able to reach the kids hearth, but Keichi was able to fight, even without knowing hope he literally fought until death in all the lines. Helping his friends, encouraging them and even receiving fisical punishment from Shion or Rena, he refused to harm them. He is such a good person that Rena and Mion felt in love with him in months. He was probably waiting the oportunity to have a family like them. Even the grandma of Mion says that he is "a fresh air for Hinamizawa". I believe that he isn´t in the ending because we are seeing what he is going to achieve. He is going to save everyone but not alone, but with the power of this family (and even Rena and Mion are looking to the camera lol)

Ikr its weird. Not only is he a part of the main cast, he's the most important piece. His presence is essentially the game changer for the story despite not being the true protagonist. Guess the cute girls sell better. Its all just business.
