I thrift the majority of my high end pieces. Since I am not in a rush to have a particular item, I can take my time and wait for the right pieces to come to market.

I typically don’t thrift but last time I donated I went in and took a look at the blazers. I was looking for a black one to buy and I ended up buying 2 at goodwill, one for $6 and and a navy blue one for half of that because the color tag was half off. Safe to say I saved myself a lot of money and both pieces looked like new.

Smart shoppers can find great pieces at the resale shops that carry higher quality traditional fashion. A dark blazer of quality in wool, linen or cotton can be found for a fraction of the cost. Many items have tags still attached & have never been worn. Yes it takes patients to seek these great finds. I no longer shop retail.
My closet is full of Talbot, Ralph Lauren, Ann Taylor and more. 💖

My shopping strategy depends on my time to money ratio. When I have more time than money, I shop resale and clearance sales. If I have more money than time, I buy what I want in the easiest way possible. It all depends on the circumstances.
I love my jeans and I'm over 60. I was once told by a woman 20 years ago that I was to old to wear them!, I was stunned. Needless to say I ignored her advise 😂😅
69 and jeans still look appropriate...
Now that I’m retired I wear jeans on most days because they’re comfortable. Jeans and comfy tennis shoes are my go to outfits. Thank you for the fashion advice, but most of the suggestions are far overpriced for me.

Yes. I loved the blue blazer but could not afford the $750 price since I am a single retired teacher on a tight budget.

I would like to see a video showing age appropriate ideas on how to stay feminine over 50 in the way we look, dress and act. I’ve noticed a lot of couples tend to start looking alike (and not in a good way)in my age group and this gradually progresses as they age. They both have the really short hair etc. I’m not saying that all women should keep their hair longer to stay feminine but I do think it could help, if it looks good on you. I don’t want to lose my femininity. Great content Kay! Always love seeing your fashion videos.
Husband and I both over 60, married >35 years. We are both lazy in clothes but I would like looks for the rare date night. Also not willing to give up longish hair. Waviness is much easier to manage.
I am a little different in to buy expensive clothes, my problem is that I get tired of the clothes, bags, jewelry, shoes, I buy inexpensive items that I can donate or get rich if don’t don’t want them anymore.
I've bought most of my blazers from thrift stores. Most were 20.00 and under! ❤
The tips are ever so useful, and the videos often push me into action for a more elevated style, because as I lead a very active, sporty life style, I tend to buy/wear mainly casual pieces. Even my husband has noticed...... result lol.

Thank you for another wonderful video. I have trouble prioritizing and making decisions about what to invest in for the long haul and not spend money on things that will look dated in a year or two. You give great advice!
Also, I personally think that Kay does an excellent job of featuring clothes at a variety of price points. Kay regularly recommends a more economical option. I also love the way Kay makes her readers aware of sales at MANY stores.

Great video, Kay! Love your suggestion to prioritize the spending! There's no way the average woman can invest a lot in every piece of clothing. It makes sense to splurge more on completer pieces, shoes, and handbags that you'll use year after year, though. Happy Valentine's Day, and thanks for the spring dance. I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Yes, we all have different budgets for clothing, but when I learned to proportion mine for certain things it really helped me build a wardrobe I can feel good about.

I have had many Banana Republic SUPIMA cotton tees get holes in them after one wear or even before wash and wear (brand new, not worn) - very disappointing. I find Talbots Pima cotton tees do not develop holes.

Walmart has some great blazers, you may have to look online to find them if not in your WalMart store.

My style essential is classy, polished, and comfortable. ( I don't like to fuss all day with my outfit ) . I like straight-leg dark wash high rise for my figure. In winter my base colour is black. Great outfits today. You asked us if we don't like jeans to say why. Ha! I've never liked the look and feel of denim. I've tried on many different ones over the years only because I thought I should have a pair because "everybody was doing it". Jeans to me mean very casual, playtime or scrubbing the kitchen floor. I worked at the university in Madison WI and it always made me chuckle as I rode the bus to work. Students who always said they wanted to be recognized as individuals all dressed the same. You could look down the aisle and not distinguish one from the other. It was jeans, tee shirts and short winter coats. I always appreciate your including other styles of pants. I lean toward more classic and comfortable styles. Thanks Kay.

Hi Kay! Love your videos! So helpful! Would you consider doing a show on packing for a weekend? Especially if it might be raining? lol headed to Cincinnati this weekend and the weather looks WET. Mainly shoes are a big concern. Don’t want to wear my better shoes but don’t want to look frumpy!

Thank you. I agree that it’d be better for me to own one good, solid pair of jeans than 2 or 3 of jeans that are not at the same quality level. Even wearing the same pair three days in a row, the quality will maintain as will the style. With my legs, I can visibly see the quality of denim. However, I’m not much of a variety girl, so to each their own! God bless.

I never wear jeans. Never. I hate the feel of them. I have, I suppose, sensory issues. I’ve tried. Lord knows, I’ve tried. Nope. I have never thought that I’ve felt left out on this.

I do try to link to more economical options whenever possible, as I did with the blazer. But I’m not going to recommend something I’m not familiar with or excited about either. And I’m just over buying things only to show them here or on the blog. That’s not smart for me financially. But I am doing my best to find comparable pieces to show. 🤗

Loved the video! Fortunately I already have most of the on trend pieces. In the Nordstrom Anniversary sale u said u purchased the pink, leather moto jacket. I purchased it in pale beige. It’s beautiful but I’m having trouble styling it. The sleeves r a little slim so I wonder if u r having an issue too. I can’t c leaving it on at whatever function I’m going to like u would a blazer but I can’t figure out what would fit comfortably beneath it that I would feel ok taking the jacket off. If u could style ur jacket, I would really appreciate it. Tu!

That's something I don't understand. Retailers like Talbots whose main customer base is over 40 don't seem to design for them. Cap sleeves, very short sleeves, very few longer length tops, etc. I want elbow-length sleeves, and I want tops that hit at the leg-hip break.

Prefer more of a soft, flowy trouser. Or, even a simple cargo style pant. I can 💯% tolerate a lightweight cotton utility fabric in our Mediterranean-Desert 🏜 climate better. Plus, fabrics w/moisture wicking properties are my saving grace.
Dislike the weighty structure of jeans (or chinos)〰️particularly when the 🌡mercury rises🥵. No denim jacket or skirts either. The latter garment is seared in my psyche as "church girl." 😘Nothing against ⛪️ attire, but I can't seem to get that deadly dated association outta my head😖.
😎Once it heats up here, I happily live in skirts for the majority of the time. It's my "shorts alternative" for a polished casual look.

My priority this spring is comfortable stylish shoes. Nothing looks stylish when I’m limping around because my feet hurt.
I’ve been away from your posts for a while, but remembered some loafers you promoted a year or so ago and came looking. I came across your Calla shoes video and am hoping I’ve finally found a shoe that will work. Wide toe box and cushioned support equals comfort for me. One thing to note is as clothes for spring are more form fitting time to reassess the underwear! Girls can’t be saggy !
I can hardly believe there is anyone who ‘doesn’t wear jeans’ in 2024! They have been current/modern for 50 years or more. Anyone who feels jeans are beneath themself is way out of touch!

Flesh toned shoes do not elongate your leg look if your legs are covered in a contrasting color.
OK, why don’t I like jeans?
1. I am an apple shape and they are hideously uncomfortable.
2. They can look chic in white, black or navy but any of the washed out shades in between make you look as if you have come to fix the plumbing.
3. Don’t even get me started on ripped jeans.

Jeans are too hot. If you live in the tropics or sub tropics then it doesn't make sense unless you are doing something physical and you need to protect your body. Linen might be better.
