Knowing how to do rotational in sims 3 now makes me wanna play the entirety of Sunset Valley rotationally bc i literally dont know anything abt the families in that town (or any sims 3 town-)
late comment here but it’s good to mention that using nrass porter won’t actually delete your relationships if you move the other households with you like for example family A and family B are connected on a family tree and that will be saved and in tact if you move them together with that mod to a new town :) I really like this mod because I only really care about moving all my family members from different houses to another town and their relationships are all saved
something i recently started doing was reading into the lore of each towns to work my sims into their stories, for example i never knew the late night vampires were having a feud and i had so much fun incorporating the story into my legacy family
Thanks for this video. The section on rotational play was particularly helpful. My story legacy family already has three branches and there is about to be a fourth. Things are getting complicated, so if I want to take care of all of them adopting rotational play will be the best way to continue.
Now this makes me want to start a new game to play rotationaly. Thank you for making this video. I've always wanted to play this way but never knew how.
The video is very cool! I really liked the first tip. I also want to share my interesting way of playing Sims. I created a sim, added happiness points, and bought a potion that stops ageing. The goal of my heroine is to upgrade all available skills, reach level 10 in each career and in each branch of a career, get a level 3 visa of each country, get all the statues of honor in the Future, get all diplomas. I also want to revive all the dead sims in Sunset Valley and have them participate in Story Progression. It is very interesting to play due to the fact that a lot of things have not been done yet, and there is so much that can be done.
thank you so much for this video!! i’ve been wanting to really start a legacy family and i needed help with ways to make it fun, while still playing the same family for so many generations!!
I got back into playing sims after months of not playing it (yk what I'm talking about) and I was downloading all these new mods into my game but didn't know how all of them worked/ what they could do. Like, I didn't know you could edit your sim through master controller instead of shift clicking and 'edit in CAS'! Literally, it was so annoying how their ages got messed up. So thanks for teaching me that! Anyways, I think I watched two other of your tutorial-esque videos on mods, the one talking about nraas mods and the one talking about story progression. Honestly, you've been my hero, I wish there was actual information/ tutorial by the mod creators about what everything means and what the mods allow you to do. Ik it has the FAQ on the nraas site, but I know way more about master controller from you than from reading that! Even this video has helped me! In Sims 2 I did rotational gameplay -- well haha, it was Sims 2, all you could do was rotational gameplay. if you switched houses. Anyways, I really liked playing that way in Sims 2! I think I had one town filled with occult sims, like I'd have a family of vampires, of werewolves, of aliens, also like, a family where everyone is normal except the mum is married to bigfoot aha. And I was just about to search for a video on how to do this, and yasss, you explained it right here really well! The bookmark metaphor made it completely make sense! So again, thanks :) Since I installed the mods for teen pregnancy I've been using it non-stop haha, it has so much story telling potential! I also realized a while back that it's more interesting and sims have better personalities if you give them some 'bad' traits, or traits that you would normally avoid giving sims - unless those sims were supposed to be mean/ dislikes children/ etc. The Wiki point was also good! There's so much gameplay in Sims 3 (unlike in Sims 4 -.-) that you almost forget what you can explore and story-tell through that gameplay. One other thing though - do you know much about castes? Like, just how you utilised them for rotational storytelling, I feel like switching stuff on and off for specific castes could do other stuff? (Aside from like, getting teens pregnant.) Like, I think in your other videos you said you made it so vampires couldn't get pregnant/ be impregnated bc it was unrealistic, and you did this through the caste system? What I mean is, would there be a way to make your own caste and do different things to them, or something? Or, like do things to specific sims? I was playing around with master controller I think and I tried to make it so my sim couldn't get a job and couldn't learn skills, but it didn't work? Like, would there be a way to make a new sim caste which applied to sims, not households? And how would you do this? If you're ever wanna make a video going over the caste options and what you can do/ how they work, I'm here for it haha :) Anyways, sorry for the essay, and thanks heaps for the content x
Thank you so much for your comment! I really love helping people with The Sims 3, it really is such a great game if you know how to use mods! And yes! There's totally a way to make your own castes and manipulate what Sims in that specific caste can and can't do. For example, during my LPs, I have a "Can't Breakup" caste, which makes it so that the Sims I place in that caste WILL NOT be broken up via Story Progression because those are two Sims that I see as "Soulmates". The example that quickly comes to the top of my head is Bob and Betty Newbie from my Seasons LP - I never want those two to break up because they are such an iconic couple in The Sims franchise. For your last question, if you wanted to apply a caste over your ENTIRE town population, all you would have to do is go to City Hall -> NRAAS -> SP -> Caste Options -> Non Active Family and do all the Career: Allow -> False, Skill: Allow -> False, etc. etc. (the same settings I went over regarding the skills and jobs in the video) to the Non Active Family caste. I assume you don't want this on your current family, as you're playing them. Once again, thank you so much for your comment! I love responding to & reading long comments! 💖
It was interesting to see how to do rotational play with the CAST system as I've never seen it done this way. I do rotational play with awesome mod (to keep things static) + no story progression (because I don't want them doing silly things while I'm not playing) and my own Mod of Randomness to handle TS2 style ageing, because overwatch breaks the TS2 style ageing in awesome mod. And yes, completely agree that rotational play is the thing to keep the game interesting. Glad I stumbled upon your channel.
Hey I just saw this video and I wanna know how did you do your family tree it's so cool with life stats, traits etc. How can I do this, I guess it's a website but Idk which one can you tell me or have you got any video for that? I need to do this for my families on Sims 2 and Sims 3 ( yeah I don't usually play Sims 4 I prefer 2 and 3)❤
Awesome ideas that are helping me for the other sims games also, thank you. Funny, I thought your randomized sim looked decent...mine are 99% monstrous abominations. I have so many sliders...
When you set up the rotational caste, you selected true for this setting: Caste: Apply to Household, but if you set it to false, wouldn’t you skip all the hassle of manually removing and adding them to the cast when switching households? If the active household technically was in the caste but since you’re playing them the caste settings would be on hold since that particular setting would be set to false… Or does the mod kick your family out of the caste list if you have it to false? Have you tried this? Would it work?
I get what you're saying, but as soon as you switch off the household you just played, you'd have to make sure to quickly add them back to the Rotational Caste. I'm sure if you checked Caste: Apply to Household, you'd skip the extra step, though! If you give it a try, lemme know how it works!
In rotational gameplay, aging in inactive families is frozen, so only the family you're currently controlling will age. Then, when you switch households, the old one will stop aging while the new one will start aging until you switch households again.
@@uraddiictOnx3 If you want to keep the age of every sim in the world sync up, then yeah. But in case where you just focus on a certain group of families, then those who are not put under the rotation caste will still age as usual.
I got a question about rotational play. The ages of your families', say best friends who aren't put in the caste, wouldn't their ages and all the ages of the other townies become weird. I mean, say you play 1 simweek with one family and 1 simweek with the other family, this means 2 weeks for every other family (those you don't play)? So basically they will age a lot faster then the households you play? Or am I wrong here? Sorry if this is explained weird. 😆
Yep! They age A LOT faster. I didn't have a workaround for this at the time that I made this video. Nowadays, in my personal games, I only turn aging ON in the season of summer. This mitigates those issues!
i wanna play a lepacy soso bad but i get an error whenever i remove all of my expansion packs. i think i know what mod it is but i even refreshed all of my files and the mod is still there. u make a lepacy seem like so much fun and i'll definitely be using all of these to spice up my gameplay!
Hi!! Thank you so much for all the vids you’ve done! One question, is it possible that i keep the wishes if I wanna play rotational families at the same time? 😊
I noticed that the manual caste only has number one so does that mean only one family can be added to the caste? If so, is there a way for more than two households? Also can the wishes be kept after switching household cause I followed your instructions and when I came back to my first household, I lost the all of my sims wishes. Sorry if I don’t make any sense, English isn’t my first language
You can add as many families to the castes as you want! In my Sunset Valley Rotational Play I have currently going on my channel, I have 4-5 families in there at one time. And yes, with NRAAS Master Controller, you can turn on “Retain Dreams and Opportunities” by clicking on City Hall -> NRAAS -> MC -> Retain Dreams & Opportunities -> True. This will make it so your wishes/wants/opportunities stay on when you switch from family to family. 😊
I find most of the sims 3 premades boring so i delete most of them and start over with my own sims. I've been playing rotational for years. It's so much more fun that way for me.
Thank you for this! Just wondering, if the sim you're playing flirts with another sim (who's added in to the "Rotational play" caste because you're not playing them), what happens? If I try this out I'd still like the sims I create to get together when they interact with one another, just wondering if I ought to leave out the romance 'false' setting for that to be possible!
Thank you so much for the tutorial! I followed the one about moving town and I managed to move my sims while keeping the family tree and relationships intact. However I got a problem: I have 3 sisters,2 of them in Appaloosa Plais and the other in Isla Paradiso. I love playing Sims 2 rotationally and I've tried so hard to enjoy Sims 3 but I can't manage to do it. The open world is overwhelming to me. The sims themselves are so ugly even with custom content and default replacements and I hate their animations for almost everything, specially when they are walking and stop and they do like a little pose with their hips to the side lol. I hope this video can help me.
Drowning Sims in a pool gets old. Enacting whole Game of Thrones political mind games with challenges and tournaments between houses in which even your favorite or main sims may fkn DIE abruptly and violently makes the game more fun. This way I keep the number of inhabitants low so the game doesn't crash and keep progressing without getting too attached :D The 4 wish system, lifetime goal and random acts are not truly indicative of real human behavior. So I made handmade cards with motives and random events that spice up the gameplay. I try to read the sims 4 wishes by combining them and divining a "desire" of the sim, example: See kid get on honor roll, throw a party, get married and play catch, gives me = Raise house standing by having child succeed at academics due to political reasons, reward kid with a party, attempt to marry up the political ladder due to success." Something like that. I am constantly thinking of developing new systems to enrich the gameplay, learning from other games. Still attempting to get into making mods but it is (not that hard but) so time consuming! I'd rather download mods, but the game is practically dead and everyone jumped ship to ride EA's Sims 4 dik... Still, I haven't even scratched the potential of TS3.
Please also note: regarding the teen pregnancy, I believe MC Cheats is also required in order for the “Pollinate” button to appear!
