    I have over a 15 generation legacy rn and I think what kept me playing was always having a full household. That’s kind of how I like to start over every generation because once the matriarch passes, I split whatever inheritance was left and have all kids move out to different places so they’d end up with at least 10k or less. Sometimes I would add drama like their parents didn’t leave a will, one of the siblings was greedy, something awful happened to the heir to the point they had to run away from home and just start from scratch again, etc.

    Bonus tip: If nothing is working, completely switch your play style, e.g. if you're a family player, try occults! If you're a career player, try pure chaos! Eventually, go back to your original play style, and you'll appreciate it a lot more. If you find yourself preferring one of the different play styles you tried, good for you! Just stick with it.

    RE: tip #2. Maybe this is me doing internal storyline stuff but I also like picking traits based on a sim’s upbringing. I’m currently six generations deep in my legacy save and, for example, my first three generations were pretty wholesome and down to earth sims because they started from poverty, my second gen heir grew up rough and remembered her parents struggling, and while my family was decently well off by gen 3 my heir for that generation was still fairly good-natured because she was raised by these sims that struggled. But when she had kids, her and her husband were looser with the parenting so their son (4th gen spare) was a kinda wild sim with the evil and noncommittal traits and villainous Valentine aspiration who had fourteen illegitimate kids and their daughter became a greedy, wealth-hungry politician. The former is dead now (RIP Gaius, you were iconic) and the latter is an elder and the grandmother of three. Her son was kinda rebellious and had aspirations of joining a more creative but low paying career (mixology) so he’s going hard in the other direction and making it possible with his mom’s wealth. She is frustrated. 😭

    • @sc6658
      @sc6658 5 месяцев назад

      @@rarenianii7750 If you want an update five months down the line, all of that gen 5 mixologist’s kids are young adults or older now (he ended up with four!). His second child, a daughter, is his heir and she is now a mother of two (currently teen boy and girl child, the latter is my heir). His mother left over a million simoleons in the money vault when she passed and it’s still sitting there while her son (now an elder) and his wife draw pension since they’re both retired. Gen 6 heir is currently an adult and is a sim in black; she joined the military partially due to being inspired by her great-grandfather (gen 3 heir’s husband) who was an officer and his medals are in the attic and partially due to her getting interested in the Strangerville mystery and she was trying to get an access card, which she got by getting high enough in the military. This is also how she met her current husband kinda (they were both teens and had multiple “dates” at the secret lab where he watched her hack the computers; she grew up very wealthy because of her grandma and she’s basically super skilled because she has tons and tons of equipment at her disposal to do whatever with and tons of free time because she graduated high school early).
      Gen 7 kids are a kinda slacker serial romantic teen boy who’s currently working as a lifeguard and a reserved loner girl child who’s an excellent student and learns very fast. Currently planning their next vacation (which will be the last for the gen 5 couple as I have like eleven days left of that generation’s heir; sad because his relationship is pretty wholesome even though he got his now wife pregnant for the first time in high school due to my woohoo wellness mod). Gen 5 did get to be a master mixologist though, completing the career but as a bonus mastering nectar making and juice fizzing (plus cooking, gourmet cooking, and baking!). He got to live his passions and in retirement he’s spending time with his wife and grandkids.

    One thing I like to do is to have like “side stories” especially when I get new pack, 8 switch to one of the other families in the tree or move someone out and do a legacy challenge based on that new pack (or do any challenge I find fun) my current legacy has three “branches” my main family, a mermaid legacy and a toned down not so berry challenge
    This not only makes it more interesting but I get to play with parts of the game I don’t normally do, also helps make massive family trees which I love!

    Yes! I 100% agree with your first rule of relaxing or changing the rules! A huge challenge in the Sims 2 is the Build a City Challenge (BACC), where you basically start with a select few of households and grow a city over generations. I loved the idea, but all the rules I could find on it included keeping track of sims taxes (ew math) and a HUGE point system that honestly made me never even want to try it. Earlier this year I decided to make my own BACC challenge where I stripped away or changed a lot of the original challenge, and I have been absolutely loving it! Some people enjoy different things or different playstyles so challenges are not "one size fits all."

  • @aranara_song
    @aranara_song Год назад +11

    Personally what's helped them keep it fun is make my own rules. I keep the rules very simple:
    - No cheats unless it is to fix a bug;
    - Remain on the same lot however I buy real estate so my sims can move around;
    - Get to 10 gens.
    That's it. I found some rules very restrictive, like the one where you can't add your own made sims to the family. In my previous legacy, I followed that rule and eventually my sims always looked the same and also my game ended up having no one for my sim to marry because EA Story Progression is bad (I now play with Nraas's) and since I couldn't add my own sims, I just ended up having to marry game generated pudding faced sims. I tried to fix that by going to travel destinations or the future to marry premade sims from there. For various reasons I ended up scrapping that save and I now am trying different things I don't usually do. For example, I always do matriarchies because I much prefer playing with female sims and I never really invest into my male sims, but this time I'm not going to influence the gender of my sims' children and for my first gen they had a boy as their first baby. Also in my previous legacy I ended up moving out sims that weren't that interesting to me but this time around I'm going to play with every sim or try to, unless I really don't enjoy that sims personality.

    For my Sims 3 100 Baby Challenges, one of the common rules is that you have to randomize traits of the children born. But not for the founding parent! So I decided to alter it up by randomizing her traits in CAS, pick one of the randomized traits, and repeat that until I had a set of 5 traits to pick. So, it was a mixture of randomizing and picking, which I found made the founder more interesting. And it was always fun to get family-oriented as one of the randomized ones!
    Also, for the babies? Randomizing traits? ...I have had so many babies in the challenges who, as toddlers or children, ended up with the combo of Artistic + Evil.
    EVIL ART! MUHAHAHAHA! Or the one kid that was Evil, Artistic, and got Brave as a teenager, and then beat up a burglar, but was also kinda impressed by the burglar...

    One thing that I like to do to keep things interesting is to also change one or two traits for my sims every now and then. For example maybe they start at as a loner but outgrow that eventually. And I don’t necessarily change it to the opposite which would be outgoing(but you could I you’d like) but I change it to something else that typically fits the current direction of the story or randomize

    For me the biggest challange of a lecagy gameplay is to part away from gen 1, I don't do the usual challanges that other people come up with 😂 it's the first thing I did when I got TS4, and when slowly purchasing packs it was my way of exploring the game!
    Gen 1 was basegame and seasons, gen 2 was cats and dogs, gen 3 was a robotics engineer, gen 4 escaped to off the grid living in a farm, gen 5 on an island living off the land, gen 6 was spoiled and went off to become a famous actress, gen 7 moved to the big city and became a stylist without gen 7's fortune - now gen 8 I'm thinking about eco lifestyle - maybe living in the city is too much pollution for the boy and he wants to save the planet 🦋

    If you're bored of finding a partner for your sim by watching Sims walking down the street and you don't wanna install packs or mods, you can make rules of your own, for example:
    The possible partner (popa) has to have at least (insert number) of these qualifications:
    -is (or isn't) a childhood friend of your sim (ys)
    -has any (or two or all) of the traits (insert three traits ys is attracted to)
    -is (decent, good, amazing, etc) looking
    -has (over, under, etc) (insert amount of money)
    -any other qualifications you can think of!

    I have made myself a few rules for my family legacy, because they rely on the wisdom of the ones that passed and believe in highter realm.
    1. If a child isn't born or taken care of from pure love from both legal guardians, it gets moved a little bit down on the heritage list (example: my sim had a husband and he was quite toxic, they had a kid, but when she grew up she was forced to find her own home, because the "housekeepers", the other family members, had been highter on the list. Same thing is is the child doesn't love their parents enough), the only loophole is when the parents don't have as much children.
    2. The protector of the dead and lost souls that have found their way on the graveyard of my family must be the eldest available person of the family tree, the protector must have an unnatural death (ex.: dying by freezing)
    3. If an ancestor, adopted or blood-related, has any sort of a royal title, their kids will have too.
    4. By the end of the legacy challenge, all of the possible accomplishments must be finished.
    5. The legacy lasts for 100 generations and more.
    6. If i cheat some money into my household, it is like borrowing money from a bank. I give myself a deadline to pay off the loan, but sometimes, when the sim sudently goes broke, their helpful relative can pay it off.
    I've got many more but there are so many rules that sometimes i lose myself in them, maybe i should relax 😂

      @@ClaudiKetchup I play Sims 4 without any mods (except "Better Last Exceptions"). From my experience you can totally enjoy playing the game without using any mods. But most players stick to the very same features with all their Sims. Starting the perfect family and earning money through painting and gardening is fun but if it's the only story they play over and over again it sure gets boring. 💦 I think the biggest issue of Sims4 are the bugs which make certain features un-useable. (E.g. restaurants and weddings)

      @@lemonbunny71 what you wrote can be done in every Sims game. But even playing with every feature in TS4 the game is more boring then past Sims games. There are videos on RUclips comparing the Sims games single features and 4 only rarely comes up on top.
      EA for some reason put many arbitrary limitations into TS4. There are many ways to play that can't be done with 4, but are easily possible in 3. At the same time there is no Playstyle 4 offers that can't be done way better with more depth and repercussions in TS3! This is a big problem.

    I'll always pick only 1 life define trait and random others for all sims in family. And on 2-3 generation usually family split in 2 branches and have enough money for big houses and thats where super fun begins for me. One brach is is holding good trait and other evil, also it define their careers. But all of them live on the same lot in split houses and i try to hold their relationships in friendly zone (its hard if you get evil 10 career aura, basically impossible). Sometimes i decide to send one heir to trip and get spouse, so i had half french branch(like royals in history) and its fun to watch genetic difference in two branches.
