- SIESTA KEY, Fla. (WWSB)--MTV's newest reality show titled "Siesta Key" will air in July. It follows the lives of a group of college students returning home for the Summer. However, not everyone on Siesta is pleased with the attention.
We love going to Siesta Key and spend a lot of money to do so and we do this for the laid back and beautiful beach and the village. I hope this show doesn't ruin a beautiful a village with what it could bring in there!
Mike Holderness hasn't even lived on Siesta Key until recently. His house was in Whitfield Estates on the bay, near his parents, and where many of his friends have been more than "rowdy" residents through the years. (Blowing through no wake zones with their own obnoxious loud boats, because they don't think the laws apply to them.) Guess when your parents own Sara Bay Realty which he too is a partner in, you not only get to be driving tax payer paid for vehicles with emergency lights, (as the head of the local volunteer fire department), but you get to be on TV talking about "concerns" with a new reality show, that is only going to help drive real estate prices... likely the reason he remains so optimistic about it. Check out the criminal records on that family and his brother if you doubt... As a native to the area I assure you that the people voicing there concerns are "silver spoons" themselves who have either a motive to be noticed too, or are just plain stuffy people who don't want anyone disrupting their pathetic sheltered social life style.. I can say this because as a mega yacht captain I have worked for many of them... Most of us in the normal working class will look forward to the changes that the attention to the area will bring. The old guard is changing whether people like it or not... either get on board or get lost in the tide that is rolling in. Change is good from time to time, and it is long overdue for the "good ole boy" run towns around here. Too many daddys kids who aren't respected by their own merit trying to run things.. These kinds of people need to travel beyond their bubble a little more often and see what life is like out side of it! As for the complaints regarding the accuracy of the show, its entertainment folks.... get over it already! Probably the same people who thought that WWF was real too!

it is complete BS, half of the cast never lived here. all of them were beyond their freshman year, they do not seem to realize that Siesta Key is a tiny little island, and all of Sarasota County is not part of Siesta Key, a lot of it was filmed on Lido and referred to as Siesta. Complete garbage and not at all representative of Sarasota or Siesta key. I would like to ASK GARY to go waste his money a different way, the show he bought for his pampered little son will flop
My family and I loved going to Siesta until Memorial weekend & in Spring Break which was way before the show even aired. The beach has been overcrowded & has already been a party beach so I don't get why they are upset about a show that might or may not portray it bad. That was already done maybe not all year round but during Summer or Spring or Holiday weekend it has been bad. The last time we went was Memorial weekend the beach was a mess on land & in water, trash, beer bottles, crazy music blasting, fights, people partying, & not to mentioned we even witnessed a crash with drunk drivers that tried to flee. The following day while watching the news they even showed how the beach was a total waste & even said if Dr. Beach saw it that it wouldn't be number one beach. So clearly the show has brought the tourist here the tourist has been already here partying and most likely because it has been named the #1 beach for awhile.

As a naive the age of the kids, they're pretty much accurate about the kids : drugs, crazy rich, parties " in there enclave" members only kinda way
Mike Holderness is another part of what's wrong with Siesta Key. I have videos of him screaming in my face on Easter morning 8:15 AM. I was videoing a person driving their golf cart down the beach to launch his ATV, which is illegal. He saw me and stormed across the beaching, screaming at me for it. I was on public land, and so was he. He has harassed dozens of people on public property, and has had the cops called on him several times. He is loud,rude, and has very bad breath. That what screaming in people's face will reveal about you. Then he gets on TV anD "worries" about what kind of impression this show will leave. Unfortunately, his deeds will leave a much longer lasting impression on Siesta Key than this short lived TV show.
You are absolutely right... he needs to wash his own hands before pointing at other peoples spots for sure!

Is an attempt of the mtv to make a new the hiils, laguna beach 2017 sure is false but I'll attend the same way I love bad thing I'll watch as a TV series
This show is Awesone. I mean it really shows others in there youth real life situations. I mean this is reality now. if you don't like it don't watch it
it happens everywhere not just in siesta
these people have real life problems just like the rest of us, and MTV isn't afraid to show it. That's what i have always loved about mtv.
The show is about Drama, Gossip, Spoiled Rich Kids getting drunk and partying every night, etc!
I don’t think the kids on siesta key are bad people

Enough people in Sarasota let their fears and feelings be known and fortunately this fake show was dumped real fast. Funny how the cast tried so, so hard to milk their 15 minutes of fame for as long as they could. But no one was interested.
