I Miss Bill Watts and those Saturday 5 or 6 pm Championship/Mid South Wrestling shows on the old channel 26 in New Orleans. My guys were Ernie Ladd and Dick Murdoch!!
Awesome. Interesting interview. Another reason why I love old school pro wrestling. The old guys know their stuff which is the very reason why their achievements did the wrestling world good in their day. Hey, when I look at a lot of these old school videos on youtube, even the new fans give this classic wrestling some well deserved praise. Luckly for me, I lived in the era which is the 80's where wrestling was the bomb. Eternal love for the old school.
Wow, I remember seeing Watts at the Milwaukee Auditorium around 1968. He was in the main event against the Champion, Vern Gagne. It was the first time I saw a "good guy" vs. a "good guy". The match ended in a DQ against Watts. A guy behind me started ranting about it, so I asked him what's up. He had driven up from Chicago to see the match, and the same exact thing happened there the night before. That's when I smarted up as to what wrestling was all about.
I actually quite like him and like listening to him,Watts was a great worker and talker in his day, there's a great match with him against Jack Brisco, Watts on commentary is absolute gold, really great heel work
Bill gets overlooked in the tough guy talks . He was a champion collegiate wrestler and football lineman . However , I think Bill has already said Danny Hodge was too much fir him .
putting a match together and being the main guy of a company are 2 completely different things..and besides, the man in question here is VM Jr., not his father since he obviously had a different perspective on the business at the time. To say Vince Jr. "injected the poison" as the guy said in 76' is crazy.
In 1976, I'm sure Vince Sr. didn't foresee the huge changes his son would make to the business otherwise he wouldn't have sold the parent company to his son and Titan Sports.
Watts would succeed today in the wrestling business... it is so weak now... TNA should give him the reigns... they can't do any worse than what they are doing... everybody is still wanting wrestling to be what it was in the '90s... NOTHING is what it was in the 90s...
There are so many wrestlers that can’t stand Bill. They said he was a bully, he would take advantage of wrestlers and was well know for asking wrestlers to let him show they how to do a move and shoot on them knowing he’s the boss and they couldn’t do anything back. Plus, his head was way too big for those dumb cowboy hats he wore. He looked like a goof with those hats on.
i would have asked him what happened with the russian kostias korchenko and why did he leave the business? what happened with the phoney kicks with helwig?
I am calling bullshit on what Watts said about putting the strap on Simmons. Look, the facts are nobody gave a damn Simmons being the WCW champ at that time. The house shows were dead. And tey only kept the strap on him for a few months. Nobody gave a damn about that.
Imagine how ignorant you'd have to be to believe that. Women that are menstruating or have just given birth aren't even allowed in church according to Leviticus.
sorry spectacloeoffdebord, but ur wrong. why not go to church, some sunday and with an open mind discover a realtionship with God for ur self? may God bless u

I have been watching wrestling since I was 6 and I am the most polite, kind, mild mannered and modest person I know
Bill's book, the Cowboy and the Cross is awesome.

watts is a bully not a racist he was friends with ernie ladd he also discovered and made junkyard dog a star.
I would of paid to see Cowboy Bill Watt's and Harley square off inside or outside the ring. Two of the toughest people in the whole industry.
Bill gets overlooked in the tough guy talks . He was a champion collegiate wrestler and football lineman . However , I think Bill has already said Danny Hodge was too much fir him .
not really. bill watts wasnt shy at all but i wouldnt agree to him being one of the toughest in the business. he was just more of a bully.
@@1985HotRodAs if you even have a single clue about that. 😂😂😂
BILL WATTS's Book-The Cowboy & The Cross is a great read.
lot of rage for someone who doesnt know this man.

You'd have to be pretty stupid to believe that. The expansion started well before Sr. died.
Yeah but that was who put that match together...Vince Jr, working for Vince Sr.
Living legend
Ali vs. Inoki also was the birth of MMA.
It's been done before, see Jersey Joe Walcott vs Lou Thesz, and many more
😂😂😂 Yeah, keep believing that, you dope. 😂😂😂
@@grawakendream8980uh... wrestling is fake. You don't actually believe that was a real match, do you? 😂😂😂

How does the morals of old school wrestling compare to hollywood?
@youngbuck189 I know Bill Watts. He is a good guy. I have worked with him before and had no issues with the guy.
How long ago was this interview done?
Nell Bowie February 22, 2006
UWF 4 LIFE
Not true. Shootfighting was around long before that.
Vince McMahon Jr. wasn't even at the helm of the company in 1976...smdh!!~
i would have asked him what happened with the russian kostias korchenko and why did he leave the business? what happened with the phoney kicks with helwig?
I know, right??
stop being a mark and believing what you read in a magazine Chris Nata
Garth brooks cowboy bill
Herb Dean, phantom punches, fixed fights... MMA is a joke compared to what it used to be in the '80s and '90s

You should actually watch the match, you dumb fuck. You sound like an ignorant fool.
lol is it just me or does younbuck's typinng come off very iron shiefish
I know that's right. Why can't these guys just talk like normal people instead of working: god, jesus or the bible into every other sentence.
God, Jesus, the Bible are important. What do you have against them?
@@fjccommish it's not them, just the worthless pieces of shit that follow it. Biggest pieces of trash you will ever meet.
i wish he would try to start a new promotion. Wrestling is a joke now. Models and guys who can't wrestle.
i dont think u have read the bible, either that, or ur taking things out of context the bible DOES NOT advocate misogyny and slavery
Imagine how ignorant you'd have to be to believe that.
Women that are menstruating or have just given birth aren't even allowed in church according to Leviticus.
You're just another dumbass, clueless Christian that has never read the Bible.
