I think part of the dads talk with fleabag at the funeral is similar to clair getting angry at fleabag in episode 3. Clairs sees that being fun and bouncing back to (appear) care free is easy for fleabag, in the same way that the dad is talking about their mum finding it so easy to be kind and fun when its difficult for him. So whilst his literal words are being that he didnt always like her, the reason its kind of sweet is becuase he didnt like her for being so good at being good. Being around people like that is wonderful but, as it did with clair, it can also make you feel like you're failing because you question "why is being fun this hard for me when it isnt for them?"
This episode is great for another reason which is we can see how Fleabag's dad doesn't seem to have trouble talking in full sentences before his relationship with the godmother. Shows how much the godmother interrupts and stifles him. Also I just love the conversation with Fleabag and Boo about love. Its makes me tear up every time.
The Priest breaking the 4th wall will always be one of my all time fave moments of any tv show, it's just so shocking and so endearing at the same time when you understand the connotations of it, as you said, someone actually SEEING her, and also her seeing his fox.... ah, they are so perfect. Also the kneel scene changed me, I know it's wicked and that Fleabag was so vulnerable then but god damn was it attractive... Anyways your reaction to this show is perfect, ty!!!!!!!!
What a masterpiece this show is. Every detail brings so much story with it. Show don't tell, tell enough, don't spoonfeed your audience. And knowing the details will come, it's so wonderful to watch your careful reaction. I'm overjoyed, it's like watching for the first time again, or like having a secret to share with a good friend
So fun fact, the scene where music starts playing in the church is actually different in the US version than the UK. The UK version it’s supposed to be playing Jenny from the Block by Jennifer Lopez which is WAY FUNNIER but there were copyright issues so that’s why it’s just some random generic song. Similarly, the opening scene in the bathroom is supposed to be playing strangers in night by Frank Sinatra instead of the other random song but they had issues with that as well. That one’s the true tragedy for me cuz I think that would have conveyed an entirely different message and mood 😩
I love your reactions and how you take in every moment and embrace Fleabag and Priest's chemistry! It's like almost remembering what it felt like seeing Fleabag for the first time
The priest breaking the fourth wall and her being able to see the fox is very significant and symbolic. It shows that they have a genuine connection beyond just being horny for each other.
I love your reactions! Makes me think you are a part of the Fleabag universe! The jumpscare was everything! I think you get the nuances right... you understand Fleabag so well
I stumbled on to "Fleabag" a few years ago and watched it alone. It's great to rewatch it through your experience here. Pheobe is now a prolific dramatic writer with many credits to her name. One of the others is "Killing Eve" which I'm re-watching now. Brilliant. I like your talk on the fourth wall breaks with Andrew (actor). I loved LOVED him in "Sherlock" - how evil and wretched and nearly possessed. (The pool scene) ("I will burn the heart out of you" - chills). I see her writing as whimsical and playful as her own character "Fleabag". My theory was she was talking to her best friend who she lost but I like what you are saying about this being her inner monologue - in a senses - in her own head - which many of us are guilty of - and this is her transition out of her head. Brilliant! Andrew Scott is amazing and captivating as well. Great choice on casting. I think his character is fighting inner demons as well though. I don't think it's God stopping him, I think it is his own path to getting back to living outside his head after years of his family life. His existence with Fleabag is META on his own life to a degree but like Fleabag - fills the psychological "significant other" - a true partner. The true partner she has been looking for and not found in her life - with the exception of her sister and her dad - from time to time through rays of light in his aging darkness. Oh that we can all find a significant other be able to live more on the outside - that's the point of human existence? Right? To not be alone but to LIVE fully with others. /sigh/
I feel always so alone with one take: i thought it was really unfortunate and sad that just when fleabag was finally opening up about her feelings and troubles and actually asking for help and guidance, the priest who could've done his job and helped her instead was drunk and gave in. Fleabag slipping into her old patterns.
You might enjoy _Staged,_ with the stars of _Good Omens_ attempting to rehearse a play on Zoom during the pandemic (not that it's over). Fictional versions of them. That has a similar meta quality to this.

Your eyes literally rolled back when he said "kneel" lmao. Perfect reaction.
When the Priest looked at the camera my immediate first thought was “oh no, he saw me!” Hahahaha!

It's funny when you think that we're the fictitious ones in her world.
@@HuntingViolets We're her imaginary friends.
@@biharcourt Basically.
I would give a lot to erase this show from my memory and watch it for the first time again.
I know 😭😭 i’ve finished it now and like what am i supposed to do now?? 😭
@@TheLexiCrowd oooh,I can't wait for your reaction. 😭😅
@@TheLexiCrowdwatch killing eve, I'm pretty sure Phoebe waller bridge (the creator of fleabag and the actor of fleabag) is the writer for it
I’ve experienced that feeling three times…Season 2 of Fleabag, Season 1 of The Good Place, & all 3 seasons of Avatar The Last Airbender!

Having three sisters, I related so much with this series. Loved this season especially with the continuation of Claire and Fleabag's relationship.
I think this is one of the greatest things that has been on telly.
I don't trust anyone who doesn't get it.

All the way through this series, you have been very insightful about the storyline. You are always one step ahead!
Your enthusiastic reactions to this show are infectious and have made me rewatch it and appreciate it even more.

Don't know if you have already, but after Fleabag I would suggest another masterpiece, that is Derry Girls

Didn't she say that she lost a week? Not that it'll last a week?
She said the friendship wont last a week
I thought she said that because she knew they’d sleep together. The “just friends” part would only last a week…. And she was right 😂
