Hoppes #9 is a dedicated powder solvent. You would still need a light oil to protect the metal. The Clenzoil did a decent job dissolving burnt powder and protecting the metal.
We only have one gun in the house we keep clean with Hoppes #9. Works but might try the new Clenzoil. Stupid question but it's a shotgun used for targets do you think it might be good for it? Thanks

First of all you are comparing a solvent with a CLP. And for pulling up carbon obviously the solvent is going to do a much better job point is you can’t compare the two when it comes to pulling up carbon because they’re not both the same kind of product. But the fact that Clenzoil came pretty damn close to that solvent sure looks like it beats the pants off anything else that I’ve seen
The *Smell Test* is what really matters.........And no one can beat the Sweet Bouquet of Hoppe's No. 9
