What kind of main line and size of hooks do you use for this kind of fishing even to catch some of the smaller ones? Do they all take the same sized hook?
If your a guide like you say you are shouldn't you know not to lift a eel without gloves on that size . I'd watch smash fishing if in was you he knows how to land big conger with hand lines

I've done groundbaiting for congers for years, it's an excellent method for getting bigger eels to not be so timid.
