Honest can you do a video on Iyaz, Far East Movement, DEV, The Cataracs, Gym Class Heroes Mindless Behavior, Diggy Simmons, Jacob Latimore,OMG Girlz, and Eva Simmons, please? 😊
Could you do a video on what happened to Amanda Bynes? I'm new to your channel. It's awesome.👍
Can you do a video on LUL JOHN
“Down” was literally THE anthem of my freshman year of high school. 😟
The most nostalgic song of 2000's
Feel old yet 😈
@@deadmeme5726 I’ve already accepted that I’m an ancient immortal vampire, TY though.🧛🏼♀️
**sophomore 🙋🏾♀️
I always think of seventh grade when I hear this song
This was back when Wayne would do a song with everyone lol. I remember him doing the most random collabs.
Oh yes, how could we also forget his legendarily awful Weezer feature?
Or Let It Rock (though I like that song)
What rock and roll feels like
so true , I’m like why. Hated pop songs that added rap verses. Like why was Ludacris talking on Baby with Justin. 😆
@@ebbie0074 Guarantee you that there wasn’t a single rap guest verse on a pop song from that era that was written in more than 10 minutes, I guess not every rap feature in non rap music could do what Mike Shinoda did with Linkin Park
His career went quick he blew up in a time where everyone had a blow up song and you actually could truly take over I enjoyed him. Cash money really wasn’t the best place for him when nicki and drake came that was the label focus. They even let Lloyd and many others fall to the waste side.
Nicki and Drake were making hits lol the other rappers in that group were trash
@@iwatchtrashtv213 what she’s saying isn’t a lie tho. Drake and Nicki were the focus. You can tell because after Wayne put out the Carter 3 in ‘08 he kinda fell back as far as making dope music. He was giving them time to get their shine. You can hear it in Wayne music. You can hear the music from ‘08 up until ‘14, Wayne wasn’t putting out bad music but he wasn’t putting out quality music either.
@@iwatchtrashtv213 and tyga until 2014
@@shutit4024 tyga never had a major hit
Down with Wayne was so iconic lmao! When he says ‚i‘m down like the economy‘ i felt that
That hit too close to home at that time.Even now.
yes it's because America is declined and falling China will takeover
I’ll always give Jay Sean props for being a South Asian pop star in the west. That’s practically a unicorn. To be a PoC, r&b leaning pop star, in the U.K. was difficult enough bc it’s not the most popular genre here and you had to work twice as hard back then for half the recognition. But to be a PoC UK pop star who managed to pull-off a successful American crossover is even more rare. Him and Taio both managed it, and a lot of people in the U.K. scene had a slightly blindsided - “why them”? - Type of attitude about their huge crossover success…because neither of them exactly had the red carpet rolled out for them by the establishment within the U.K. music scene..at all. Quite the contrary..they were both pretty much ignored in the U.K. scene for years and the music critical class had a cultural blind spot. Then when “mr local schmocal” has hit records that blow up in America, everybody wants to embrace and be revisionist, acting so proud you’re out in the states flying the flag for British Pop, acting like they were supporting your career and believed in you the whole time 😅 lol..they didn’t. The truth is, they were more embraced in America than at home. People at home were too busy stanning Girls Aloud, Scouting for Girls and a bunch of other U.K. acts who would never crossover. 😂
Not Scouting For Girls?! I forgot all about them! 🤣
I think I get what you mean though, there were many flop crossover attempts by U.K. artists to break into America but they succeeded. I don’t think anybody expected it would be Jay Sean or Taio Cruz. I remember back then thinking, “how tf he pull off a Lil Wayne feature and getting signed to Cash Money”?! That was a big move at the time. U.K. music critics definitely had a blind spot, with them, they saw them as ‘local’ artists having ‘local’ hits. They didn’t see those songs as the global worldwide hits they eventually became and that must’ve been a bit embarrassing for them. But also it goes without saying that both their crossovers were short-lived so…
@@xavierlebon8425 true, Little Mix spent an entire decade trying to break America but never managed a major commercial breakthrough like Jay or Taio did (although they did have a longer career so who really won?). Also back then, U.K. commercial crossovers were rarer, that time was before Adele, before Ed, before Sam, before 1D. I remember back then Leona Lewis bleeding Love being a huge deal as a crossover smash hit for a U.K. pop artist and it being all over the news, we take for granted how common it is to have U.K. pop stars topping American charts, it didn’t use to be..
No lies were told 👏🏾👏🏾That’s what really annoys me about the UK they never give props to mostly POC artists until America does 🙄🙄
@@AXFN_ You're forgetting the most recent, astonishingly successful export, Dua Lipa
@@REDnBLACKnRED Is she really doing that good??
Other artists to do:
3OH!3
Olly Murs
Iyaz
Cascada
Gym Class Heroes
Flo Rida
Far East Movement
Timbaland
Adam Lambert
Hot Chelle Rae
Alexandra Stan
Cobra Starship
Nico and Vinz
MAGIC!
Yeah whatever happened to 3oh!3? I remember them having a hit with Ke$ha and then just vanishing.
Don’t Trust Me by 3OH!3 actually holds up way better than it should, in a world where most pop music sucks because it’s generic and there’s nothing happening musically or lyrically, Don’t Trust Me just embraced how dumb it is with its strange songwriting choices that gave us some of the most quotable lines in popular music, perfect example of accidental genius
I think he already did Iyaz
SHAYNE WARD!
As soon as I read Olly Murs my ears got PTSD. 😖
life was good when his song down came out
Yess the nostalgia!!!
Compete 180
It sure was !
it was playing everywhere, I thought I was gonna be sick..
big up jay Sean! fun fact he randomly came to my school during our lunch break and performed to us kids in the school hall when I was 11 years old back in 2005 aha... still to this day I remember him saying to us 'I'm an Asian man in a white country, singing black music! live your dreams everyone you can do anything!' underrated artist he deserves more praise, it was super difficult in the UK Scene back then for artists like him.
'Down', 'Ride It', 'Eyes on you', 'Stolen' are still awesome even in 2021.
Jay Sean should totally make new songs that sound so 2000s in the way of these gems!
🎉maybe was so good
*Aah I remember him back in the day, his “down” song was such a banger!*
Getting middle school vibes
Absolutely BANGER!!!
Yessir!
Yep the song of my binge drinking in the club during college..
He could be great at modelling tho,,, he's handsome
I agree, he's very good looking
That what I was thinking
Nah ASmericA IS declined and collapsed and however sinked
he was... he doesn't look like that anymore....
Acha Chocha 😂
The coolest and most useless fact about jay Sean is that he’s actually a trained medical doctor! His parents weren’t happy he wanted to pursue music so he did medicine to make them happy and went on do follow his dream. Paid off, two songs and he’s minted for life lol
That’s so cool
I thought he studied it for 2 years
@@Sam-ng3ofyes he dropped out of medical school but was a smart student
Y’all just be saying anything. He went to med school for 2 years and then when some of his music blew up he switched gears. He is not an MD and does not have a PhD, although he’s very smart and could if he wanted to. Factually though, he dropped out of med school in 2003
I’m Hispanic. When I was a kid, it was great and inspiring seeing a person of color like me on top. ❤️
I feel this too❣
Everything IS about race, I don’t know why y’all say “stop making everything about race” when that’s precisely what the world is built off and just shoves black people and other BIPOCs issues down the drain and continues to feed white supremacy.
@@bmwjourdandunngoddess6024 exactly these racist white people noticing us people of colour embracing our culture and taking the spotlight off white people in the media and as soon as we call out their racism “stop making everything about race” when the society we live in is based off the suffering of people of colour

Race matters… good or bad…it matters. Jay Sean inspired many people from his ethnic background and others.
Down by jay sean and his song w nicki will never be forgotten.
I literally just listened to 2012 yesterday 😭
I was shook after finding out he was british indian n his real name was kamaljeet singh jhooti just i thought he was mixed
how does he look mixed lol

It’s really scaring me that I was singing “Down” earlier today in my ahead.. 😮😭
I never heard of him
@@myrevengeee5499 Wait forreal?✨Destiny✨
@@melanatedforever you probably knw his song "Down"
You guys remember Natalie La Rose? she sang "Somebody" with Jeremih in 2015. It was peaked at #10. And next she released "Around The World" with Fetty Wap and it was flopped. Somebody was great, Around the world is the elevated state of Somebody and it flopped. She had the chance to be the more successful mode of Tinashe. Or maybe Normani. But she just vanished after Around The World flopped.
Seriously, music industry is weird
I thought that follow up song and tone was so different from the first.
Jay Sean went from #1 and having Justin Bieber fanboy over him in a dressing room, to disappearing.
There are theories that she is the reincarnation of Aaliyah? 💀😳
Yes I loved her
What happened to Colby O’ Donnis? He should have risen with lady gaga since they sang Just dance. But he disappeared
He was also on Akon’s video beautiful!

Right? Took me all the way back 🤣
I remember as a young teen being absolutely amazed by the Rishi rich project and Jay Sean for introducing underground the UK scene to Asia through their interpretation and I harboured the biggest crush on Jay Sean. I would be so happy to listen to anything he would put out and it would always be a banger❤️
When I listen to Down, it feels like my senior year of high school during P.E., lunch breaks, yellow school bus rides (this song was a radio hit playing on every station), school dances and prom night.
Natalie, or me it was university grad. i found my old 2008 ipod buried somewhere in the basement and i had his album in the playlist
I haven't thought about him in years. 'Down' was a solid bop, though.
Besides “Down” and “Ride It” Jay Sean has other songs that are actually not bad, I recently listened to his My Own Way album and I’ve been hooked ever since..
👍🏾
yeah tht album was good n I had it on repeat in 2011 even
he still drops absolute bangers. nothing happened to him
I had no idea what he looked like or that he was South Asian lol I was aged out of pop when he came out but I remember Down
How does someone age out of pop? Wut?
@@REDnBLACKnRED I'm 30. It just happens unless you're actively invested.
@@nikmariealex Spilled holy water!
@@REDnBLACKnRED I outgrew most pop when I was about 13, hearing Linkin Park in 8th grade opened a whole new world of music for me, a world I never left and just got deeper and deeper into that rabbit hole, to the point where I even did a full 180 on deathcore (A genre I mocked for the longest time, especially in my early days as a rock/metal fan)
@@finnmckentyslanderaccount409 you didn't outgrow pop, you discovered your taste in music.
This man's music has literally been fantastic for as long as I can remember. I first heard Stay like 12 years ago, saw it on BritAsia on the TV.
If you want to hear his better tracks, I recommend Who the hell is Kamaljit, Jameson, Cry, Why Cry, Stay, Maybe, and the Hindi albums fucking smack 🤩
You always be givin me the content I want but too short 😭😭😭

Can you do a bid on Craig David next...he’s sort of in the same category as jay Sean in terms of heitgeist sounds from the early 2000s
Oh I love 💕 him!
Man 7 days is still my song
Craig David had a huge first album success but couldn't repeat that success with his next albums but they still have many great songs ...

It's good to see that someone went independent successfully and came then back to full stardom with a new label. Wow
I still absolutely love his music.
Ride it....I can't get enough of that tune.
Yesss!!
When he first came on the scene back in the early 2000s, he was such a novel artist for us in India. Mixing R&B/Pop with Hip Hop and Indian music. His music was instantly one of my favorites throughout the decade.
I finally got a chance to see him Live in Bangalore in 2019! He still sounded fantastic! ❤️🔥
I still get alllll the feels listening to “Do you remember” and “I’m all yours”. Bops fr
i went to his concert a few years back and mans literally played down four times in a row - it was acc a lot of fun and he even played a to-be-released song the day before it was supposed to be released and he did an encore for down (again) even tho he didn't have to lmaooo
all his songs are bangers tbf so it was a great concert, i hope he releases more catchy songs rlly
He came to my school a few years ago and played down 3 times 😭💀

I'm glad you're talking about Jay Sean, Jay Sean is MY FAVORITE artist hands down and very underrated!
He didn’t sell his soul, point blank period. Y’all should know how this works by now.
Don’t know why but every winter I listen to Down, it’s a good song but I associate it with cold weather
It's so weird that you upload this now because just this week I was making a throwback list with 2009-2012 songs and I was listening to a lot of songs of him.
That transition into the NORDVPN ad-read was smooth!
Been waiting for a video like this
He is not at all lost bro. Correct urself. He has made an huge impact . He made his mark and is torch bearer for south asians like us . He is still releasing amazing music. If u r a real fan then u know .
I love the 'Ride It' Regard version. I didn't know it was Jay Sean. Great video.
Very informative thank you!
Down, Do You Remember and Bottoms Up are still my favorite
Funny fact, Jay Sean went to the same University as me (quite a few years before me, though) and was a medical student. The medical school of the uni is the top in London and one of the biggest and most respected medical schools in the country.
He wouldn’t be an Indian kid if he didn’t at least get into medical school lol
dude visited my school when I was younger😭 then I was so confused cos I thought he was just some random guy, and he made write it back then. Then in year 6 this guy was on a song with lil Wayne, and all my classmates where confused cos he visited there school, but prior to that song, we didn't really know who he was. massive w to him though fr, at least he made money for the time being
A lot of our frosh artists were hip hop tenors, just look at how we came across Mario Vazquez, Shawn Desman, Frankie J, Karl Wolf, Darin, Colby O' Donis and the list goes on and on...
Next up has to be Boys Like Girls, I mean the dudes got a string of radio hits (especially a certain song you couldn’t “Escape” if you turned on the radio in 2007) and even had a collab with Taylor Swift and then Just disappeared, basically the late 2000s’ Fun.
For suree wonder what happened to them omg
@@xryxix i know one of the members (i think the singer?) has been keeping himself busy writing a lot of major radio hits for other pop stars.

ride it is such a huge bop, i still listen to this song on regular
His “ride it” was covered by some DJ in 2020 and I heard it on the radio. Took me back to my freshman year, 2008/2009
