As per an article in The Express Tribune by a senior and well known and respected authority on economy Mr Shahbaz Rana the Pakistani PM is going to China on his regular pilgrimage to request China to reschedule a loan of 15.4 billion dollars plus interest for their energy projects till the year 2040. The main reason for the rising energy and electricity charges in Pakistan is the Capacity payment charges which Pakistan has committed to pay to China whether Pakistan uses the generated electricity or not and China is least bothered if there are line losses or poor bill recovery issues as long as they get their money back with interest. The fact is that China has got its fingers round Pakistan's throat and no Pakistani is willing to accept it. In the near future Pakistan should consider Gawadar as gone to China just like they did with the Hambantota port in Sri Lanka.
