Can never write off the All Blacks, as an Irish man I know this painfully well. While I agree with the guys here about the good performance from the ABs, the Boks are a different beast entirely. You will not get any time on the ball, they chase everything, they smash everything. If you do get parity with them in the collisions then you have to take every point on offer. You get in their 22, you better get points. Shut down their wings and stop their maul, they haven't showed any other way to score tries, apart from turnover ball, unless Mr Brown's genius starts coming out more you can keep them from getting over the try line. Strike plays off set piece will be big here. Best of luck!!

Totally agree with him on the weight concept. Its not about the actual weight, it how they make use of their weight that gives them a BIG effect on the field. One of the reasons i dont take note of the scrum weights too much. Most cases the bok pack is lighter than opponent packs. It how they scrum that gives them super duper powers

Parsons, give credit where credit is due, Bro. Back in the days the All Blacks was dominating the game with a two man squad, they also took advantage of the last 20min of the game.
Remember, all international teams have brilliant players and gone are the days of beating any team in the first half, even if you got a good lead, the other team will come back to either close the gap or come to win.
So, the game has evolved, and the team who can and has the players with both hard and talent combined will find a way to make it or break the finish line, although it doesn't need to be pretty, a win will matter for which ever team are taking their chances, and believes in their game plan and playing abilities.

Thank you for your insightful explanation of the game's finer points. It's a missed opportunity that a deeper understanding of tactics and strategies isn't more widely promoted. Formula 1's success in engaging fans through technical content demonstrates the value of such initiatives. Rugby's tactical and strategic elements are not as daunting as they might seem, and their exploration could significantly enhance fan engagement.

I think Australia rugby is under huge pressure because of rugby league. It's simpler so more people get into it faster. I think part of opening up the game to larger audiences comes down to the complexity of the scrum. What if you put censors in the forwards' shoulder pads and show pressure points in real time? This would 'gamify' it a little making it more interesting, but we might also start to see patterns in who started pushing first, what happened just before a collapse etc. Please let me know what you guys think 😊

I think if the All Blacks can squeak one test you’d consider it a successful fortnight away. The Saffers have had the wood on us for at least a couple years. Not a huge gap but the Saffers have had a slim margin, they have good discipline, are the fittest they’ve ever been and their bench is probably the best it’s ever been too.

As an AB fan I am a little concerned. Traditionally, we would find another gear in the last 20min of the game, and bury teams. These days, however, we seem to struggle to put points on teams in the 2nd half. Game 1 against Arg, we put 20 points on them in the 1st half, and only 10 in the 2nd half. In game 2, we put 35 points on them 1st half, and only 7 in the 2nd half. The Boks have world cup winning defense, and they don't give away points.

It will make the loss in the final last year a lot more palatable (albeit not fully edible). The ABs have come to South Africa with one goal in mind. Beat SA in both tests...Fullstop! The Boks are a formidable opponent, always physical and toughest playing on their own turf. They are, however, also startlingly inconsistent, instinctively conservative in their tactics, and entirely beatable. The question is, or should be, do the All Blacks possess the squad to tackle the Boks in key areas: set piece and defense will be key, as will respect for possession and intelligent game management. Concerningly, all of these areas were noticeably shaky in the two tests against England and the first test against Argentina.

My question for this week: with all this talk of the Springboks having got a leg up on us by joining the Northern H club competitions - what if there was a way we could do the same? Like, we're too far away to do what SA have done fully. But what about creating a "NZ Warriors"-like club side that was based in France fulltime, but affiliated with NZR like the Super clubs are? Then any NZ players that wanted to get exposed to NH rugby could opt to play for that club, but still be picked for the ABs. Would allow us to get exposure to top NH competitions, build the NZ rugby brand, and be at least a partial solution for the overseas player dilemma. Also another side to build depth for the NZ player pool. Could even be bankrolled by a wealthy Frenchman who loves the ABs, who knows...

The All Blacks are still vulnerable and still hasn't shown a great ability to conquer the rush defence. South Africa are masters in that area and they can choke the life out of their opponents. The kicking game from the All Blacks will have to be extremely accurate as well as their exit. Conquering the Springbok pack will require moving those big forwards around on the field. The All Blacks can't afford to make a mistake

That’s practically what Ardie Savea said. Anything less is sacrilegious! Red Card you’re oFF! Otherwise keep up the good work Ross & team. I wouldn’t want to see anyone else putting on your jumper Ross. Do you penance, oranges on Saturday, Jerseys Saturday evening. Keep the Faith.

Safrica has so much talent, don't think the rugby world fully gets it yet, that game against the abs at Twickenham the model, we can play more and more expansive as we go on, and not only will be have the best forwards in the world, but we will have far and away the most creative and athletic backline in the world . Called it since Twickenham and this bok era going to be around a while when u look at the talent and school boy rugby, plus as ever growing talent pool with more black and coloured kids getting turned on to the game and showing crazy flair and skills

A double loss for AB's. The 1st game Boks win 15-20 points, 2nd game Boks win 7-10 points. The Boks are more fitter, resilient and stronger with 3 game plans and a bench that impacts
the game. AB's have no game plan, no focus and only play for 60mins and a bench that makes no impact

In most top level high impact sport a key is to neutralize the oppo strength. For the Bok's they have a big tough pack, so the AB's have to prepare with superior match fitness and run the Boks ragged. The mental game comes in, because to run the world's best ragged you end up exhausted yourself.

AB more than capable than beating Boks(coming from a Bok fan) . Unfortunately, Erasmus is rather stubborn when it comes to selection. He has not picked the best possible team .Sure this team can beat the AB but they have some serious weaknesses in personal (Libbock, Moerat, lack of a 3rd choice hooker to name but a few) . There are SA players in Europe that could and should have been picked . (Tyrone Green )Nonsensical selections are weakening the potential of this Bok team. However, if the AB's discipline lets them down again and they get punished for it they will lose heavily as they did prior to the WC. The Boks have yet to "click". When they do it will be something monstrous, I fear. Pity about some stupid selections. Unfortunately politics plays a role in the Bok selection strategy. No other team needs to go through that shit in world rugby.

    • @coatknight
      @coatknight 23 дня назад

@solethesis haha, good point. That is more of an anomaly, which happens now and then between these teams. The top 4/5 is really tight and not much between them. It is good for world rugby. Ireland has really replaced Oz though.
It would be great if Oz and Wales can be more competitive but both those countries have a lot of foundational issues with their rugby.
Scotland perhaps the same but for the moment at least, it has a good crop of players. Scotland may need a 3rd professional team to really become competitive on a consistent basis. However, where will it get those players from.
South Africa is finally realizing its potential, despite the years of political interference and pressure, and also while the country is imploding economically and structurally. Joining the Euro comps has been a shot in the arm for them.
Happy for the Island teams, but sorry for the Argentinians.
Regarding that Twickenham test, I don't think the Boks were too bothered by what the final scoreline would be, they were on a mission to destroy the ABs after that first test in NZ. Cards and 50/50 decisions for a change happened to all favor the Boks with devastating consequences for the ABs. It did the ABs a favor in tightening up for the WC but in the end, their discipline still cost them.
I reckon the same might befall the Irish the next time they meet the Boks after the last test in Durban. Only saving grace for the Irish may be the long wait until their next test.
