5:22 I like to believe after elyse booth died, the crystalisks became hostile. Kind of like a baby wolf who lost its mom to hunters, they started to attack anything on site.
Yeah and judging by how big blue got when we get to the crater where sanctuary was I bet blue was the queen and when elyse met her, she saw her as a friend but when she died she saw the others as a threat
Always thought of Dahl as 'that ghost of companies past' since ya never really run into current Dahl employees but the remnants and bandits left behind.
Something I haven't seen mentioned is the chip above Axton's left eyebrow. The skeleton cosmetic shows it's part of the bone, and a similar one is on Colonel Zarpedon. It's possible they're rank identifiers similar to uniform Chevrons irl, but it could also be ID chip of sorts. Just a little something I barely get seen mentioned.
It's probably a steel tattoo implanted it's a rank in the military you would use irl idk which rank cause I'm not in the military but it wasn't a super high one but a higher one high enough for axton to have a turret
Honestly, dahl weapons are relly good in borderlnads 3, specially the legendary ones..hopefully we meet someone from the dahl corporation in BL4, that'd be fun
@@plinkbink not really, the inclusion of dahl in pre sequel was as much as how atlas was technically the antagonist in The original borderlands, on the other hand, maliwan and atlas in bl3 had a proper corporate war where the owners were quite literally, fighting for there company
What I've noticed about Dahl is that their military command structure is kind of strange. Zarpedon was a colonel but she commanded a legion while Hector was also a colonel but he commanded only a brigade. I know that they game's creators don't care about proper military designations but it would be nice to have some order in it.
I wish they were the main antagonist borderlands 3 like Atlas and Hyperion, it feels much more rewarding to fight a militarized faction at the end of the game, not a crazed cult made up of mutated psychopaths led by two psychopathic sirens.

DAHL is my least favorite weapon company for there burst fire (I use Iron sights a lot). Both there Assault and Sniper rifles I have personal problems with them while there Pistols and SMG's are okay when hitting the targets critical spot. Kind of wish that they gave them a burst fire shotgun since that was a thing in the first game.
I don’t like their weapons all that much either, the snipers are okay but I’d rather have a Maliwan one. The rest of the weapons I don’t really like (except the hornet). A burst shotgun would be cool, sledges shotgun in bl2 would be the closest I think.
Of course Dahl is going strong as a megacorp. All the time they were hunting for vault, they earned money by mining and other ventures. "Don't put all your eggs in one basket". Atlas on other hand sent primarily a mercenary military force (expensive venture by itself) to gamble on finding the vault. You see how it went with them in the end.
They are a mercenaries and mining company first, vault hunting second. They don't have a lack of products or customers. Vault hunting business is kinda a bottleneck because if you don't get the vault you don't get the product. And if you don't have the product you have nothing to sell. Even Hyperion fared better than Atlas because at least they still have the mining industry to fall back to.
Just like Vladof has Russian/Soviet vibes, to me Dahl always had German vibes. Not only is the name Dahl similar to some German words (e.g. Stahl meaning steel) but one of their main battle gunships is "Raum-Kampfjet Mark V" and "Raum-Kampfjet" means "space combat jet [aircraft]" in German.

For almost a decade now, I wondered how the hell Lilith phaselocked an entire city let alone why it had a big ass engine beneath it. It never occured to me that it was just a big ass drilling rig. I never played BL1 but knew Dahl was a conglomerate super corporation; so this never striking me in thought is just making me mad salty now. Also I never noticed Big Blue played fetch, and subsequently crying now as I've talked. Soooo much mad shit during the fights and i feel really bad now.
Their best invention is the sabre turret which automatically restores itself and returns to you like a pet it's immortal it can be delt with but not for long
to be honest, on one of the side-missions on borderlands 2, Harchek was total corporate bitch, the only thing she cared about was extracting the crystals off the crystalisks, despite security officer Booth's suggestions and warnings, but at least Harchek got what she deserved in the end.
Personally, ive always liked dahl weapons. They may not be as flashy as a maliwan or as powerful as a jakobs, but they get the job done and are solid, reliable and simple to use. No gimmicks, no fancy stuff; just a solid, well rounded gun that can put lead down range accurately and controllably while still having enough ounch to hurt.
My XB1 sadly died a few weeks back so until I can sort the funds for a new/better one I dug out the old XB360 slim, blew the dust off it and fired it up. I have been finding preowned games for dirt cheap on disk and basically for about £5 I got Borderlands 2 GOTY edition - the double disk set that has the game and another disk with Captain Scarlett Pirate Booty / Torgue's Campaign of Carnage / Hammerlocks Big Game Hunt / and Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep - as-well as other stuff like shift codes, skins and character unlocks. I already own the base game on digital download so I paid £5 for the add-on disk. Years ago I played through this game but I didn't take the time to properly appreciate it fully - I was either using matchmaking to team up with randoms who just turbo speed-run through everything while nabbing the loot on the way, or then using save editors to mod my save so I could play solo but this method took the whole challenge out of the game making it boring. Once I had the ability to add any gun/shield/abilities to my loadout the excitement and rush of getting loot drops just went. So this time around, I completely restarted the game and went into it with a clean slate - no save editing, no coop, fully grinding and finding loot to beat each encounter! I have found a new love for the backstory, the lore, the characters and missions. I have been doing a few hours each day with Axton and am level 20. The satisfaction and rewarding feeling I have got from working to level up and gear up then beating a big encounter solo is something I haven't experienced for a long time in many years of gaming. This game is old I know but it is epic and massively under-rated. I plan to get TPS and BL1 to fill in the gaps of the story because I think aside from the quirky humour and the shooter element of the game I really love to learn about the lore and back story of everything, like finding echo recordings with snippets of borderlands history on. So I find myself craving more intel, and came across your videos, I started with Axton's history video you did about his time with the Dahl military and his relationship with a commanding officer, and also learned how he got his Sabre Turret! absolutely amazing and has made my experience playing him as a character that little bit more interesting now! Anyway thanks for these snippets of Borderlands lore and history, I plan to watch them all at some point! Sorry for the life story

Honestly it's a wonder Dahl hasn't been completely routed by the other corporations at this rate, considering they have quite literally taken Ls at every turn. So far they have: - Failed to adequately prepare for or counter the hostile fauna on Pandora. - Caused a planetwide disaster on Elpis through overly aggressive mining - Lost arguably one of their best Soldiers (Axton), who later became a well-known celebrity - Completely _pussed out_ at Pandora when the Crimson Lance were coming, and not only abandoned nearly everyone there but subsequently released all the prison laborers - Caused the Crystalisks to become hostile to humans as well, adding yet another hazard to Pandora - Sent an expedition to Xylorgos and killed a Vault Monster, only for said Vault Monster to use its post-mortem psychic influence to corrupt the team and basically shutter the whole operation And that's just what we know so far. Who knows what other Ls they've suffered or will suffer in the future. Frankly when BL4 rolls around I really wanna see Dahl get their asses handed to em somehow, especially by Axton, no less.
You kinda skiped over Col. Zarpedon ... I would have like to hear more about her. Dhal are ... strange for a MegaCorp. While their leadership may often seem evil, or stupid, or evil AND stupid, their average workers and soldiers seem to be very professional.
Like in Borderlands 2, every traps Hyperion threw at you was from Jack who singlehandedly planned everything. In presequel, it looks like every tricks Dahl came up with were from their low rankings officers, they didn't need a genius from the top to tell them how to do it.
What about the history of hyperion? (I have all the games but haven't played/gotten the first game, but my siblings explained the main parts of it. So sorry if it's explained already.)
BL2 had the perfect mix of serious moments like this and comedy. I think the newer games lean too hard into the comedy. I feel so bad every time I kill Blue.

Dahl weapons are advertised as the most reliable tools for mercenaries. So in a sense, I say the company still stay true to their policy til this day.

Honestly it's a wonder Dahl hasn't been completely routed by the other corporations at this rate, considering they have quite literally taken Ls at every turn.
So far they have:
- Failed to adequately prepare for or counter the hostile fauna on Pandora.
- Caused a planetwide disaster on Elpis through overly aggressive mining
- Lost arguably one of their best Soldiers (Axton), who later became a well-known celebrity
- Completely _pussed out_ at Pandora when the Crimson Lance were coming, and not only abandoned nearly everyone there but subsequently released all the prison laborers
- Caused the Crystalisks to become hostile to humans as well, adding yet another hazard to Pandora
- Sent an expedition to Xylorgos and killed a Vault Monster, only for said Vault Monster to use its post-mortem psychic influence to corrupt the team and basically shutter the whole operation
And that's just what we know so far. Who knows what other Ls they've suffered or will suffer in the future.
Frankly when BL4 rolls around I really wanna see Dahl get their asses handed to em somehow, especially by Axton, no less.

Dhal are ... strange for a MegaCorp. While their leadership may often seem evil, or stupid, or evil AND stupid, their average workers and soldiers seem to be very professional.
Like in Borderlands 2, every traps Hyperion threw at you was from Jack who singlehandedly planned everything. In presequel, it looks like every tricks Dahl came up with were from their low rankings officers, they didn't need a genius from the top to tell them how to do it.

BL2 had the perfect mix of serious moments like this and comedy. I think the newer games lean too hard into the comedy. I feel so bad every time I kill Blue.
