[from our Memento Box]는 “우리가 함께하고 있는 모든 소중한 순간을 ‘Memento Box’ 안에 담았다”는 의미를 가진 앨범으로, 프로미스나인과의 뜨겁고 눈부신 여름날의 기억을 만끽할 수 있는 앨범이다.
타이틀곡 ‘Stay This Way’는 해 질 무렵 ‘즉흥 여행’을 떠나면서 시작되는 이야기로, 매일 반복되는 일상에서 벗어나 여행을 떠나 도착한 ‘여기’에서 매일 일요일처럼 파도소리에 몸을 맡기고픈 마음을 표현한 곡이다. 그동안 밝은 에너지가 넘치고, 가슴 벅차오르는 감정을 끌어내는 명곡들로 사랑받았던 프로미스나인은 서머송 ‘Stay This Way’로 시원한 바닷바람과 꿈만 같은 시간을 만끽하며 함께 떠난 즉흥 여행의 묘미에 흠뻑 빠져들게 한다. ‘프로미스나인=여름’ 공식을 단번에 성립시키며 찌든 무더위와 월요일마다 찾아오는 피로감을 시원하게 날려 준다.
The newly released 5th mini-album alludes to the ‘Memento Box,’ referring to the group’s wish to collect all of their beautiful moments into one medium, which they can share with their listeners. from our Memento Box is a lovely compilation of five tracks rich with joyful memories of dazzling summer days.
“Stay This Way,” the lead single of from our Momento Box, opens with an impromptu trip amid the sunset. The song expresses one’s desire to break free from the dull days and embark on a journey to paradise where you can fully indulge the sound of the waves. fromis_9 will once again sweep listeners off their feet by presenting a place of refreshing comfort and joy with their uplifting summer track “Stay This Way.”

This MV feels different. Most of the scenes were the members faces and them posing for the camera.
While I've been seeing some complains online about that (the lack of creativity), the unsatisfactory colour grading and that they could've done with some other sets and better sceneries, I personally feel that the direction they went with in the MV is a specific choice. And I'm starting to understand it, and love it.
Here are my thoughts: Its a memento box. And the reel in the beginning shows that they use film cameras to record their memories to be put in their memento box. Most of the time, people treasure moments by taking pictures of their loved ones, or the people they are traveling with as a form of keepsake. Something to look back to from a trip or event. To me, that explains the significant emphasis towards the stills and shots of our girls posing for the camera (plus every scene is just screaming gf vibes). Its supposed to be a memento box. Each picture taken brings back memories of the time you spent with the person there, wherever it is that you went with them.
fromis_9 has always had that sentimental nuance in their expression of music, and this, to me, is a very unique way of conveying that. It really went in line with their concept this time albeit summery, but the album says from our memento box. Each memento is supposed to bring to mind memories and nostalgia of the event and throughout the MV, we see that the memory each memento represents are the members themselves. Flovers know that the members love each other as family and Saerom even mentioned that fromis_9 is a valuable memory and part of her 20s, this sentiment really rings throughout the MV; for this part of their lives to "Stay this way", but as it isn't possible, it could at least be something for them to look back to from their memento box.
The lackluster colour grading many are talking about could be an attempt to replicate film camera pictures. Adding that layer of nostalgia and bittersweetness of looking back at something you experienced and miss. It's an aesthetic choice, to say.
Tldr: I dont think they missed with the MV, just that their artistic direction is different.

being a flover is hard... so many long breaks in between comebacks. i thought things would get better when hybe acquired pledis. it's hurtful to see people mention only newjeans and lesserafim when it comes to "hybe gg." but how can people know about the existence of fromis_9 when they don't even release music consistently? ☹️

Gyuri didn't resign since Aug, 2021 so everything done since Talk & Talk was with that knowledge 😭. Saerom and the girls working hard to get 3 comebacks without taking a break and pushing to have a fan meet concert before Gyuri's contract ended. 😭 OT9 forever ♥️

I'm so happy because not a lot of people knows Saipan but they filmed there and it literally looks so pretty from the way they did this MV. Very boring song. Chaeyoung looks much older than her actual age. Jisun and Siyeon both look like they've been through centuries and got older than last comeback. Nagyung 's hairs are too short to be beautiful. Jiheon looks hilarious as always. Saerom is too old to shine anymore, so is Hayoung. Jiwon looks lack of beauty and charm and elegance and grace, which caused her incapability of attracting audiences. Gyuri is still ugliest as she's always been.
