The Gurkha's. The most wonderful, brave, loyal soldiers. I remember when I was quite young my Grandfather telling me that during WW2 he was on some operation with The Gurkhas. I wish I could remember the details now, but suffice it to say he had the greatest respect for them. And although he, and my other Grandfather would rarely talk about their wartime experiences (as most old soldiers from WW2 would not do) he was always glowing with his praise for these guys. Sadly I think that both my Grandfathers would now wonder what they fought for all those years ago, seeing how this country is now going - they'd be ashamed.
I used to work with an ex member of my own regiment who has served a Detachment with a Gurkha battalion in Borneo in the 1960s during the Borneo confrontation with Indonesia. His experience with them as soldiers was that when off duty they many of them were almost childish in their behaviour (aren't we all at 20 years old) and often drank too much which was very looked down upon by their Officers and Gurkha NCO's. It seemed that giving then "Extra Duties" (a typical punishment for minor infringements in the army in general) was not likely to work. So what they did was to TAKE THEM OFF DUTY. This in the eyes of the soldier was worse than any other punishment that they could get and as a result discipline was always maintained.
Thank's a lot Lenny. Today was the second time for me, that I heard Castell Coch. Sounded better now. The Engineer in Chief sounded, well a little bit strange. I don't know what kind of Engineer the Engineer in Chief is. I assume a military one? Reminds me about the 1960-ies when I did my conscript service at an engineer regiment in Sweden. At that period we used US surplus Bailey bridges. So I was a sapper. Heavy stuff and everything was manual. Now back to reality, thank you for a very good recording and a good editing with the sound from two sources/cameras added to the final video without any interruptions but with seamless transitions. Good Night!
Good afternoon! The Fantastic "Speedy" Gurkhas are amazing, Brigade and Band!! They reach the Castle in few minutes!😀 Just a little question, please: why does nobody film what happens inside the Castle, the Changing Guard there? It would be nice and interesting to see. Sorry, thank you for this lovely video.
@@steveellis9065 Thank you, Sir, for your reply. So, we home- viewers have to leave our armchair, fly to Windsor and pay the ticket to see the Changing Guards inside the Castle and visit it.🙂 Well, I hope next year!! Thanks.
Nothing to do with cut backs, people forget the guards regiments are operational troops. When they are deployed it is always nice to see different areas of the British or even commonwealth armed forces get invited to provide the royal guard.

Good show! Always a pleasure to watch the Gurkha Engineers in a parade or moving to/from their barracks.

There are videos of the Windsor castle guard change but unlike at Buckingham palace where it is free access to the castle is £20 - £30

My country can take lessons in tradition from The British.
What is a GURKHA
Why would engineers be required to carry arms. The officers allways represent the gurkhas well but isn't about time there was a gurkha officer.
when you see sappers doing public duties it just shows how far cut backs have gone
