Had the exact same comment. I keep a food grade spray bottle filled from my filter pitcher. Mist the rice and stir, do it again and it's ready to reheat. I can use it for the microwave, although I typically use a double boiler on the stove unless I'm in a big hurry. It's also good to lightly mist leftovers before you wrap them in foil. You can pop them in the toaster oven to reheat and they aren't dried out. That would probably work with plastic wrap or a plastic container in the microwave, too.
Two things: 1) When you eat rice regularly, your whole life, you can build a tolerance to that bacteria 2) Frankly, most Asian countries have easier access to higher quality (therefore safer), rice (and also eggs and fish). Western countries tend to have access to healthier red meat though.
This all depends on the density of your freezers ability to. Ice out of my small refrigerator/freezer melts thoroughly while reheating my rise. Yet the ice cubes out of my larger freezer don't melt. PS. Make sure you are using great quality water to make your ice. If you use tap water or store bought water it can leave a weird taste after reheating.
Just wet a paper towel and use to cover your rice as you microwave... or just get a rice cooker/warmer like every other Asian person... though we finish our rice daily.
@@jonathanj.jimenez9031 they might’ve meant complete protein? I don’t know the exact science behind it but I’ve read when you eat rice in addition to beans, it becomes a “complete protein”, containing all 9 essential amino acids which our bodies can’t produce on their own
Once I was in the middle of eating a rice dish and got called into work for a couple of hours. When I got home I realised I had left my meal in a sealed container but just on my table. Didn't think anything of it, nuked it for 5-6 minutes, and ate it. Spent that same night trying to sleep on the bathroom floor because of how often I was throwing up I wouldn't make it back into my bedroom before needing to vomit again. That "throw out after 2 hours" isn't just overcautiousness, its the real deal people.
So....after all that, is the rice covered or uncovered once the ice cubes are put on the rice? I'm assuming not. Just like you don't cover the wet paper towel.
It seems like many of the cautions I've seen about reheating food involve our old friend , The Microwave Oven. My poor, lonesome microwave sits atop the refrigerator and comes to life occasionally to heat liquids or bake a potato. I have never reheated rice in it. I always rinse and soak my rice prior to cooking, but It doesn't take as long as beans, so maybe smaller batches will be better.
Use fork to poke holes in baking paper lying on top of metal steamer basket. Put cold leftover steamed rice on baking paper to steam. After scooping out the reheated rice, discard the baking paper that has rice stuck to it. Less scrubbing and cleaning on steamer basket.
Dont use microwave ... all the nutrines are dead in the food its like eating a stone ... 0 nutrition inside and you will be sick in the future .. becouse your body will miss nutrition ... also the waves from the microwave can create many desies in your body .. not now .. but later in your life you will probably get cancern or tumor ...
Add a teaspoon or table spoon of water (amount of your rice) in bowl of rice to be reheated. Put a plate or saucer and cover the bowl. Microwave for a minute only. Rest for a minute

That's bull crap! I have cooked my rice and left on the stove all night to cool off. Then in the morning, I would scoop it in bowls to preserve in the fridge for lunch for the next 5 working days. They still tasted great and I am very healthy. So knock off that nonsense!
I just sprinkle some water in my rice. Same results. Same difference.
ikr!😁
exactly, a little water is all you need. i've been doing this for years
That's all i've been doing for yrs'.. it works just fine

Yep. Who needs an ice cube? Just a sprinkle of water will do.
I've been living in Asia for over a decade they leave the rice in a rice cooker throughout the day and nothing goes bad.

That's how I've always done it.
This is the easiest way. I always do this.
Rice and beans = A perfect protein.
Nope
What is a perfect protein? Lol
The beans are the protein, the rice is carbs.

rice+beef = way better

3:20. For no ice cubes
"Spies like us"...I like that movie. I haven't seen it in a long time.

I always reheat food on stove but i guess some prefer microwave. To each its own

I do not like nor use microwaves.

An ice cube in middle of the rice? How long should it be microwaved?
Ok but doesn’t water boil faster than ice?
Do you cover the rice with a lid while microwaving it?
Foods in microwave should be covered

As an Asian, im ashamed i didnt know this hack 😐
You have leftover rice?
Rice and pasta cooked absorb water take the water away and it goes back to original state,Guess you never herd of rice pudding!
Niece and nephew, everyone knows that you can't reheat rice without putting it in the fridge. Haiyaa...
Add a teaspoon or table spoon of water (amount of your rice) in bowl of rice to be reheated. Put a plate or saucer and cover the bowl. Microwave for a minute only. Rest for a minute
I just put a dampened paper towel over the bowl.
I put a wet paper towel on top of everything I reheat in the microwave :)

I spray the cooked leftover rice with water and then microwave it, so it doesn't dry out!
When you don't have a microwave
For fuck sake, why is this 4 minutes?!
Just put water on it genius
Reheating rice is apparently a major health risk due to the growth of bacteria.
You forgot to say how long, how high, if it should be covered or uncovered. As is right now this video is pretty useless. Thanks.
I can't get through this video. It is so obnoxiously produced

Cool tip. Annoyingly long video. Patronizing tone.
Who knew?
I was always told you’d shouldn’t reheating rice?
You just have to reheat at a high temperature
I was looking for how to reheat rice. Not exactly a documentary on why the ice cube didn't melt 😮
Tell that to India 😂
Well, there’s a good chunk of wasted time. So I won’t waste any more words.
These westerners don't know nothing on cooking rice 😂
so your saying you don't know either??
@@stevewixom9311 I'm Asian so....
For goodness sakes, Some people.
Refrigerated rice gives people a fermented smell after eating.
so does kimchi
