We are still a society that's largely patriarchal. So when celebrities say we prefer a girl, it is them using their soft power to influence people and setting an example that girl babies must be celebrated. Obviously doesn't imply that a male child isn't welcome.

Siddhaarth, You cant judge her family's disappointed emotion of having a girl new baby as "conditioning". The emotion was different here cause they had lost a boy, 11 year old boy! Not every statement needs to be about feminism.
