I use the relax technique as well. I am not in an area where personal training is viable. No matter how much I read, or how many videos i watch, continuing to squeeze my back thru the release seems like it makes things less stable. So I anchor, and slowly release the tension in my hand so my release rotates and then fires. I am just a hack, but it seems to work. It was very interesting to hear someone else mention this process.
Giving folks multiple methods to perform a task is a good instruction method.
    Thank you.

Great info! I shoot an index release, and I have definitely battled target panic several times. I actually do pretty well normally, but any techniques or advice will definitely be helpful next time I start having issues.

Hi Joshua. Quick question - not really related to this video 🤔. Any suggestion on setting up a sight tape when you have limited space (20y max)?

There are a few tricks to work around setting up a sight tape but they will only get you in the ballpark of accuracy if you only have 20 yards. Typically, to hit dead on at 3 yards your sight tape will need to be moved to around where it will be at 45-55 yards, depending on speeds. This is because your using the “height over bore,” (my firearms side coming out) to manipulate your sight tape since the arrow will still be climbing in the arch that it takes to shoot at distance so you’re effectively catching it before it starts to drop.
That method is used by a lot of guys in target archery who shoot at competitions that range from 5-100 yards so they need to know their close marks, and typically they have already sighted in at distance. Like I said it will still get you in the ballpark but the best thing in all honesty is going to be to find somewhere to shoot at distance.
Hope that helps! Thanks for the comment and support!

Update: just check mine and at 3 yards I was hitting with my 47 yard mark on my sight tape, hope this helps!

@@joshuadouglasarchery Much appreciated! I checked mine and for now the three yards corresponds with exactly 50 on my tape. I will verify it when I get a chance to go to the range... Would be an interesting video for you to test these results with say 3 poundage 60;65;70 and see the results maybe? Not so many people have the space to shoot out to distance😁 I am currently shooting a Bowtech ss34 at 65# with a 28 DL, Easton Axis 340 spine arrow and 100gn field tip (no idea what the grains would be...)

Work on your form first. Including being in shooting shape. You must be able to draw and hold to complete a good shot cycle WITHOUT RUSHING because you aren’t in shape. Lower DW for more control? Have to retrain your brain that you CAN hit the target. Large targets like a paper dinner plate at 10-15 yards. try drawing, aiming with your eyes on the plate NOT ON THE PIN and then don’t fire. Showing your mind that you CAN let down. Showing that you DO NOT HAVE TO SHOOT . You are in control. Even say this to yourself “ I am in control”, not I am going to be in control. Do not worry where the arrow hits. Let the pin float wherever it goes and then work on finishing out the shot. You may need to move your feet so you are not forced the bow and pin toward the plate . Ideally, you want the body to be in a natural position. This will help reduce any effort for you to move your bow arm or feet after you have drawn. Working on form and getting it right will let your mind know it’s entirely possible to hit that target every shot. After many many days and you are doing great step back a few yards. You have to show yourself that you CAN shoot at distance and hit the plate. Don’t just jump back to 40 yards. Work your out slowly over many QUALITY ONLY shots. Remember, if the shot cycle from the beginning doesn’t feel smooth and controlled LET DOWN. You don’t want go ahead and fire. Start over. Step one!
