Trần Sơn , I am trying to learn Hebrew by myself too. It is really difficult to find Hebrew speakers in my area to practice with and very hard to find books to learn Hebrew from. The U.S.A. doesn't have a lot of Hebrew speakers, or Jewish people who speak modern Hebrew, but I can probably soon find someone to practice with.

I have a few tips for you. If you don't already use Duolingo, give it a try.
This website is a great help in learning root words and how to conjugate them: www.pealim.com/
Just type in a word, and you'll get a table like this (using the Hebrew word for "continue" here): www.pealim.com/dict/1110-lehamshich/
Also, listen to Israeli music, watch Israeli broadcasts, etc. Some music videos have a translate option (click CC)
      Two examples:
      ruclips.net/video/cRGrIn2VHTE/видео.html
      ruclips.net/video/t2fakms1QWo/видео.html
(Lyrics are in the description, where it says מילים, or "words"), try to translate the lyrics and see if you can follow the song. That might not do you much good until you know it better, but it might be worth a try.
Also, once you get better, try to read Israeli Hebrew-language news sites (www.ynet.co.il/home/0,7340,L-8,00.html is one example).

Apparently, modern Hebrew is a reconstructed version of the original Hebrew (since it was lost during the dispersion of Jews) and scholars used Arabic to reconstruct the language and hence the similarities are even more obvious.

      +Jose A Morales Hi Jose A Morales,
      Thank you for posting.
Not all Hebrew letters can be represented by a Latin letter - for example, the letter א, that can be either A, I, U, E or O - or even silent. The best way to learn the letters is to follow the lessons :)
      Keep enjoying Hebrew!
      Sincerely,
      Yaara

+Acácio Florentino yes. but in the basic way of it.
you can make with "א" with adding another letter to it a different sound. like "או" becomes O or U and "אי" that will become E.
but note that I only meant to the name of the letters and not to the different sounds it could make.

ALEF DOESNT MAKE AH SOUND. It makes a glottal stop like the pause in oh'oh(alef would be ' in it.THERES A MODERN HEBREW(WHICH THIS IS) AND BIBLICAL HEBREW(FOR READING THE BIBLE,BUT THERE THE SAME Language and script).Abba is a Aramaic word that made its way to Hebrew.

Actually aleph does have it's own sound. Same with ayin. Different dialects of Hebrew differ on how to create the sounds. And modern Hebrew is 95% based on biblical Hebrew.

joey143anna . Arabic and Hebrew are more similar when speaking them, not writing them. They are both semitic languages. The writing systems are a lot different. The Hebrew alphabet is a lot easier to learn, but the Arabic alphabet is easy to learn and memorize.

I must say, while the Alefbeit is easier to remember, because of the simplicity of the letters, the Arabic vowel system is easier, but that is only because the letters make far fewer sounds.

They were both similar much more similar in the past. Arabic and Hebrew were actually considered dialects for languages. Now the have become more influenced by the Romance Languages.
