Man…I feel like you have my phone bugged…all of your new videos are exactly what I am looking to purchase. Thanks for the honest feedback on the boots. I think I may purchase a pair soon. I have seen some reviews that say the Optifade Elevate II will fade pretty quickly. Hope they hold up.
Lol! You know what they say about great minds! I’ve read similar reviews about the camo fading prematurely. If that’s the case, mine won’t stand a chance with the way I use my climber. If so, I’ll definitely let you know in my follow up video. Thanks for staying in touch!
Good video. New to hunting and likely in the same area as you are! Glad I’ve landed on your video. Hopefully I can learn a ton from someone who’s been hunting in the same areas or at least the same state as I am.
Awesome! Glad to have you and thank you! I certainly hope the videos are helpful. Let me know if you have questions about anything. How long have you been hunting?
You and I were on a very similar quest to upgrade our hunting gear to Sitka last year my friend. These boots have been on my radar to replace my worn out Irish Setters, but I haven't pulled the trigger on them yet. Thanks for your reviews on all of these products! I have had the exact same thoughts and experiences with my Sitka gear!
Thanks for the feedback, JR. Much appreciated! Glad the videos are helpful! If you do purchase the boots please let me know your thoughts. Good luck this season!
Another great analysis Don. Well done! Your presentation has inspired me to purchase a pair. I currently wear the Dryshod NoSho Ultra Hunt boots. I like them a lot, but I find them to be bulky and not very flexible. When I purchased the Dryshod’s, they didn’t come in the Optifade camo pattern. However, they are warm, waterproof, and durable.
We’ll, I can’t personally attest to how well they work but I’m hoping they are well made and give me a few good years! Good luck on the purchase. Let me know what you think.
Are you going to do an after thought video on these soon I am thinking about buying a pair and I love watching your videos I just bought the fanatic system through your suggestion thank you for all your time you put in your videos.
Great video! I'll be looking forward to your follow up video. I thought about buying this boot once or twice, but just couldn't find enough reviews to convince me to purchase one. With this size 10 boot you have, do you think you can fit one or two pair of thick wool socks without the boot feeling to tight? ..Do to the fact that I normally buy a 10 1/2 size boot. I also wear it with moisture wicking socks and a thick pair of merino wool socks.. I know that having a small air pocket in your boot is good way of retaining insulation. This is the way I wear my boots for cold weather hunting.
Thank you! Personal testimonies and positive reviews are a big part of my decision making process too. I haven’t worn the boot yet in a real work application so it’s hard to say, but from my initial impression I think the boot is a bit small for double layering. 10 and a half would have been better (if it were available) and 11 likely too big. I’ll know more in a few weeks. Stay tuned.

Hey, nice overview Don! I'm looking at these boots, so I appreciate your honest impression. Do you think these are too much insulation for late spring? I think I read they were good to 40F, but wonder how they'd feel in 50-60F if you've had a chance to wear them at those temps yet. Thanks!
Definitely want some but I need more than 800g…I have some 1600g and even when it gets down to the single digits, my feet still gets cold. Wish they make these in at least 1600-1800g in this pattern
Thanks for the comment! I’ve resigned myself to the belief that no boot alone will keep your feet warm. They must be combined with something else like toe/foot warmers, heated socks or a foot blanket. In my case specifically, due to my Lone Wolf climber, I’m restricted to a boot with a toe that isn’t too large so the 1600g is out of the question, and besides that I don’t want to boot that is too heavy/bulky. Despite the boot, I expect cold feet will still be my biggest challenge this year. Good luck!
@@northofdetroitoutdoors7404 thanks for the feedback! I also run a lone wolf climber and I’ve somehow gotten away with 2000g boots before. A struggle but got away with it climbing my climber. But yes, you’re right, no boot alone will keep your feet warm, needs to be combined with something else. Thanks for the review!
@@Danyang1 Great feedback about the climber!! Plenty of guys wonder how big a boot you can get away with. I figured the boot that I have would be the biggest I could go. Apparently not! Much appreciated!!
Hi, I'm a new subscriber and this is the first time I've seen this video. Is this book okay to use in the spring or would it be a bad idea. Also, how sweaty do your feet get after a long day of hunting. I've noticed even when it is extremely cold my feet sweat in my hunting boots and I don't even have rubber boots.
Welcome!, Smooth! Glad to have you! I typically use my leather boots in the early season, But if I’m going to an area where there is lots of water I’ll use the Lacrosse boots for obvious reasons. If your feet sweat even in cold weather, using these boots in early season might be a problem for you. I’m on the opposite extreme when it comes to sweaty feet. Even in warm weather I don’t sweat a lot. Thanks for the support!
Hey Rudy, I’m going to cover these topics in my after season review. But I think the boots are 2 lbs each (still have to confirm this). I hear guys with a large calf have the most difficulty getting them off… Hope this helps.
I am looking for an "Uninsulated Boot" I live in south Florida and I want zero insulation. I thought Alphaburly made an uninsulated 18" rubber boot. Is this that boot?
No it is not. But you are correct there is an uninsulated version. In fact, I purchased the uninsulated boot by mistake and had to exchange for this one. Should be easy to find on Lacrosse website.
Hey brotha. Lone wolf just lost they're patent licensing just FYI if you rock with the D'acquistos, might want to look at the Lone Wolf Custom Gear for the future. Thanks for the video. Lacrosse Boots.... I emailed them for a discount and or donation for a Veteran. They Replied with a 10% discount. Meanwhile they are offering a 25% discount on their website and a 20% discount to OnX Elite members. So Basically they're saying a Combat Veteran is less important to them then the average consumer.
@@northofdetroitoutdoors7404 this is the second season with them. There are 2 issues I ha e with the boot. 1 they are not easy on the feet and 2 my feet get cold in them. I ha e some boots from field and stream same grain boot and they keep my feet warm. But I did recently pickup the fanatic jacket and it is by far the best purchase I have made so far. I've got the stratus bibs and am considering getting the fanatic bibs. I actually watched your fanatic video the night before I bought the jacket.
Question... Is there a size fit difference between insulated and non insulated? I wear 10.5 shoe but the non insulated size 9 fits good. Buy size 9 insulated?
That would be my recommendation. I bought a non-insulated pair by mistake and they fit the same. I returned them and bought the ones I have now. You should be fine.
