    Saw you in full Sitka gear and thought this would be a ‘review’ style commercial but this was a great review. I’ll have to check more of your content. Good luck this fall.

    My understanding is the whole boot is neoprene with hand-layed rubber over the top; that is why there's just neoprene at the top andnits probably for breathability and comfort esp with the gusset. But that's also why the non insulated rated for Mild are still 3.5mm neoprene. Hope that helps

    With the insulated boor in cold weather wear a think wool liner sock with a a plastic bag over it and then a thick wool cutter sock; inner sock will get wet, but outter sock and good insulation will stay dray and therefore your feet will stay warm.

    I am ordering now... my question is there a size difference in fit between insulated and non insulated? I wear a 10.5 but the non insulated boot in size 9 fits well. Would insulated 9 be tighter fit?

    That little strip of neoprene ain’t gonna give off enough scent to spook any deer. I’ve killed many deer without any scent prevention early season in close quarters.

    Dumb noob question. Are these for deer hunting? Any weather or season?

      Yes, I use them for deer hunting and other outdoor activities throughout the year as well

    Good review, I have an older Alpha 800 gram model rubber all the way up. Have them 10 years and still going strong. I hunt Ohio and Kentucky and use them all the time here in N. Az shoveling snow....I love them. Looking for a newer moel but that upper neoprene is a concern.....thorns...will rip the heck out of the neoprene....Ohio and Ky both areas I hunt have a bush called Multi Floral Rose and those thorns will penetrate steel. Most of the time I tuck in my pants so the neoprene will be exposed! Id have to think this one through. Thanks for the heads up

    Alex, are these comfortable when doing long hikes? Does the top of boot rub the front of your shin raw on long walks? The pair of robber boots that I have are terrible for that. Thanks

      @whitetaildna  2 года назад

      As far as rubber boots are concerned, I would say yes. I regularly will wear them for hikes over a mile and have no issue!

    Great video, Alex. Have you had any issues with leaks in the non-insulated boots that you have worn out a lot? I ask because mine in front at the ankle where it creases when walking has developed a slight opening. But I am wondering if it is because I got a bigger size than normal.

    • @alexcomstock4354
      @alexcomstock4354 4 года назад

      Thanks man! And no I haven’t had that issue at all. Getting ones that are too big would make sense though for that to possibly happen?

    I live/hunt in south Florida , I wish you mentioned the name of the boots that your feet sweated less in. I can't find for the life of me, any high rubber boot that is truly uninsulated, 400g or less that I would wear.

    Do you still recommend these boots or have you found any better? Trying to get a warm enough boot to continue hunting in December! I normally wear my regular Baffin winter boots but that's not great for scent control and in snow my feet somehow get soaked. I hate wearing big clompy men's boots but at this point just need warm, dry feet. These do look nice and I see they even go up to 1600 grams of insulation.

    • @whitetaildna
      @whitetaildna  2 года назад +1

      Yes I still have them and still wear them this time of year!

    For the price they should have a longer warranty. The outer soles come apart

      Ill have to do another video soon but if I had to make a recommendation, I would vote the aerohead sport 7mm boots now over the alphaburly

    Anybody compare these to the Muck boot as far as ease of putting on? I have wide feet and sometimes have gotten stuck or had to wrestle in and out of other boots.

      I’ve used muck in the past. Pretty comparable I’d say

    I just got the 1600’s will that be to much? Do you think the 800’s are sufficient.

    • @dylanW50
      @dylanW50 3 года назад +1

      My buddy told me the 800’s are more than sufficient for MN ice fishing. So I got 800’s and I hope his word stays true.

    How are they using a climber?

    • @alexcomstock4354
      @alexcomstock4354 4 года назад

      Hey Steven, I personally haven’t used a climber in a few years so with that said, I’d say they have good grip and I don’t see why they’d be an issue using with a climber.

    Unfortunately, rubber boots will never breathe. Others that may seem better most likely have some sort of liner that just absorbs the sweat...which we all know ends in horrendous stink. I have a pair of the aeroheads, the neoprene is mostly for comfort and adjustability. Full rubber boots flop at the top unless you have large calves and rubber lacks stretch. The neoprene can be snugged down easier and will provide some more flexibility.
