I love that you and your daughter went there just the two of you! I would have loved doing stuff like that with my dad. It allows so much time to speak good healthy things into their lives one on one. I enjoyed doing that with my son but it was only day trips.
We have never done anything like this before and really couldn't afford it but my wife said I needed to do this and that Ally would never forget it. She had a piano concert to be at so we made a whole trip out of it. Glad we went!
@@MikeKincaid79 That is a precious investment in your daughter's life, Clearly Shelly has been through that when she was a kid. You will have to plan for Emily's time in a couple of years!
Beautiful botanical gardens Mike! Thank you for taking us along with Allie and yourself 🤗🤗❤️ I would like to have a green house tall enough for papaya, mango, moringa and citrus. A few orchids will not hurt and vanilla. The colors on those cows.... beautiful! 🤗🤗 Allie grew up so much, she is turning into a young lady before our eyes 👀👀 God bless her and you all.
I know, could you imagine having something like this at your place and growing all these tropical trees in your yard! I'd be in heaven. I see Ally every day so it's hard to see the growth sometimes, but when I look at pictures, I can hardly believe how far they've come.
So true, I lived in Brazil for almost 2 years and saw some of those trees in real life. Beautiful! The fruits I ate there with the ones on the market.... have no comparison! Traveling in the spring does amaze one when you experience a totally different plant zone that is radically warmer / colder / wetter / drier / higher / lower than your own. Even places close by can be amazingly different. I'm in a cold pocket that is higher in elevation than the surrounding area, and so my trees don't leaf out until about two weeks that the city just 25 minutes away does. Other zones also produce in gardeners what I call "zone envy" - that is, a jealously that people in another zone can grow things that you can't - or at least not without radical adaptations. I think most plant lovers lust to grow plants better adapted to locations two or three zones above or below them. Like, I'm in zone 7b, and would love to be able to grow fir trees like you have. I can grow blue spruce, but they won't get very big and I must baby them in the perfect spot. I REALLY want to grow paper birch, but know they won't survive long-term (ask me why I know, LOL).
I hear ya. I'm always dreaming about building an arboretum to create a tropical greenhouse environment and grow trees and plants that I otherwise couldn't. The grass is always greener on the other side.
Mike, I'm in the Southeast - in South Carolina. But several months ago, I was in snowy, frigid Massachusetts and went to a tropical butterfly garden with all kinds of equatorial plants - it was surreal to see that there and in winter. But the desert in CA is the most different place I've been in a long time - insanely dry and very warm (January), but with palm trees in places, but snowy mountains in the distance. And I've never seen any place with so many rocks.
Yeah, you guys can use all the rain you can get. Last year in early May, we took a 2 week road trip down through California on 101. We were headed to Phoenix to see family. Our favorite part of Northern California was definitely the Avenue of the Giants. I'd been through there with my Dad and brother when I was 11 years old but didn't appreciate it as much then as I do now. I could definitely live in that area. My other favorite part of California was all the grape vineyards along 101 between San Francisco and San Louis Obispo. When we were going through there last year we couldn't believe how far ahead you guys were too, haha. It was still raining back home and cold. I'd definitely like to make that trip again in the future.
@@MikeKincaid79 LOVE the ave of the Giants! I spent alot of time on the 101 with my old job. Consider driving down the I5 and seeing a different world like Mt. Shasta and the Sierra /Cascade region. Lots of unique stops along the way. Just wait until the fall when it cools down for sure.
What an amazing garden. These giant old trees are so cool. I like the green leaf Maples a lot too. Such refreshing early color, and not as visually heavy. That Great blue heron on the roof...a pterodactyl? Lol. You crack me up.
You said it perfect, "not as visually heavy". I think that's why I like them so much, and they are very refreshing in early spring. Sure looked like a pterodactyl flying over my head, lol.
One day when the wisteria is in bloom you need to take your girls to the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle and make sure to enter through the West gate. They have a massive wisteria that covers the whole gate area, It is breathtaking. The Greenhouse in Write Park in Tacoma is lovely too!
We went there when they were babies but it's been so long that I've forgotten what kind of flora they have growing there. We go to the Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma more frequently because of the location, and we love it there. They have a ton of amazing plants and a huge rhododendron park. I do want to get back up to Seattle in the spring, as they have some nice gardens up there. I really wanted to see the cherry blossoms at UW this year but we're crunched for time right now. Isn't it funny that I had the time to go 2000 miles away to Dallas but not to go an hour north to Seattle, lol.
@@MikeKincaid79 That is how life works sometimes. Longview WA has lots of cherry blossoms on several streets. 20th southwest of Washington Way goes for at least a mile with cherry trees on both sides of the road. It's known to locals as pink snow season.
Hey, beautiful place, here are some things you saw that I thought you might be interested in knowing about: the cardinal is thestate bird of my state North Carolina, and that was a blue heron, of which we have at the pond behind our house, we have those longhorns everywhere around here and I love them, and I have 3 of those old fashioned snowball bushes and they do get big, but I love them, wow that was quite a trip, I bet Allie didn't want to go back home to the cold weather, loved this one, it was fantastic, hope you guys had fun, love to you all💖👍❣️
Love to you too, Glenda! Yeah, we had a lot of fun there. It was really neat to see the different plants, trees, and animals they have down there in Texas. Beautiful area and the people were so friendly. The city was very clean, warm, and welcoming. It was a huge shock for both of us to get off the plane back home and be in 30 to 40 degree weather with sleet and rain. We already miss it.
I'll have to go here! We've gone to the Dallas Botanical gardens...Nicest I've ever been to was Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania and Nemours Estate in Delaware.
Hi Mike, Now that's a nice place you went to. Good to see you get away from the stress, from the build . I have a million baby New England maple trees from the mother tree. I get them every year. I'll send you some if you want. Everyone around here taps them for the syrup. I like the shade they give myself. How's your house coming along, I hope the weather got better for you. Well, I'll be looking for your next video. Take care and good luck with the weather. Steve
Mike, I loved all the Chia pet animals 🐪and the sighting of a Texas pterodactyl (especially loved Ally's giggle when you said that), not something you see every day in my neck of the woods, lol! Ally will have great memories of this trip with her dad, and of the wonderful Botanical gardens you visited. Blessings to you and your sweet family, have a great weekend! ~Margie🤗👨👧🦜
Thanks Margie! We had a ton of fun and it was definitely a good bonding time. We were actually there for Ally to see here favorite pianist (Ludovico Einaudi). It was a great time with my daughter and we really enjoyed the concert. She's been playing the piano for about 2.5 years now and is really good at it. I've thought about having her play and recording the sound for my rhododendron tours.
Thanks for taking us along!! I'm with Ali, that cardinal was cool - you should do a topiary of one with your red rhodies lol. That stick work was really cool too. I just made a quick trip to FL for a wedding and picked up two Vanda orchids and a pitcher plant. The humidity won't be high enough here for another week or two so I have to baby them and mist constantly until then.
Nice reprieve from the stress of building ☺ I've been MIA but all caught up now. I'm going to Texas this summer. I will try and check this place out. Tks for sharing 🤗
It was a nice break. We're back in action on the home again and will be posting a video about the framing when all that gets done. This garden is definitely worth the visit if you're in the area. Hi Mike! Thank you for sharing! Such a beautiful place, but there's no place like home! I am going to take my grandson home in May, to Hawaii! Your video made me more excited about my trip. My son and wife know my love of plants, but probably not as much as you love plants!😊 They have plans to take me to different gardens and nurseries. I can hardly wait. They have 3 acres in Hawaii and just sent me pictures of orchids growing on their trees! I love the orchids in your video, but I would have to go much slower than you to check each orchid out! No one would want to go to the gardens with me because I'd take forever! Lol. I'm glad Allie shares your love of plants and glad you and Allie could make more special memories! Allie is really growing up fast and is beautiful. Thanks again for sharing your trip to the gardens. Best wishes on building your new home! 💜
Thanks Marcia and have fun on your trip! I've been to Oahu a couple times and love the tropical environment. I'd love to visit Kauai, as it's even more tropical and lush. Are you going to the big island?
Yes Mike, I will be visiting the big island. My son and family actually live in the rain forest. There are many different Palms on their property, 3000 plus! I am really looking forward to seeing their enormous ferns! The fronds are at least 15 feet long. They have different varieties of banana trees, mango, avocado, orange trees, coconut trees and more. They even grow their own pineapples and Dragon fruit. My son and family moved there in June, almost 2 years ago. We sure miss them, but we will be visiting them every year if our health is good. Because of our animals we can't go together, so I am taking my daughter with me. She homeschooled my grandson while he was here, so she deserves a vacation.💜🌴 They have a guest house, so that will save us a lot of money and we will be able to visit more often. My husband went last year because with his bladder cancer we thought he should visit first. Great news he is now cancer free, but he has a cancer that comes back eventually. He loved it there and wants to move. I don't like the heat, and I don't want to leave the rest of my family. I'm sure I will love all the plants and scenery, but just don't want to make the move. Take care Mike and please tell Shellie hi. Sorry, for such a long message. I haven't forgotten your Trilby Rhodedendron, just health issues have interfered. I will make it a point to get it to you after I get back from Hawaii. So sorry for such a long delay!! Best wishes to you and your family in building your dream home!!🌴💜

Oh wow! We loved your home state. The vibe is just different down there. People are proud of their city, take care of it, and everyone was super friendly. There seemed to be a massive American or Texas flag every 2 miles down the freeway. I loved it and it had a great feel. My daughter and I talked about it afterward and both agreed that the Fort Worth garden was the best. We both really liked the smaller country feel of Fort Worth but the whole DFW area was awesome!
Mike and Allie, great job with the video. Is this your first-time filming out in public, I know it's not easy to do. Hint, the teamwork helps make it. Only thing they got that you don't, hint again, sculpture and garden art. Can't wait to see your next visit to an arboretum, botanic garden or some old estate garden now turned public. I always enjoy another tour of 'The Mike Kincaid Arboretum', It's got the best rhododendron collection I've seen.
Thanks, I appreciate it. I've filmed out in public a few times but not too much. I've thought about filming more gardens like this, and yes, I'll definitely be filming a tour of our rhododendrons this year again.
You're welcome back to Dallas anytime Mike lol. Glad y'all had such a good trip. And one of those oak trees I think one where you're like look at these oaks I believe it was post oak tree. And the one that was growing crazy I'm guessing was a live oak but I may be wrong.
They had a sign on the first one but the second I wasn't sure about. That garden was really cool. You guys should get there to see it. Going back through the footage made me want to go back down to Dallas. Good to know we're welcome in the great state. Ally and I had a ton of fun hanging out with you guys and your kids. Man, Scott, I was amazed! I really wanted to come see you but it just didn't work out this time. We went down for a piano concert for Ally and did as much as we could in a 2 day span. I originally planned it as a road trip and was going to come back up through Arkansas but Shellie vetoed that one since it would take 2 weeks or more.......and then there's the house build, lol. My daughter and I talked about it afterward and both agreed that the Fort Worth garden was the best. We both really liked the smaller country feel of Fort Worth but the whole DFW area was awesome!
@@MikeKincaid79 Yes FW has a small town feel and Dallas has the big city vibe happening. I am lucky to live a bit south of Dallas in a smaller town.
Awesome 👍
Nice place !!!!!!!! ....
I mean it when I say that part of the trip made us feel very welcome completed the whole trip. Ally still talks about how cute Shiloh is, lol.
@@MikeKincaid79 I've been to both of the botanical gardens are really cool. I haven't been to the stockyard tho lol I wonder how many people that live here never gone to it. We all had a blast when y'all were down. All three of them were happy to see Ally when she first popped up on the video. Shyloh was like I know her.
Welcome to the south, we have chicks in the nest near feathered out . and my garden is already in and a foot tall or more.
I couldn't believe how far ahead Dallas was in their spring. That was the one thing that amazed me the whole time. I just kept thinking, I can't compete with this, lol. I'm not kidding when I say that the season was 2 months ahead of us.

What is that place they call, Stitch Work? Is it saplings that they weave broken branches around? We still have snow here in northren Minnesota. I wish it looked like that here. Makes me want to move.
Haha, I get it, made me want to move too. I keep in mind that it'll be blistering hot in the summer and they'll be fighting for water down there, lol.

You did take a fig cutting right lol
Haha, man I thought about it. The tree was so pristine. I didn’t feel right cutting a branch off, lol.

Actually it’s called the Dallas Arboretum. 🤭
There's one in fort Worth and there's one in Dallas . I've been to both.
The Botanical Gardens are so pretty. I liked the video!! 🙂😁
Next time you’re coming along!
That was a nice surprise ,I didn't expect to see this until after the house was done. You say they're a few months ahead of you and we were one week in to nice weather then had the blizzard of a lifetime ,lasted almost 3 days I was not impressed So seeing all the flowers and trees was a nice treat I thought maybe some butterflies inside the greenhouse Wouldn't you love to have a greenhouse like that one filled with all those orchids and other tropical plants I'd be in my glory 🏵️🪷🌺🌳🌴. 🇨🇦🦩
It would be truly amazing to have something like this on my property. All comes down to money. Love the butterfly idea.
