Want a new costume without spending a lot of money? Thrifty Belly is a series where I take old clothes or thrifted items and turn them into dancewear!
Episode 2 is a popular belly dance costuming item - Turkish vest! It's quite challenging to make a Turkish vest that fits nicely from scratch, but using an old t-shirt, you can make it without sewing!
Great for belly dance, gypsy or renaissance inspired costuming. Complete with the cute lace-up finish :)

Very Clever! Wish I had seen this before we made Turkish vests for my troupe. We would definitely use the sewing version.

wow this is great for a Ren fest costume! I was thinking of making this, your peasant top, the slitted harem pants, and tribal skirt overlay. do you think this would look good together? you know if color matches well?

I was thinking I could use the part of where you fold the fabric to make the middle part would pull the sides to make it fit so then it would be a complete no sew

It's a good costume but if you
don't have patience and don't have any knitting/sewing experience its hard and takes time

Sure is a lot of sewing for "No Sew."

KMP HCH she did give options for both. If you don't want to sew, just start with a shirt that is already tight.
