Pretty damn cool! In the early 60's I lived about 4 miles from Lion's Drag Strip in Long Beach, CA. My neighbor across the street had a 57 T-Bird Super-Stock my Dad was the mechanic. Went to the races every week! Got to be in the pits! I was 14, what fun!
Back in the 60s my Dad's family car was a 64 Polara. My first car was a Dodge Dart gt. 273cu in 4speed. Nice memories seeing these cars. Of course these are much modified and much fast than the original stock versions.
Authentic live sound, no lame music or inaccurate narrating. Your video is a pleasure to view. By the way, the '63 - '65 B bodies are the coolest race cars ever built. This compliment comes from the owner of 440 4 speed '70 GTX that has run a best of 11.82.
Time stamp 1:02 and 17:40. The red Jack of Diamonds car. I was a good friend with the guy who owned this car in the late 90's. Nice to see it back at the strip after all these years.
Does anyone know what ever happened to the Mr Wood Car that was Running SS/A back in the 70's? Was based around Riverside California and the one time Owner first name was Andy I think He was a Riverside Deputy Sherriff or Policeman! Just wondering My cousin was the Eastern Rep for Hooker Headers and He called Me to Ask if They could leave the car in My shop for two weeks they were campaigning the Car in the East that spring and had some time before Spring Nationals at National Trails Here in Ohio that was around 1975. Just wondering!
I love the old Mopars the early 60s models especially. Some say they were ugly but to me they were beautiful. That 426 wedge with the cross ram intake and upswept headers man what a motor and paired with the Torqueflite 727 tranny my favorite combo.
Only thing better than watching a Mopar race is watching 2 Mopars race!
Yup!
Great cars! I did a lot of Super Stock racing in the 70s and remember these cars well. I ran a Super Stock 71 Duster 340. Those were fun times.

In the 70's I had a 64 sport fury with a 413 wedge. Out of all the cars, trucks and vans I've owned I wish I had that car back again.
Great racing! I love these lower classes better than the Pros.
Glad you like them!
Oh yeah for sure!!!
Back when race cars actually looked like something you could drive on the street!
Jim Kramer from Herman PA is a hero for many of us Pittsburgh kids!
Just wish I could have seen the times better. Excellent video. Saw these run when they were new back in the dat. I am an old man now.

There’s nothing like the sound of an idiling hemi engine!
Except the sound of a revving Hemi engine😁
Point taken or opinions vary!
@@morrisparrish76 point being: they sound bitching either way!!
Mopars in general have a sound all their own. Got to love them.
I can’t describe it; but I know it when I hear it!
Not one 1962 Polara or Dart. Shame they are my favorite.
426 likes right now! Weird coincidence?!
