Unreal. I clicked in thinking I could find some tips to repair a couple section of my og plaster moulding. Nope. This is far beyond my capabilities. Very impressive sir.
Fantastic video, and just what I was looking for to learn how to do this. I just need to know how to do internal corners now - been racking my brains and haven't thought how to yet!
I'm wondering the same thing. Part of me thinks I can and part of me thinks it's like watching a pro athlete and thinking I can play ball like they do. They all make it look so easy.
A beginner here. Just wondering why one would put plaster trim why not wood or Or something else? Is it because sometimes a customer may want a custom trim?
How do you make the form, the sliding template. I made one out of wood for the chair rail but then reinforced it with metal. It’s does not work well at all. Also I see the variations in your plaster consistency. Can you share how many coats and what mixes you are using when you dab it all up in mass, then hand wash, then paint brush then detail , please.
Technically inside and outside corners are done with a Mitre Rod, when you see him working with a piece of metal that has a 45% angle that comes to a point, it’s either a self made one or purchased (can’t telling the video). Mitre Rods are an obscure tool that is hard to find, as the horse can’t do inside or outside corners, the Mitre Rod follows the contours of the moulding while you move it at an angle creating the mitre joints
Nice but do you sell the knives or explain how to make them? Any words and guidance other than that terribly loud music? Or are you just selling your services?
Nop he doesnt it is plaster of paris with double hydrated lime 2/3 lime 1/3 plaster. You need to add water until the consistency is creamy (make a donut on a table with the lime, fill it with water then add the plaster of paris)
Nice, old school, you don't see that much these days, you mostly see guys pre making plaster coves and medallions with a sled then screwing/glueing them to the walls. I'm a retired old school guy.
Would have been better , cleaner and easier to run a reverse mould on a bench and cast some lengths , less plaster, less mess in the clients home and a cleaner job all round …
Why would someone choose the plaster crown moldings which are long in the making, expensive and hard to repair verses the wood, polyethylene or styrofoam?
I came here because I thought it was cheaper than wood. I stayed to watch an art being performed by a master. (No, considering labor, it's not cheaper than wood)
This craftsmanship is astonishing. I'm thoroughly impressed! Well done, Sir!

You could make sections of the moulding upside down on a bench and then install it as if it was a piece of wood, then simply marry the pieces together
Great to see a craftsman and artist working. Do I dare to try this as an amateur.....

Nice corner work! 14 min in, was wondering what you were going to do.
Awesome work and craftsmanship !
My hat off to you sir. You’re a master at it!! 😎

Absolutely incredible craftsmanship! I'm a trim carpenter and curious as to why or what advantages does this provide compared to wood/mdf ?
wonderful work and you have a beautiful smile🥰🥰
J'aurais aimé voir comment il fait les angles très bonne vidéo
How do you get it to stick like that? usually it is quite liquid...

Beautiful job, Sir! I also wonder how you made the internal corners...

Incredible work! You make it look easy, I'm sure I will have fun trying (my.husband not so much 😆)
Remember it's going to take many years...imagine the fun you're going to have torturing the poor soul.Oh well...something to look forward to.
HOW were the inside corners done so well?
I would’ve like to see how you did the corners. My guess is you get it as close as possible then fill and form manually.
Plaster usually has a very limited work time. Do you use a special plaster with a longer work time?

how much does a job like this typically cost?
Great looking finished product.
Muy bien maestro lo felicito por su clase pero puede explicar cómo se ase el molde
The Rachmaninovs, the Beethovens of the DIY world...I can only watch and marvel.
Can you please post a video on how to mix the plaster and lime
